The Fallen Academy was massive, and its facilities weren't all that different from a normal Japanese high school, just far more complete and extravagant.
After passing by the athletic field, basketball gym, and cooking classroom, Lavinia finally brought Ryo to the swimming complex.
"This is the girls' pool. The water's specially treated so it increases resistance while you swim."
Lavinia sat down by the edge of the pool, casually kicked off her shoes, and dipped her feet into the water.
Her pale little feet, delicate enough that even the capillaries beneath the skin were faintly visible, disappeared beneath the surface. She imdiately let out a soft hiss of satisfaction.
"Ahh… with weather like this, soaking your feet in cool water really is the best."
The climate inside this pocket dinsion stayed fixed at early sumr year-round. It wasn't unbearably hot, but it definitely wasn't the most comfortable season either.
Watching Lavinia play in the water, Ophis curiously copied her. The mont her feet entered the pool, she showed a subtly pleased expression.
Akeno watched the scene for a mont, then turned toward Ryo.
"Why are you looking at ?" Ryo asked in surprise.
"Aren't you joining them?" Akeno asked cautiously.
"Oh, since you put it that way…"
Ryo imdiately brightened with realization.
He casually took off his shoes as well, sat beside Ophis, and dipped his feet into the cold pool water with a deeply satisfied expression.
"Honestly, washing your feet then peeing in a swimming pool is everyone's ultimate guilty secret dream."
"Huh? Does everyone really think that way?" Lavinia asked, genuinely shocked.
"Of course," Ryo pointed at the clear blue water in front of them with complete seriousness. "A place this nice deserves so aningful mark left behind."
He was spouting utter nonsense that no normal person would ever believe.
Unfortunately, neither Lavinia nor Ophis qualified as normal.
...
Ryo stared silently at the two girls for a long while. Just as it looked like sothing terrible was about to happen, he turned to Akeno and asked, "…You're not going to stop them?"
Akeno, who had completely frozen in disbelief, instantly rushed forward to stop the girls from carrying out their horrifying plan. For the first ti, she actually looked flustered.
Afterward, she launched into a lengthy lecture at the two of them like an exasperated horoom teacher.
Under Akeno's stern criticism, the pair sincerely reflected on their mistakes, made several heartfelt promises never to do it, and then angrily abandoned Ryo off to the side.
Lavinia even tried to sneak-attack him by kicking him into the pool, but Akeno stopped her.
"These two idiots…" Not only did Ryo show zero guilt for misleading them, he openly mocked them instead. "You should at least think about whether that's the kind of thing people do right in front of everyone."
At that mont, Akeno walked over with a very complicated expression. "You… don't feel even a little ashad?"
"I sold my sense of sha to Shiroyasha half a year ago," Ryo answered shalessly.
"Who's Shiroyasha?"
"A supre being who elevated erotic authority to the level of truth itself."
Akeno completely failed to understand whatever bizarre nonsense Ryo was talking about. In the end, she could only sigh, "We spent far too much ti here. Lord Shemhazai just sent word that the banquet is about to begin."
"So soon?" Ryo looked surprised. "The Fallen Angels already settled the contract issue?"
If Shemhazai dared to invite him to dinner, then there was no way the negotiations hadn't made progress.
After all, there were tens of thousands of Fallen Angels. Coordinating the opinions of that many people wasn't easy. Hell, even organizing tens of thousands of pigs would take days, let alone actual people.
Which was exactly why Ryo found Shemhazai's efficiency shocking.
Hearing that, Akeno revealed an oddly subtle expression, "Did you already know this would happen?"
"Hm? Know what?" Ryo looked genuinely confused. "What exactly was I supposed to know?"
Akeno let out a long breath before explaining, "All the Fallen Angels are willing to accept your rule because they believe following soone as powerful as you is the only way their race can continue growing stronger."
"Did you intentionally act so domineering because you already understood how much Fallen Angels worship strength?"
"No. I was actually planning to abandon a lot of them." Ryo sounded utterly speechless.
What he wanted were talented elites, preferably the kind who could mature quickly. Ordinary Fallen Angels might eventually produce strong individuals, but right now they were basically negative assets.
Naturally, he didn't particularly care whether they lived or died.
And because he didn't care, he also didn't care whether they swore loyalty to him.
Except things had sohow beco weird. The more contemptuous he acted toward the Fallen Angels, the more loyal and fanatical they beca.
Good grief. Was the entire race made up of masochists?
Unfortunately, no one—not even Akeno—believed his explanation at all. Ryo's timing had been far too perfect. And afterward, Shemhazai had even deliberately leaked bits of information to the outside world.
No preparation? Who would believe that?
Akeno simply assud Ryo was being modest and chose not to pursue the matter further.
"Then, will you be attending the banquet?"
"I'll go. Might as well enjoy a good al." Ryo answered casually. "We'll stay with the Fallen side for tonight and head back to Kyoto tomorrow."
...
..
Kyoto, inside an upscale traditional inn—
Wearing revealing sleepwear that looked practically designed to murder virgins on sight, Nyx sat on a perfectly balanced tatami mat with a dark expression while staring at the tablet in her hands.
The screen was currently replaying the footage of Ryo fighting Kokabiel.
Since tens of thousands of Fallen Angels could access the internal network and watch the livestream, infiltrators naturally existed as well.
The video had been sent to Nyx by one such spy embedded within the Fallen Angels on behalf of the Greek pantheon.
The ssage attached to it stated that this would be their final contact and that they would never et again.
It nearly made Nyx's beautiful nose twist with rage. As Greece's intelligence chief, even if only nominally, having one of her carefully trained informants defect on the spot was humiliating beyond words. What infuriated her most was that if she hadn't possessed blackmail material on the man, the Fallen Angel probably would've sold her out entirely just to curry favor with Ryo.
Absolutely infuriating.
Still, angry or not, Nyx remained extrely wary of the contents of the video.
She replayed Ryo's movents fra by fra.
The Fallen Angel surveillance system recorded at three hundred fras per second, yet it still failed to capture the instant Ryo attacked. It was as though his leg had never moved at all.
He'd struck within 0.003 seconds, moving so fast that even the caras couldn't record it.
What kind of speed was that?
Just thinking about it sent a wave of fear through Nyx.
She considered herself one of the strongest among the Satan-class.
But… Was this really soone a Satan-class fighter could handle?
At that thought, Nyx suddenly began wondering whether she should just pack up and head ho.
She no longer cared that the footage ended right after Ryo stepped on Kokabiel, nor did she bother investigating what happened afterward.
Now she was worried about herself.
Sure, sneaking back after arriving in Kyoto on a private jet would be embarrassing. But at least it would be safe.
Besides, nobody even knew she'd co to Kyoto in the first place. Quietly slipping away wouldn't really be shaful at all.
Right then, the tablet displayed an incoming call. Caller ID: Erebus.
Nyx's expression instantly stiffened.
She hesitated again and again before finally accepting the call on the second attempt.
The mont the connection went through, Erebus spoke. "You've done well, Nyx. I didn't expect you to start making moves against the devils before the rest of us."
"Greece has already unified its objective. You'll launch an attack on Kyoto while the other four Primordial Gods and I use the opportunity to assault the Satan Beelzebub Castle and rescue Hades."
"I'll send the detailed plan to your email.... Nyx... Nyx, why aren't you saying anything?"
"Brother…"
Nyx felt she was about to cry, "How about… we switch assignnts?"
