Capítulo 1984: Chapter 888: Death Magic

Everyone looked at Wang Qing’s skeletal remains and felt an urge to curse. If he’d just held on a little longer while the Human-head deity was questioning him, he could have survived.

“So basically, Lin Baici’s answer was right, and this poor sucker got played by the god?”

The wedding ring woman imagined herself in that situation and shook her head vigorously. If it were her, she’d be dood too.

“Haha, if it were an Indian, it wouldn’t have happened!”

Huang Cheng chuckled lightly.

In India, shaking your head ans yes, and nodding ans no.

“FUCK, just one dead, and it’s a nobody fish.”

Ery stared at Lin Baici and warned everyone, “Be really careful of this guy.”

The best outco would be if a Dragon Level or Lin Baici’s woman got injured or killed, then he’d have to fight that god.

That way, they could pick up the pieces.

The Human-head deity glanced at Lin Baici’s group and then turned towards Raphael’s side.

As a god, one should uphold the principles of fairness.

This group enjoyed my little magic trick, so now it’s the other group’s turn.

Whoosh!

The wedding ring woman’s group breathed a sigh of relief at the sight.

It’s not that they’re cowards. Even a Dragon Level powerhouse like Fish Ball Guy needs a breather. The rules’ pollution back-to-back is too much for anyone.

Raphael’s people started cursing, but there was no escape.

The Human-head deity pulled a deck of cards from his pocket, shuffling them as he looked at Kreiser.

Kreiser, trying to stay neutral, had stepped off the bus earlier and hadn’t joined any group, so he was now standing alone.

Being stared at by the Human-head deity made his scalp tingle with fear.

Luckily, he was quick-witted and hurried over to Raphael’s side.

It’s not that he didn’t want to go to Lin Baici; he was worried if he went over, the Human-head deity would target him first.

As expected, once Kreiser blended into the crowd, the Human-head deity was satisfied: “The magic trick I’m going to perform next is called ‘Card Guessing!'”

“You can pick any card from the deck, rember the suit and number, then put it back. No matter how it’s shuffled, I can find it!”

The Human-head deity explained the rules, smiling: “So, who will be my assistant?”

No one answered.

“It’s really simple, don’t be afraid!”

The Human-head deity reassured them, then chose Ery: “It’s you!”

Ery stepped forward, casting a covert glance at Raphael, and after getting a nod, he took a deep breath and started negotiating: “I’ve seen this kind of magic trick many tis, it’s lost its novelty!”

“Hmm?”

The Human-head deity paused in his shuffling: “Are you suggesting I try a different trick?”

“What I an is, how about you shuffle, and I’ll guess?”

Ery suggested.

The Human-head deity was surprised: “You know this trick too?”

“Please enlighten !”

Ery hoped the Human-head deity would agree.

“Alright then!”

The Human-head deity also wanted to see soone else’s magic trick: “But just so you know, if you ss up, you’ll have to atone for the audience with a dramatic apology!”

Ery raised an eyebrow, suppressing his dread, and smiled with a nod: “No problem, but can I use my own deck of cards?”

“Sure!”

The Human-head deity urged, “Please begin!”

Watching Ery take a deck from Raphael, Li Yintong was not happy: “This is definitely a Taboo thing!”

With this thing, these Europa People would get through this pollution smoothly, and then it’d be our turn to suffer again.

Both sides now were hoping the other would start a fight with this god first.

Ery shuffled the cards and then, with a swoosh, fanned them out.

“Pick one, please!”

The Human-head deity casually picked a card, rembered the suit and number, then put it back.

“Do you want to shuffle?”

Ery smiled and asked.

“Yes!”

The Human-head deity took the deck and started shuffling.

Ery was calm. If he could shuffle himself, he wouldn’t even need Raphael’s Eyes of the Star God to help; his skills would suffice. But now…

It’s fine.

The Human-head deity finished shuffling and handed the deck back to Ery.

Ery took it and started searching for the card.

He’d actually already heard Raphael tell him the answer, but he still pretended, flipping through more than twenty cards before finding the nine of spades.

“This one!”

Ery took out the card, pinching it between his index and middle fingers, showed it to the Human-head deity, then flicked it away forcefully.

The move was quite dashing and free-spirited, like a Gambling King dominating Las Vegas casinos.

The Human-head deity comnted: “You got it, but the process was unremarkable, not thrilling enough!”

“It’s just a card magic trick, not so death-defying stunt like Saw or a water-torture escape act; how thrilling could it be?”

Li Yintong muttered, hoping the Human-head deity would up the ante for those European guys.

[If it learns humbly, it can get through smoothly; if it’s disdainful, it’ll get handled!]

“I’ll keep honing my skills!”

Ery wasn’t scornful, even feigning humility, but he didn’t take the Human-head deity’s words to heart. Anyway, he passed this round, so he’d just watch others struggle.

Being a magician, the Human-head deity was best at reading minds, so Ery’s expression didn’t fool him in the slightest.

“You lack respect for magic!”

The Human-head deity urged, “Let’s go again, please shuffle.”

The god’s tone was very calm, but it made Ery break out in a cold sweat.

This was clearly a sign he was about to be taught a lesson.

There’s no avoiding it, he just had to go for it!

Ery started shuffling!

The sea breeze blew, swaying the palm trees.

On the beach, Aunt Mink was humming a little tune while sunbathing, feeling quite pleased.

Because the situation was better than expected.

“So these are supposed to be the best of humanity?”

“Is that all there is?”

Aunt Mink chuckled lightly, seeing those humans struggle desperately in the carefully crafted rules pollution, like ants.

But there was a problem; Xia Hongmian still hadn’t shown up.

In the nearby villa, a man in a black suit opened the door and hurried over.

“It’s been found that the one who cleansed the Bankrupt City wasn’t Kreiser, but a Jiuzhou person nad Lin Baici.”

“He’s been a God Hunter for less than a year, very young!”

“With so many humans, a few geniuses are normal!”

Aunt Mink was noncommittal, waving off the man in black; it was people like Feiman, the leaders of the Dragon Level, who should be her focus.

“And there’s one more thing: Oliver isn’t dead!”

The man in black added.

“What?”

Aunt Mink was stunned: “If she’s not dead, why was the Bankrupt City cleansed?”

“Because Oliver followed that Lin Baici away!”

The man in black reported.

“???”

Aunt Mink was baffled, staring at the man in black, resisting the urge to retort, do you know what you’re saying?

A self-aware monster running off with a human?

You think this is so romantic drama elopent?

In the eyes of creatures like Oliver, no matter how handso a human is, he’s no different from a roadside bug.
