Chapter 1223: Knocking on the Door of Death! (4)

Elia stood motionless atop the black crystal throne, but the storm inside her heart refused to calm. That familiar sensation still lingered faintly within her soul, elusive yet unmistakable.

It was a feeling she could never mistake, her teacher, yet because she recognized it, she became even more cautious instead of rushing out recklessly.

The abyss-like eyes beneath her dark, night-like hair flickered repeatedly as countless thoughts surged through her mind.

‘Should I go to him…no! I need to calm down.’ Her fingers slowly tightened around the throne’s armrest, ‘What if this is another trick of the Undead Lich King and his minions?’

Over the years, the undead had used countless methods to lure her out, such as false trails, fabricated life signatures, soul illusions, undead capable of mimicking emotions and memories, and other undead as bait.

She had figured out long ago that the Undead Skyfall Canyons were obsessed with hunting her, especially after she advanced into the Legendary King State, and the Throne of Death awakened further.

Elia slowly closed her eyes, and the chaotic aura around her gradually settled as she forcibly suppressed the agitation in her heart.

“If it is truly Teacher…” She murmured softly, almost afraid to voice it aloud, “Then nothing here can stop him.”

That thought alone steadied her emotions, as to others, the Undead Skyfall Canyons were an endless nightmare, but to her, her teacher was something far beyond nightmares.

Even now, whenever she recalled the day Jacob descended before the Cursed Necromancer King, overwhelming an existence she once believed invincible, her soul still trembled.

That scene had long bee engraved into her very being, and for her, Jacob was like an omniscient and untouchable existence. The person who dragged her out of despair and placed the Throne of Death into her hands instead of keeping it for himself.

The same throne that now pulsed quietly within her soul. As if sensing her emotions, the Throne of Death released faint ripples of dark authority.

Elia’s eyes softened briefly; she still remembered asking the Throne of Death countless times about its origin, especially because the Undead Skyfall Canyons seemed to be after her because of it.

But every answer remained the same. It did not know, or rather, it had forgotten. The Throne only vaguely understood that it was inplete and sleeping. That perhaps once Elia reached a higher realm, it would gradually recover its true form.

But none of that mattered to her, because this throne now belonged to her, as it was a gift from her teacher, and anyone who dared covet it would meet a chilling end.

‘BOOOOOOM!!!’

Suddenly, the entire underground fortress violently trembled as massive cracks spread across the chamber ceiling, and rivers of corrupted lava surged wildly through the underground canals. The black crystal pylons flickered erratically.

Elia’s expression instantly turned cold as the emotional turbulence vanished without a trace.

“…So, they’ve found this place too.”

There was no surprise in her voice, only exhaustion as this had happened too many times already. No matter where the survivors hid, the undead eventually found them, every single time.

But it doesn’t mean they were equally accustomed or confident in fleeing because every time they fled, more people died. The worst part was that the hunters were being increasingly terrifying.

At first, only Legendary Kings pursued her, then Quasi-Myth appeared, and now? The Undead Lich King had begun dispatching multiple Dukes of Death simultaneously just to ensure her demise.

Even Elia herself had long figured out that the reason those guys wanted her dead was because of the Throne of Death.

It was the natural enemy of everything tied to death law and undeath, and as she grew stronger, the throne seemed to awaken further alongside her. Which only seemed to have made the hidden existence within the Undead Skyfall Canyons more desperate to reclaim it.

‘BOOOOOOM!!!’

Another terrifying tremor shook the underground domain; this time, even ancient fiend statues collapsed.

An instant later, a crimson munication talisman ignited beside the throne, and a grim and anxious voice erupted from within.

“Death Lord, this hideout has already been promised!

“We’ve been pletely surrounded by the armies of Axe Bone Tyrant and Corpse Wyvern Lord!

“They’ve already established a space-sealing barrier! I can’t sense the Law of Space anymore, and all emergency escape portals have stopped functioning!”

The voice trembled slightly as he hopefully stated, “Everyone is awaiting your mand!”

Elia’s eyes instantly turned icy, and a terrifying curse aura spread from her body. The moment she heard those names, old wounds seemed to ache again, especially the Corpse Wyvern Lord.

That vile, cunning monster, the last time they clashed, he had nearly killed her through a carefully prepared ambush. If she hadn’t managed to grasp a fragment of Liber Chaotica during that life-and-death struggle, she would’ve already fallen.

Now they dared e again, making the blood within Elia’s body seem to boil, and her killing intent surged uncontrollably.

“I’ll be there,” She said coldly, before her voice sharpened with authority, “Summon everyone.”

The next moment, she vanished from the throne hall like dissolving mist.

Meanwhile, on the surface of the ruined mountains above the hidden sanctuary, the world had already descended into hell.

Boundless undead armies surrounded the entire region from every direction, legions upon legions stretched endlessly beneath the darkened sky. They were filled with all kinds of Undead like skeletal infantry, corpse beasts, towering abominations, floating liches, bone giants…

The sheer density of the death aura transformed the heavens into darkness, and above everything, a colossal spherical barrier engulfed the entire region.

Its translucent gray surface writhed with countless screaming ghostly faces, their expressions twisted in agony as they endlessly clawed against the barrier walls. The terrifying formation pletely sealed the region from space itself!

At the forefront of the undead armies stood the Corpse Wyvern Lord. His folded wings resembled massive, torn cloaks as necrotic lightning pulsed beneath his translucent flesh.

His infernal draconic eyes narrowed cunningly while he observed the mountains below with arrogant calmness.

Unlike Axe Bone Tyrant’s violent brutality, the Corpse Wyvern Lord radiated cold patience.

Like a venomous predator waiting for trapped prey to exhaust itself.

‘BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!’

Suddenly, another earth-shattering explosion erupted, and the mountains collapsed as Axe Bone Tyrant swung his colossal petrified axe downward. Terrifying death energy exploded outward like a black tsunami.

Even distant Legendary Kings would be blown away by those shockwaves. As for ordinary Legendary Lords? Their bodies would shatter instantly upon contact. Which was precisely why the undead armies remained far from the battlefield.

The Axe Bone Tyrant was simply too destructive.

‘BOOOOOOM!!!’

Another slash descended. The ancient formation barriers hidden beneath the mountains began collapsing one after another.

Gigantic runic arrays shattered apart. The concealed underground sanctuary was finally exposed beneath the fractured earth.

At that moment, the Axe Bone Tyrant stepped forward with monstrous bloodlust erupting from his colossal skeletal body.

Its vortex-filled chest cavity roared violently as its crimson soul-fire burned with savage battle intent.

Then his thunderous voice exploded across heaven and earth.

“Little thief! Today is the day of your eternal damnation!”
