"Are you heading down to the twelfth floor?" Riveria asked.
"No, my Mind is nearing its limit. Going any deeper would be too dangerous," Sion shook his head.
"Shall we form a party, then?"
Upon hearing Sion's words, Riveria's eyes lit up. "Of course, I an no harm."
"I know I can trust the Loki familia," Sion smiled. "Actually, you are the first mage I have t. Perhaps exchanging ideas with you will spark so new inspiration."
Riveria had entirely too many questions about Sion, but his reasoning was more practical. He wanted to go down to the lower floors to take a look, but his Mind was running low.
The secret protection from the Hera Familia mber was ultimately just that secret. If an unexpected situation arose and he depleted his Mind entirely, he would be placed in a dangerous predicant.
Teaming up with a Level 3 adventurer solved that problem.
"What is magic to you?"
The twelfth floor was defined as the final floor in the upper section.
Because Ouranos continuously prayed with his divine will from Babel, the dungeon's sentience was suppressed in these upper floors.
In this area closest to the altar, the atmosphere was relatively inactive, and there were no floor bosses.
With their combined strength, exploring these floors was virtually risk free.
"A power capable of triggering supernatural phenona," Riveria pondered for a mont before finally giving the generally accepted answer.
"Is that so?"
Sion chuckled, then gathered Mind in his hand.
Through Riveria's perception, she felt the initially stable Mind begin to liquify, eventually forming several tangible magical projectiles.
Then Magic Bullets were launched towards the swarm of purple moths fluttering toward them.
The monsters turned to ash, and their magic stones dropped to the floor.
Sion simply beckoned with his finger, and his magic transford into an invisible hand the kind from rezero, effortlessly retrieving the magic stones and bringing them to him.
"This is... pure Mind manipulation?" Riveria looked utterly surprised.
Mind is a form of energy, and magic is a supernatural phenonon caused by igniting that energy. This had always been Riveria's understanding.
But she, or rather, the people of this world, had overlooked one crucial detail.
"Magic is a power that can cause supernatural phenona, but you have overlooked one point."
"The manipulation of Mind itself is also a supernatural phenonon," Sion chuckled.
"The incantation was never strictly necessary, what truly important is the final magical effect."
"By directly training your control over raw Mind, you can improve control over magic itself, thus bypassing the need to trigger phenona through chanting."
In a sense, chanting was equivalent to using hand seals in Naruto.
"Without recognizing this most crucial link, congenital magic could never fully develop."
For adventurers, magic could only be used if they had a spell inscribed in their magic slots.
In other words, adventurers treated magic rely as a powerful weapon, never seriously considering the true nature of magic itself.
For Elves, spells could only be cast through specific, culturally ingrained incantations. Even mages could not escape this rigid concept during their training.
However, for Sion undergoing a ritual to achieve a qualitative change in his Mind was, in itself, grasping a supernatural force.
What this world had overlooked was precisely the most important foundation of magic.
Pure Mind control.
"Mind control..." Riveria seed deep in thought.
Pure Mind control was a revolutionary concept in this world, because even the most advanced magical races, at most, only practiced controlling the output of their already cast spells.
Both trained a mage's focus, but they were fundantally different.
Controlling raw Mind was far more fundantal and far more efficient.
"A monster is coming. Is it... an Infant dragon?"
Sion looked at the massive monster erging from the tunnel ahead and could not help but show interest.
It stood 1.5 ters tall, but its overall body length exceeded four ters. It was covered in a large patch of amber colored scales and sported a long, thick tail and razor-sharp claws.
This was an Infant Dragon.
Although it lacked wings, its robust body and tough scales clearly showed it possessed physical power far exceeding that of an Orc.
Infant dragons appeared on Floors 11 and 12. They were rare monsters with very low spawn rates.
Regardless of the world, or whether it was defined as good or evil, the dragon was a universal symbol of power. Even the weakest Infant Dragon was practically a mini-boss on this floor.
A single one was enough to easily wipe out an entire party of rookie adventurers.
"Wind Revolving Bullet."
Sion conjured three bullets and launched them toward the monster.
Unlike his previous encounters, Sion's attack was noticeably hindered this ti.
Although the bullet could punch through the creature's defenses, they only managed to inflict several moderately deep wounds.
"I couldn't deliver a fatal blow?"
Sion murmured. He imdiately adjusted his control, manipulating the Bullets to continuously grind across the monster's body in a coordinated assault.
In just three seconds, the Infant Dragon was torn to pieces, but the Mind consumption required to sustain the attack was severe.
