However, the task was unforgiving, as it directly asked him to get something called a law fragment, something he didn’t even know anything about in the first place, let alone where to find one such law fragment.

Still, the fact that it specified that he needed to seize it made it clear that the law fragment in question was already in someone’s hand.

Together with the fact that the remnant laws and rules of the world that the fragmented continent had once been part of was concentrated in certain places. Allowing some places to remain protected from the void, he had a feeling that the so-called law fragment he needed to seize would e from one of those intact lands still guarded by the laws and rules of the origin world of the continent.

Problem was… He had already started suspecting those locations were directly under powerful beings at the Venerable Realm or close to the Venerable Realm.

Stealing something that might very well be in the possession of such powerful beings with his current limited strength would be nothing more than throwing his life away.

So, instead of that, he decided to use this opportunity to learn more about the fragmented continent and if there was a chance for him to plete the task, he would take it. If not, he could still give it a try and use the opportunity to fight to the death with a powerful figure close to the Venerable Realm or at the Venerable Realm. Using the opportunity to get a better idea about where his limits were.

For now, he first decided to enter the city closest to the small mountain where the passage leading back down to the twenty eighth floor of the tower was located and at the same time also the place where he would end up in the future upon entering the twenty ninth floor of the tower.

The number of cultivators at the Nascent Soul Realm living on the fragmented continent was limited, as most demon beast native to the fragmented continent were born somewhere within the Domain Lord Realm with their strength growing to the Dao Seed Realm upon growing up.

With this being the general level of the wild demon beasts roaming around, it was only a given that the general cultivation realm of those daring to wander around the fragmented continent had at least reached the Dao Seed Realm, with there being no lack of those in the Profound Immortal Realm and Celestial Immortal Realm amongst those he could see moving around the fragmented continent.

Of course, there were still a few brave souls wandering around at the Nascent Soul Realm searching for opportunities to improve their own strength amidst the broken landscape, some of these daring adventurers even relying on their weak cultivation to move through dangerous areas even Dao Seed Realm cultivators avoided. Hoping that the powerful demon beasts living in the area saw them as too weak to even bother caring about.

Amongst these daring adventurers, there was even a Core Formation Realm cultivator belonging to some unknown race that relied on a special artifact to survive on the fragmented continent. Using his weak cultivation to enter the territory of a powerful demon beast parable to someone at the Sea Formation Realm, the demon beast in question pletely ignoring the weak little Core Formation Realm cultivator. Allowing the junior to get a few precious spiritual herbs from the deadly territory before making his way back to a nearby city.

In turn, this little adventure also allowed Xuan Hao to understand that the cities themselves also functioned as small independent worlds cut off from the surrounding void. Allowing those with weaker cultivation to live within them.

The main difference from the land still guarded by the laws and rules of the origin world still clinging to the fragmented continent was the simple fact that these cities had no protection against the different spatial storms that raged across the fragmented continent. Meaning that once a spatial storm reached one of those cities, they would either have to seal themselves off and hope to survive through the spatial storm as it passed by, forcibly dispersing it or run away before the city was torn apart.

Bad as this sounded, with the strength of the city lords of these cities at least having reached the Land Creation Realm, smaller spatial storms posed no threat and could be taken care of with relatively little effort. Only larger spatial storms posed a significant threat.

Not to mention, given that the locals existed in this kind of deadly environment for who knows how long, they should have long since e up with countless ways to handle spatial storms and might even have developed some special artifacts for detecting spatial storms before they could form.

Outside of that, the locals would undoubtedly also have a profound prehension of the Dao of Space, as this kind of environment was excellent for prehending the Dao of Space. Far better than any environment he had encountered so far.

In a sense, it wasn’t wrong to consider the entire fragmented continent a Dao Ground for the Dao of Space. After all, the void was clearly visible to anyone with eyes and spatial storms large and small were everywhere for one to glimpse the Dao of Space through.

Something that proved useful, as he learnt from watching the guards standing at the entrance to the city that one had to pay a toll to enter the city and the toll in question wasn’t paid with spirit stones like he had expected. Instead, it was paid with some kind of unique spiritual metal that had been turned into a coin of sorts.

The spiritual metal itself wasn’t that difficult to find, and he had even picked up some out of curiosity on his way to the city, but to turn it into a coin was indeed a bit difficult without a close look at the coin in question. Forcing him to extend his divine sense outwards to observe the coin up close as it was being handed over to the guards by one of the people standing a few meters ahead of him in the line.

Luckily, the guards and people around were limited to the Dao Seed Realm and didn’t notice his divine sense, but he still felt somewhat nervous that he might accidentally trigger some kind of protective measure by the formation covering the city having his divine sense move so close to the entrance of the city.

But in the end, everything worked out and he soon enough made a handful of coins using the unique spiritual metal he had picked up on his way to the city. The most difficult part of the coin minting process being the creation of a small intricate formation that was hidden within the coins themselves to serve as a kind of verification of authenticity. Luckily, it wasn’t something too hard to acplish with his current prehension of the Dao of Formations and the simple fact that the coin itself was made from the correct material.

If it had been made from a different material, he had a feeling that it would be far more difficult to copy the authenticity formation, though he didn’t have the time to test his hypothesis for now, as he first planned to explore this unique city before anything else.
