As they pressed forward, Royer asked Rean and Roan with Divine Sense. ’By the way, you and that bird can use Laws of Darkness and Dark Elent, can’t you? Aren’t you able to see further ahead since you have the sa affinity?’
Roan obviously thought about it. ’The Laws of Darkness of this place are truly being well manipulated. If I were at my peak, I could overco it. But with my cultivation suppressed to the Transition Realm, I can’t win against this manipulation. I can only control what I gather near .’
Besides, Rean and Roan could tell that the Darkness here wasn’t the only thing to worry about, although they couldn’t quite tell what else was there.
Of course, they had their advantages. ’Still, you aren’t completely wrong about us being able to see further. No, ’see’ is the wrong word. We can feel if the Laws of Darkness shift for whatever reason, and that will serve as a warning for us if sothing happens.’
’Well, that’s only if whatever exists inside this dark region can cause such shifts,’ Rean added. ’The three of us could move without causing a disturbance in the Laws of Darkness if we wanted, so it is not hard to think potential enemies could do the sa here.’
Other than the fact everything beyond Rean’s Sphere of Light illumination was pitch black, there wasn’t anything to talk about this place. There was no vegetation, no constructions, no nothing. It seems that this kind of barren environnt was quite common in this Golden Palace. There was a problem, though.
"We have been moving for a few hours already, but does anyone here even know where we are going?" Grititi finally asked what was in everyone’s heads.
Werkel shook his head. "I have no idea. At first, we were simply moving away from the purple light from the previous region. Now that even that is gone, I can’t tell if we are moving straight or in circles."
"Don’t worry, I can," Cafantrie seed confident. Then, she showed everyone an item that looked like a big ring. Hanging on a thin chain at its center, there seed to be a light blue wooden carving. Cafantrie raised it in front of everyone, and the wooden carving tilted ever so slightly in the direction they were moving so far.
"What is that?" Rean was the first to ask. There was sothing familiar to it, so kind of power Rean had felt before. Roan and Kentucky, too, seed to recognize that power.
"This is an item from my clan’s treasure chamber," Cafantrie spoke. "It has so weird requirents to be used, but this environnt is just perfect for it. I won’t tell you how it works since I don’t want any of you thinking about stealing it from . But then again, if I at least didn’t show you how I’m guiding myself, you would not believe it. All you need to know is that we need to follow the direction the wooden carving is pointing at."
Everyone could see each other’s confused expressions. Obviously, none of them had ever seen that item from Cafantrie before. Well, the world of cultivation is full of weird trinkets, and even if they lived forever, they would never see them all.
"So be it," Grititi didn’t care. "As long as we have so idea of which direction to go, that is enough. It is better than being completely lost here."
Rean, Roan, and Kentucky didn’t comnt anything, but they realized what Cafantrie’s item was doing. After all, they know soone capable of using the sa kind of power.
’Karma...’
Yes, her item was capable of using karma.
’If I have to guess, I think she is using that thing to show the direction of a region she has karma with. After all, she has been to the Golden Palace before,’ Kentucky comnted.
Rean and Roan nodded. It most likely wasn’t just that, and so extra requirents were necessary, but in a nutshell, that was probably how it worked.
The first day quickly went by, but they found nothing.
Then a week...
Then a month...
The group soon began to doubt if Cafantrie’s item truly worked at all. "Are you sure this thing is right?"
"It should be..." Even Cafantrie narrowed her eyes. "But this is the Golden Palace. Things here are never normal. Perhaps it affects my treasure. Or maybe this region is indeed this big. I can’t tell."
Considering the twins’ group spent several months in the Molten Ocean, they didn’t find it impossible for this region to be indeed this big.
Yet, that was only the start. Months went by, and no exit could be seen.
As one can imagine, everyone tried to co up with their own thods and solutions to find a way out. Even Cafantrie herself doubted her treasure was working correctly. Even more ti passed with no results in sight. They only have ten years in the palace, and just a few days ago, it has completed two years since the Golden Palace opened. Who knows how far they actually were? Perhaps they were still in the initial regions and had no idea.
Unfortunately for everyone, the only thing that seed to give them any direction to follow was still Cafantrie’s treasure.
"Alright, let’s give up using Cafantrie’s little toy," Werkel couldn’t take that anymore. "We have been in this shit place for so long that I don’t doubt her treasure is actually being manipulated to make us move in circles."
Cafantried wanted to deny it, but she had been thinking the sa for a while already. She sighed, putting her treasure away. "So, what do you suggest?"
"As I see, we have two options," Werkel spoke. "There doesn’t seem to be any dangers in this place, or we would have found it already. We can stick together and select so random direction to go, or we can simply separate and move in several different directions. Perhaps soone from our group can make it out. Of course, that would also be based on luck."
"Could this region actually be about that?" Celis comnted. "Sothing based on luck?"
"It is not out of the realm of possibilities, right?" Rean shrugged.
Silence took over. It did feel like that. Or perhaps they fell into so trap? They wouldn’t be able to tell.
