Chapter 2140: Fragmented Continent
Standing at the end of the staircase leading to the twenty ninth floor of the ascension tower, Xuan Hao once again found himself standing before the entrance of an unknown floor.
But different from the floors he had entered in the past, this floor wasn’t visible through the entrance, as some thin film seemed to cover the entrance. Making it impossible for him to see what was waiting for him on the other side.
Even trying to extend his divine sense through the thin film was impossible, as his divine sense was seemingly swallowed by the strange material blocking his vision. Forcing him to stop trying to use his divine sense to peer through it, as it had bee clear that doing so would only end up with him wasting his divine sense, as the divine sense swallowed by the entrance wasn’t something he could simply recover. Instead, it had been pletely swallowed up by the strange material and forced him to pause for a bit to recover his divine sense.
Different as he had expected this floor of the tower that was designed for the Star Creation Realm instead of the Land Creation Realm like the twenty eighth floor that had e before it, he hadn’t expected this kind of odd situation where even his divine sense was being swallowed up before getting a chance to see what was waiting for him on the other side.
For all he knew, he might end up walking into some kind of life and death situation once he crossed over and officially set foot into the world that made up the twenty ninth floor of the tower.
Still, though he was taken aback by the sudden loss of his divine sense, he still intended to enter the twenty ninth floor of the tower to check out the situation in person.
Not just because the strange situation had roused his curiosity regrading this floor of the tower, but also because of the simple fact that he would need to enter the twenty ninth floor of the tower before he would be able to make use of the teleportation function of the tower and avoid having to go through a weeklong journey again in the future when he challenged the twenty ninth floor of the tower.
After all, though his current strength at the Late Stage of the Land Creation Realm was more than enough to fight someone at the Early and potentially even Middle Stage of the Star Creation Realm, he doubted it would be enough for him to take on the task that was waiting for him on the twenty ninth floor of the tower. Having already understood from the previous two floors of the tower that the tasks assigned seemed to be getting increasingly difficult. No longer following the simple scheme where he might have originally faced an enemy at the Early Stage of the Star Creation Realm upon reaching the twenty ninth floor of the tower.
Instead of that, he felt like there was a good chance he might even end up running into someone who had already broken through to the Venerable Realm on the twenty ninth floor of the tower given the increase in strength the enemies he found himself facing off against had experienced during the previous two floors.
Whoosh~
Feeling his divine sense having recovered from the small loss it had experienced as he tried to peer into the twenty ninth floor to no success a short time earlier, Xuan Hao took a step forward and officially stepped through the strange film that obscured his view of the world on the other side of the entrance.
“This… Not a small world…?” And the first thing he saw upon reaching the other side made him silently exclaim in shock as he discovered that he had not found himself in another small world similar to the ones he had to journey through during the twenty seventh and twenty eighth floor of the tower.
Instead, he found himself standing on top of what looked like a fragmented continent floating through the void, the rules and laws that governed the world that this large fragmented continent had once been a part of were in such a fragmented state that only small parts of the continent itself was isolated from the void that was clearly visible all around, causing large parts of the continent to be ravaged by spatial storm large and small alike.
But even then, the fragmented continent remained intact in the face of these spatial storms, as only a bit of the surface was affected without by the spatial storms while the large fragment remained intact and unbreakable by those terrifying spatial storm that could easily tear apart someone like himself even with his high prehension of the Dao of Space making him far more resilient than others of a similar level of strength.
Terrifying as the resilience of this fragmented continent floating through the void appeared, it wasn’t difficult to discover the reason behind this resilience, as a single glance was all that was needed to notice those fragmented laws and rules permeating the fragmented continent weakening ever so slightly with the spatial storms tearing away at the continent.
The weakening was so slow that it took him some time to discover it, as at the current pace of things, it would likely still take anywhere between ten thousand years to a hundred thousand years before those terrifying spatial storms managed to weaken the remaining laws and rules guarding the continent. Forcibly splitting the already fragmented continent into even smaller fragments that would then drift through the void on their own.
In fact, looking at the fragmented continent before him, it was clear that this kind of split had already happened in the past and the current fragmented continent he found himself on was only a small part of a large whole.
Problem was, he had no idea just how many times this split had happened nor how big the original continent that this fragmented continent had once been a part of, let alone how massive the world such a continent had once been a part of. Not to mention how such a massive world had ended up shattering with part of a continent that had once been a part of it now floating aimlessly through the void. Slowly being ground away by the spatial storms and other spatial anomalies found throughout the void, as the already inplete and fragmented laws and rules originating from the world it had once been part of were distorted beyond the point of recovery.
Still, even with the fragmented continent in such a horrible state, the small parts of the continent that remained insulated from the void slowly breaking apart the fragmented continent were filled with life, as the survivors of what should have been a world ending catastrophe had managed to cling to life in these small sanctuaries of life on the fragmented continent.
Then again, small as he made them sound, these sanctuaries scattered across the mostly exposed fragmented continent were anywhere between the size of the territory covered by the current Star Shattering Sect to four times the size of the Blue Sea Empire. Making them more than large enough to be home to countless smaller powers and even give birth to large factions surpassing that of the Blue Sea Empire. Especially so considering a single glance was more than enough to understand that the fragmented continent was still rich in resources despite its broken state.
If anything, the parts of the continent exposed to the void had given birth to countless precious resources that the locals took full advantage of, as there was no lack of powerful cultivators establishing mining outpost and smaller cities outside the boundaries of the safe spots on the fragmented continent isolated from the void.
Just from where he was standing, a small mountain peak within a small, isolated part of the fragmented continent that hadn’t been exposed to the void outside, he could see over a dozen cities filled with both human cultivators and non-human cultivators.
The strength of these locals being anything but weak, as on the surface, every single one of these small cities at least had someone at the Land Creation Realm overseeing them, with a large one barely within the scope of what he could sense had someone at the Star Creation Realm overseeing it. Making him almost certain that whatever power controlled the land still isolated from the void was far from weak and might even be home to someone already above the Profound Immortal Realm.
Exploring this kind of fragmented continent with his current strength at the Late Stage of the Land Creation Realm was far from safe and even if he broke through to the Star Creation Realm in the future, it still wouldn’t be a safe place to explore considering the potential existence of cultivators at the Venerable Realm within the lands still isolated from the void by the remnant laws and rules from the original world of the fragmented continent.
