"Hey, hey, we were kind enough to help you out of that zombie horde. The least you can do is get out and show so gratitude, right?"
Hearing the muttering from outside the car window, the blonde school nurse in the driver's seat hesitated.
"Ms. Marikawa, don't listen to them. Absolutely do not open the door!"
From the back seat, the pink-haired girl with glasses, Saya Takagi, spoke urgently.
"The glass on this car should be bulletproof. We don't have to worry about their weapons."
"The mont we open the door… they'll threaten us."
"O-okay…"
Shizuka Marikawa nodded, but the worry on her face did not lessen.
"But the road ahead is blocked. We can't drive through either…"
"Hey! Can the people in the car hear us or not?! Get out already!"
The shouting outside continued.
Several delinquent bikers in leather jackets and gaudy hairstyles had surrounded the blood-sared Humr, looking it over from all sides.
They were carrying what looked like hunting shotguns and occasionally slung them over their shoulders, clearly quite proud of themselves.
Judging from the zombies lying dead all around them, they really had killed a fair number.
The problem was that the roadblock trapping Shizuka's group here had also been set up by them.
"I got a look at the woman driving."
One biker with tattoos on his arms stared through the Humr's windshield and spoke to his companions.
"Those tits are so huge I wanna crush them in my hands! Once they co out, I'm gonna knead them as hard as I can."
"Then I want the two schoolgirls in sailor uniforms in the back."
"They're way better than those old ladies from earlier. Those hags only deserve to be fed to the zombies!"
It was obvious that they had already started treating Shizuka and the others trapped inside the car as spoils of war and were discussing how to divide them up.
"These bastards…"
Hearing the filthy words from outside, Rei Miyamoto was furious, but her body couldn't stop trembling.
She realized that without weapons, there was absolutely no way their group could fight ard thugs.
"Busujima-senpai, what do we do?"
Saya Takagi clenched her teeth.
At a mont like this, even she couldn't co up with a good solution, so she could only turn to the purple-haired girl in the passenger seat.
"…"
Saeko Busujima remained silent.
At her feet lay a wooden practice sword stained with blood, perhaps the only thing in the vehicle that could even barely be called a weapon.
But going up against that many n and guns with just a wooden sword… was little more than fantasy.
And yet Saeko Busujima was not thinking about any of that.
She stared silently at the bikers outside the window, her body trembling faintly.
Not from fear, but from desire—the desire to cut through their limbs, to sever flesh and bone!
Just as those lawless n wished to indulge themselves in evil during the apocalypse, the bloodlust that Saeko had long suppressed deep in her heart was also beginning to rise.
"…Busujima-senpai?"
Saya's puzzled call snapped Saeko back to herself.
Glancing at the increasingly impatient bikers outside—who had already begun striking the windows with their gunstocks—Saeko finally spoke softly.
"I'll get out first and see if I can create so chaos."
"Ms. Marikawa, use that chance to break through with the car and take the others away."
"Eh?"
Hearing Saeko's plan, even Shizuka Marikawa understood what it ant.
"But if you do that, Busujima-san, then you'll…"
"It's better than everyone being trapped here."
Saeko Busujima smiled faintly, her cold beauty carrying a trace of resolve.
"Don't you and Miyamoto-san still need to find your families?"
"Compared to that, I don't really have anything tying to Tokonosu City. I'm more suited to staying behind."
The two girls in the back seat opened their mouths, but no words ca out.
Saeko's family was overseas, and after the apocalypse broke out, she had nowhere in Tokonosu she needed to go.
They, however, were different. Their families were still local.
"Busujima-senpai…"
"There's no need to say anything. I've already decided."
Seeing that her companions still wanted to argue, Saeko shook her head slightly and turned toward the window.
"Besides, if we drag this out any longer, they may damage the car."
Because the door still hadn't been opened, several of the bikers were already cursing and pulling out what looked like homade Molotov cocktails.
They muttered crude threats, the rough aning being that if the won inside refused to strip and co out, they would burn them all alive.
"Rember. The mont chaos breaks out, you must break through the encirclent."
With that, Saeko reached for the door.
The mont it opened, everyone inside the car held their breath in tension.
But what happened next followed none of Saeko's expectations.
As the bikers stared greedily at the won inside the vehicle, they had no idea that lines of deadly laser fire were already descending from above.
And of course, what descended from above as well was Drake.
"What're you idiots babbling about? Just kill them."
He looked in puzzlent at the corpses of the bikers, now pierced through by laser fire, then turned toward the stunned Saeko and the others.
"One, two… good, everyone who's supposed to be here is here. Nobody's missing."
Faced with the sudden appearance of a "rescuer," Saeko cautiously asked,
"Thank you for your help. May I ask who you are…?"
"I ca looking for Shizuka Marikawa."
As Drake looked over the girl in front of him, he couldn't help marveling inwardly.
It was true that from her hair color and appearance alone, he could instantly recognize that she was Saeko Busujima, the most popular character in Highschool of the Dead.
But seeing her in person was sothing else entirely.
"Please tell her that Rika Minami is safe at the villa we were at earlier."
The mont he ntioned Rika's na, Shizuka Marikawa lowered her guard and opened the car door.
"Young man… what you said, is it true?"
"It's true."
While speaking, Drake did not waste any ti. He cast Appraisal on everyone in front of him.
The result was sowhat unexpected.
Among all of them, only Shizuka Marikawa had the potential to gain a contract skill!
