"This is bad!"
She gasped in surprise.
Her eyes narrowed at the sudden attack. The trajectory was aid at... Sion? Or the monster?
She did not dare to gamble, but at her current speed, she simply could not reach him in ti to intercept it.
An arrow?
Sensing the projectile hurtling toward him from afar through his sonar detection, Sion instinctively used shockwave to intercept it.
The arrow carried far more kinetic energy than he had anticipated. His attack rely knocked it slightly off its original trajectory.
No! It was precisely because its trajectory was altered that it headed straight for Sion!
"Shockwave: Barrier."
The combat awareness he had honed over past hour allowed Sion to remain completely calm and unleash his magic at maximum defensive output.
A defensive shockwave, one ter in diater, expanded outward, followed by a explosion that echoed through the cave.
The sudden burst of concussive force swept the arrow hurtling toward Sion up into the air, completely neutralizing its kinetic energy.
This was a magic designed to detonate outward from a fixed point. The impact shield that maximized concussive force in a single instant to achieve the ultimate defensive effect.
This level of physical strength behind an arrow... is it from an upper class adventurer?
When his initial Shockwave failed to destroy the arrow, Sion realized the opponent's strength and thus deployed his strongest defensive barrier.
Who's trying to assassinate ?
Realizing that the arrow only headed straight for him because he had altered its path with his attack, Sion deduced that this was likely a misunderstanding.
He did not have ti to dwell on it. Even if Orc was not agile, it still had enough ti to raise its weapon.
The massive weapon swung down toward Sion, and in that split second, he released his defensive barrier once again.
Another explosion rang out.
The concussive force deflected the attack, forcing the massive monster to stagger back.
Taking advantage of its broken stance, Sion stepped into its guard, placed his palm firmly against its abdon, and whispered, "Shockwave: Point Blank."
Unleashing a Shockwave at zero distance, a bloody hole tore through its massive torso.
Gore splattered from its back.
A second later, the monster collapsed. It rapidly dissolved into ash, dropping a new magic stone while Sion remained completely untouched.
Turning his head, Sion saw a High Elf walking toward him from a distance, accompanied by a Cat Person supporter carrying a massive backpack.
"I'm truly sorry."
The High Elf said apologetically, "I misjudged the situation just now. I thought you were in danger, so I fired an arrow to kill that monster."
"I did not anticipate that your magic would alter the arrow's trajectory, nearly causing it to strike you."
Had Sion not been so cautious and reacted, the arrow likely would have just cleanly killed the Orc.
But because he reacted and changed its path, had he been any slower in deploying his barrier, he'd have been severely injured by the deflected shot.
In a sense, it was an incredibly dangerous blunder.
"Who are you...?" Sion looked at the familiar figure in front of him and asked.
"I'm Riveria Ljos Alf, a mber of the Loki Familia."
Riveria bowed slightly and gestured to her side. "This is Anakitty Autumn, a rookie of the Loki familia, who is temporarily serving as my Supporter."
"I'm really sorry about that," Anakitty carrying the large backpack bowed deeply.
Riveria wore a dress with a red cloak draped over her shoulders.
She had a shortsword hanging at her waist, a staff in one hand, a longbow in the other, and a quiver on her back. Her staff appeared to be crafted from the branches of the Sacred Tree, with a magic stone inlaid at the top. It was a staff befitting the elven royal family.
Clearly, she hadn't yet acquired Magna Alvs, which was hailed as one of the finest staffs in the world.
Judging from her aura, Riveria was likely only Level 3, which ant she was still relatively inexperienced compared to her future self.
However, fifteen years from now, Riveria's appearance would remain exactly the sa.
Considering she was already 71 years old when she left the Elven Forest, Sion was not surprised.
Adventurers who received Falna aged slower upon reaching higher levels, let alone Elves, who were naturally a long lived species.
"Since it was a misunderstanding, no harm done," Sion smiled and said. "On the contrary, I should thank you. Even though it backfired, you still acted out of a genuine desire to help."
Every group has its darkness.
There were many malicious adventurers who engaged in Player Killing or pass parading monsters onto others for profit, which was why there were so many unspoken rules in the Dungeon.
Furthermore, mbers of other Familias would likely turn around and run away to avoid being implicated if they saw a stranger in trouble.
Altruistic adventurers like her were actually in the minority. Not to ntion, Sion recognized her as one of the main characters in Sword Oratoria.
"Thank you for your understanding." Riveria breathed a sigh of relief, then asked, "May I ask how I should address you?"
"My na is Sion. As for my affiliation..."
Sion introduced himself, hesitating slightly before saying, "Well, I guess you could say I'm unaffiliated. I don't have a Familia."
"Without a Familia?" Riveria blinked in surprise.
