[What would a boyish Yakumo-senpai look like?]
With this question in mind, and wanting to make up for breaking his promise twice in a row, Shido discussed their makeup date with Kotori on the night of June 16th.
"Basketball? Tohka is one thing, but I really don't think Mikoto is the athletic type. Well... if you think it's fine, Shido, then the Fraxinus will back you up."
Even though she didn't know why Shido wanted to take Mikoto to the school gym for a date, Kotori nodded. It wasn't a hard request anyway; she just had to get the Fraxinus staff to unlock the gym doors tomorrow.
"Thanks, Kotori."
They could have gone to a public outdoor court, but those places were usually packed on weekends. That's why Shido picked the gym at Raizen High. Thanks to the whole Kurumi incident, so of the school's facilities were still closed for maintenance, making it the perfect empty spot.
And so, the next day. Saturday, June 17th, at 2:25 PM.
Shido was bouncing a basketball by himself on the gym court. He wanted to see Mikoto acting like a boy, and since she used to be a guy before crossing over to this world, he figured she might actually like sports. That was the real reason he picked the basketball court.
"Shido."
[!!!]
Hearing Mikoto's voice, Shido turned around, and his eyes instantly went wide with shock.
Jogging toward him, Mikoto was wearing old-school gym clothes—specifically, dark blue bloors. Over her chest was a white na tag with "Mikoto" written on it. Her fair, slender legs were completely bare, giving off a vibe that was not only energetic and lively, but also incredibly seductive.
"W-Why are you wearing that, Senpai!?"
The gym uniform at Raizen High had recently changed to regular mid length shorts. Even though a lot of the guys protested, bloors were basically an endangered species now.
"As for why... Kotori told this morning that you really wanted to wear this for our date."
Mikoto tied her hair up into a sporty ponytail and tilted her head.
[Kotori!!!]
Shido scread inside his head. He could clearly picture his little sister wearing sunglasses, pouring a glass of whiskey, and saying "My foolish Onii-chan, this is the best I can do for you."
"Just as I thought. Was Kotori tricking ?"
Seeing Shido's frozen expression, Mikoto smiled wryly.
"But, it looks like wearing the bloors was the right choice."
She then blinked playfully.
[She caught !]
Shido realized in despair that his inability to look away from how cute she looked had completely exposed him. He ca here to observe her boyish side, but just by wearing bloors, the young girl's feminine charm had skyrocketed to max level.
"Co to think of it, why did you suddenly want to play basketball with , Shido?"
Mikoto took the ball from Shido and bounced it on the floor.
"Umm... well, you see, you used to be a boy, Yakumo-senpai, so I thought you might be into sports."
He absolutely couldn't admit he wanted to see her act manly. Shido scratched his cheek and ca up with a different excuse.
"Unfortunately... even before crossing over, I was never really good at basketball."
Mikoto gave a weak smile. Back in high school, a lot of her classmates would play basketball during breaks, but she was never one of them.
"Oh, I see."
"But it's fine! Playing basketball with you sounds like fun."
Mikoto smiled, tossed the ball back to Shido, jogged under the hoop, and raised her hands.
"Pass it here, Shido!"
"Okay."
Shido passed the ball to Mikoto. The girl jumped lightly and, with terrible but incredibly cute form, threw the ball toward the hoop.
"Ei!"
Clang!
The basketball bounced off the rim and flew away.
"Ehehe. I missed."
Mikoto stuck her tongue out, looking a little disappointed. For a mont, her playful look left Shido stunned all over again.
The two passed the ball back and forth, tossing it at the hoop whenever they felt like it. However...
[This isn't working! Forget about seeing her boyish side, Senpai is so cute right now it should be illegal!]
Shido realized his plan was failing. Of course, he didn't need Mikoto to act like a boy; it was purely just curiosity.
"Let's have a match, Senpai. A match."
To bring out her competitive, boyish side, Shido decided to raise the stakes.
"A match?"
"Yeah. The first to score three points wins. If I win, my prize is one 'Get Out Of Embarrassnt Pass'!"
Mikoto was always doing things that made his heart race. While he didn't hate it, he was always getting super embarrassed. So, Shido thought this was the perfect chance: if he won, he could use the pass to make her stop teasing him whenever it got to be too much.
"Ugh... Shido is so sneaky. Fine... but if I win, you have to give one 'Shiori-chan Date Ticket'!"
[!!!]
Shido completely forgot that winning a bet always cos with a terrible penalty if you lose.
"Ugh... deal. But just to be fair, no using Spirit powers."
"Mhm."
'I just have to win', Shido thought to himself.
The first round: Mikoto on offense, Shido on defense.
The girl dribbled the ball into the paint, but Shido blocked her path.
[Based on how she played earlier, she really is a beginner. I can do this!]
Shido held his ground, stopping Mikoto from moving forward. If she was a total rookie, he had a solid chance of winning.
[!!!]
But right at that mont, a faint, sweet scent caught Shido's attention. Because they were so close, the girl's ponytail lightly brushed against the tip of his nose. That gentle fragrance made Shido dizzy for a split second.
"Ah..."
By the ti his brain rebooted, Mikoto had already slipped past him and scored a point.
"Ehehe, V!"
The girl flashed a peace sign with a mischievous smile.
Next, it was Shido's turn on offense. Back in the paint, this ti Mikoto was blocking Shido's path.
[Alright, I'll break through in one go...]
Shido backed into Mikoto, gathering his strength to push past her defense.
[!!!]
But instantly, a soft, squishy feeling pressed against his back. It was a softness you would never feel when playing against guys.
[Don't tell ...]
The mont he realized he was pressing right up against the young girl's chest, Shido's brain froze again.
"Ah..."
By the ti he snapped out of it, the basketball was gone. Mikoto, whose face was completely red but still didn't miss her chance, had stolen the ball.
The blushing, heart-pounding basketball match continued until the score was 2:1.
[I have to at least tie the ga!]
Desperate to avoid dressing up as Shiori, Shido jumped high into the air, aiming for a jump shot. But refusing to back down, Mikoto jumped at the exact sa ti.
[Oh no!]
Mikoto raised her hand high and smacked Shido's shot away. But because she jumped so hard, she lost her balance in mid-air.
"Ouch!"
The back of Shido's head hit the floor hard. Still, he managed to catch the falling Mikoto with his body so she wouldn't get hurt.
"Auu... are you okay, Shido?"
"I'm fine..."
[!!!]
He tried to tell her he was okay, but a soft, fluffy sensation on his face completely hijacked his thoughts. Through the dim light, he saw the white cloth with "Mikoto" written on it. And there was only one place that could be. That ant...
"S-Senpai... your... your chest..."
"Eh?"
Mikoto looked down. She realized that because of the fall, she had landed right on top of Shido. And worse... her chest was pressing directly against his face. Through her thin sumr clothes, she could even feel Shido's heavy breathing.(TL:Die Shido!)
"Kyaaa—!"
For a second, the young girl's scream echoed through the entire gym.
After that, Shido, whose brain was completely fried, lost the match. Paying the price of one "Shiori-chan Date Ticket", Shido learned just how stupid it was to want to see Senpai acting like a boy.
