Now reading: Chapter 52: Despair from Danmachi: The Magic Grandmaster, a Action novel by verse7.

Sion nodded. He had already recognized the sisters.

In the future, Shakti would beco the Captain of the Ganesha familia.

She was one of the few adventurers who'd reached the top of Orario as a pure human adventurer.

Her sister wasn't nearly as lucky. Despite her talent and potential, she would be killed during evilus's attack.

Without a doubt, these two were valuable assets, and Sion was satisfied with his heroic rescue of the damsels in distress.

"Thank you for saving our lives." Shakti bowed slightly and then said, "I'm sorry, but I've a favor to ask... Could you please help collect my companion's body?"

"Sure, it's nothing." Sion nodded in agreent.

Helping mbers of the sa familia and bring back the bodies of their fallen adventurers was an unspoken rule in the dungeon.

More often than not, adventurers get devoured in the dungeon.

"Thank you for your help." Shakti bowed again.

"We're very grateful." Adi also bowed.

"Alright, let's go." Sion looked at Shakti, clearly indicating that he'd wanted her to lead the way.

Without saying anything more, the three of them continued deeper into the area.

They encountered several monsters along the way, but Shakti easily defeated them all.

As a level 2, Shakti was quite powerful.

However, she was far inferior to Sion, especially since he excelled at crowd control spells.

From the perspective of pure Status, her strength was sowhat inferior to the Minotaur, but an adventurer's got weapons, combat experience, magic and skills.

These combined advantages might've allowed her to defeat that monster.

Even if Sion couldn't kill a monster of that calibre instantly, he'd still tear it to pieces within seconds.

Soon everyone saw a group of monsters surrounding sothing, tearing apart a corpse and leaving bright blood all around.

"Despicable!" Shakti's gaze was cold and her spear moved in rage, killing the bastard monsters.

Her companion's body was already mangled, with only the upper torso and one leg remaining.

This was, one of the malice the dungeon inflicts on adventurers.

Despair ...

"Rest in peace." Shakti suppressed her discomfort, closed her companion's eyes with her hand, and then picked up the backpack next to him.

There're so minor missing items, but the core contents were there.

Shakti emptied the contents out, and put the important supplies into Adi's pouch.

This large backpack was then used to carry her companion's body.

Shakti slung the backpack over her shoulder, and blood flowed down through the fabric, soaking her body.

Looking at Shakti like this and then at Adi, Sion could feel the cruelty of life.

Although it's the first ti Sion'd seen such a fragnted corpse, he didn't feel nauseated.

Perhaps it's because he'd gotten so used to killing monsters.

For the adventurer Sion, killing monsters and seeing dead humans wasn't fundantally different.

Unless it's soone close to him, even if he felt sympathy, it was only to a slight degree.

"We'll need to go one floor deeper." Shakti looked at Sion apologetically.

"Let's see this through to the end." Sion said calmly.

"Thank you."

After thanking him again, they'd descended to the 17th floor.

After walking around the area several tis, Shakti could only find the bloodstains on the ground gradually disappearing into the walls.

Shakti stuffed several weapons and tattered clothes into her bag, staring at the hellhole in silence.

"How cruel." Adi lowered her head, her eyes filled with tears.

She wasn't afraid, but the thought that her comrades, who'd just been fighting side by side with them, could be gone without a trace was incredibly cruel.

"Life's such a fragile thing." Sion calmly said, "The only way to protect your companions and those who're important to you, is to work hard and improve your strength."

The Ganesha familia had sent quite a few people this ti, including two level 2 and five level 1.

Everyone except the two sisters had died.

They were just unlucky...

Even two level 2 would face total annihilation in the 16th floor, let alone their unfortunate encounter with the monster party.
