The sun set, and the bright moon hung high.

Toru just stood in the corridor like this, looking at the night view outside Tokyo.

He sat by the windowsill, holding a can of cola in his hand at so point, leaning against the wall, relaxed and at ease.

After an unknown amount of ti, the door of the safe house behind him opened, and Shuichi, wearing a knitted hat, walked out.

There was no extra sll of blood on him. It seed he had intentionally cleaned himself up.

Seeing Toru at the door, Shuichi walked to his side and looked at the neon lights of the distant city with him.

After a while, Toru said, "How is the situation?"

"Rum is dead."

"Mm, it's normal that he died."

"Mother and I asked him about Father."

"What were the results?"

"Back then in Arica, there was a case that Rum personally led people to commit. Father noticed the problems with this case and began investigating the Organization, eventually tracing it back to Rum."

Shuichi said faintly, "Rum was already preparing to step down from the front lines at that ti and wanted to manage the Organization from behind the scenes. Father, who had been chasing him, was a big problem."

"So, he sent people to kill my Father."

Shuichi's tone was very calm, and he did not feel sad upon learning of his Father's death.

His Father had been missing for many years. Given his Father's identity, both Mary and Shuichi had long been prepared for his death.

Today, it was just confird from Rum's mouth.

Shuichi took out a cigarette and lit it.

Toru frowned. He did not particularly like the sll of smoke. If ladies like Vermouth were smoking, he could barely tolerate it.

But Shuichi's secondhand smoke, he really did not want to inhale.

However, after thinking about it, he dismissed the thought. This was not the ti to dwell on smoking.

Toru slowly asked, "What are your plans next, Shuichi?"

"Only my direct superior knew about my faked death, but things changed too quickly. It seems my faked death was aningless, don't you think, Adam?"

Shuichi was not soone who stubbornly pursued only one goal without any other objective to strive for.

Rum's death, the death of his Father's killer, did not cause Shuichi any confusion. This was precisely his strength.

"Are you preparing to return to the FBI?"

Toru asked again.

Shuichi shook his head. "My purpose in joining the FBI was to investigate the Organization and my Father's whereabouts."

"Now that I know these things, and the Organization will likely fall into your and Mother's hands, my investigation is aningless."

"I will not return to the FBI. The FBI will only restrict my actions."

Toru said playfully, "Back then, many people in the FBI died fighting against the Organization. Among them were your colleagues and subordinates. Don't you have any thoughts of revenge at all?"

Shuichi glanced at him. "This is the fate of being an FBI agent, and it is the FBI's mission. When joining the FBI, everyone was already prepared for death."

"It's like you, being in the CIA. I don't believe you have no friends in the CIA. But would you grieve for their deaths?"

Toru smiled. "Yes, I will grieve for their deaths, but that's all. I won't stop my steps because of their deaths, nor will I make the wrong choices for them."

"The dead are gone. The living must live their own lives. In this regard, you are much stronger than Rei."

"For his friends, he would fight the Organization desperately. Even if the Organization is now in my hands, he will definitely try everything to destroy it."

Shuichi raised an eyebrow. "You want to kill Rei?"

Rei was the Japanese Security Bureau's mole in the Organization. Others in the Organization did not know, but Toru was fully aware.

Shuichi was not very interested in how Toru would deal with Rei.

He and Rei were not really friends. In fact, in Rei's eyes, he might even be an enemy.

Although it was due to a misunderstanding, Rei's friend did die at Shuichi's hands. Shuichi was the killer.

"No, I quite admire people like Rei who have a sense of justice. People in the open are not scary at all. The truly scary ones are those in the dark."

"In the Organization, he is Bourbon and must obey my orders as Rum. In the Japanese official system, he is a mber of the Security Bureau and must obey the orders of the Chairman of the Security Committee, who happens to be my Father."

"You see, Rei cannot escape my grasp. I can give him orders in various ways, making him willingly complete tasks."

Toru's words made Shuichi chuckle. "That's truly miserable, Rei, being played in your hands like this."

"You can tell him the truth."

"I won't do sothing so unnecessary."

After a pause, Shuichi added, "For soone like Rei, it's safer to kill him. It seems Adam, you are not as cold-blooded as I imagined."

Toru shrugged. "After all, I'm still a person, not so cold-blooded animal. I also have my own life."

Shuichi chuckled. "So, I don't dislike you that much. Mother cooperating with you doesn't make too worried."

Toru crushed the empty soda can he had finished drinking. He said, "Anyway, you have nothing to do right now. Why don't you co and complete the task I'll give you?"

"What if I don't want to do it?"

"Then I'll go find your Mother and have your Mother persuade you to do it."

Seeing Toru's roguish appearance, Shuichi could not help but smile.

This guy was much more interesting than expected. He was not that kind of cold-blooded and ruthless executioner.

"Tell , what do you want to do? I'll listen and see if I'm willing."

Toru's expression turned serious. He said, "A large part of the Organization's finances cos from the financial conglorates of Arica, and is closely related to the elite groups."

"But as you know, Shuichi, those conglorates have various cross-shareholdings. Their assets, which could amount to tens or hundreds of trillions of US dollars, are difficult to trace under this complex system."

"What I want you to do is very simple. I will use the Organization's connections with those conglorates to provide you with intelligence support, and you will personally find them."

"Then, when we need to, we will work together to eliminate them, making these parasites completely disappear and bringing peace to this world. What do you think of my ideal?"

Toru spread his hands, speaking in an exaggerated and fervent tone.

Shuichi looked at him steadily. "What a grand ideal. Truly an envoy of justice and peace."

Toru laughed heartily. "Of course, I'm not that noble, but I do have the idea of taking down those people."

"The purpose is not for justice and peace, but the result can bring justice and peace, and that is enough."

"What I want to do is eliminate all of them. Then I will sit in that position and give this world a relatively fair set of rules."

Toru felt that people should always have so grand ideals, even if his ideals ca from ambition and arrogance.

Shuichi turned around and walked toward the other side of the corridor. "You are truly an ambitious fellow. However, your task is quite interesting. I accept."

As Shuichi's figure disappeared, Toru smiled and kicked the can at his feet aside.
