Now reading: Chapter 88: Stealing a Moment for Some Work from Diary of a Criminal Investigator, a Drama novel by Braking was timely.

The two walked side by side, with Lu Chuan’s brow tightly furrowed, occasionally looking back at the increasingly distant Qingsong dical Examination Center, already hidden in the cold wind.

After walking for dozens of ters, Lu Chuan stopped.

"Master, sothing’s off, this woman... I still feel sothing’s off."

This ti, Liu Guodong looked at Lu Chuan more seriously.

As a detective, intuition is never the standard for solving cases, let alone a basis for conviction.

However, a detective’s intuition is not quite the sa as the average person’s. Having dealt with various criminals over the years, they’ve developed a kind of experience-based alertness to cri.

Although Lu Chuan hasn’t been in the police force for long and has mainly been engaged in cri scene investigation and forensic work, with less frontline experience, he has encountered quite a few cases.

In the past six months, the Criminal Investigation Team’s homicide clearance rate is one hundred percent, and Lu Chuan has been indispensable.

Having this intuition, or rather experience, is understandable.

Moreover...

Liu Guodong, Lu Chuan, and Zhang Hui had agreed long ago that once the investigation on their side was finished, they’d call Zhang Hui.

But it’s been more than ten minutes since the two of them left Qingsong dical Examination Center, and neither of them took the initiative to call Zhang Hui.

Lu Chuan feels there’s sothing wrong with this woman, and Liu Guodong’s mind is also a bit uneasy.

However, they had just questioned Wang Manli quite thoroughly.

During the conversation, Wang Manli did not show any abnormalities.

The contact with Gao Sheng has WeChat chat records as evidence, and there are surveillance videos proving the fingerprints on the electric scooter.

This perfectly cleared Wang Manli of suspicion in the Gao Sheng disappearance case.

As if the answers had been prepared in advance for Liu Guodong and Lu Chuan’s visit.

"Lu, can you tell the reason?"

Lu Chuan furrowed his brow even more: "I took leave last night to attend my cousin’s engagent banquet, and I saw this woman in the parking garage of Haizhou International Hotel."

"You’ve seen her?"

Liu Guodong was slightly surprised: "She didn’t recognize you just now?"

"We just t briefly in the elevator, she probably doesn’t rember." Lu Chuan shook his head, "At that ti, I felt that this woman looked familiar, as if I had seen her sowhere before."

"Today... that feeling is even stronger."

"Shall we investigate?"

Lu Chuan nodded: "Yes, investigate. Yesterday, this Wang Manli drove a silver-gray BMW sedan."

"A nurse at a dical examination center, with so much money?"

"Also, she went to the seventh floor of Haizhou International Hotel yesterday, which is the guest room departnt."

"The ti I spent at the engagent banquet was just over two hours. When I returned to the underground garage to drive, I noticed that Wang Manli’s car was already gone."

The aning in Lu Chuan’s words was clear.

Since Wang Manli works locally in Haizhou, staying at a hotel overnight is unlikely.

Even if staying at a hotel, it wouldn’t be just for two hours.

So, what did she go to Haizhou International Hotel for yesterday?

Liu Guodong nodded: "I’ll ask my friends in economic investigation to help check Wang Manli’s assets and bank transactions."

Checking financial details, the economic investigation team is more professional and convenient than the criminal investigation team.

Of course, it’s not that the criminal investigation team can’t investigate, but the procedures are more cumberso.

For instance, a formal letter to the bank is required to query the specific information of depositors.

But economic investigation, due to the special nature of their work, has super permissions.

The economic situation of ordinary people is transparent to them.

As for whether soone will help, that’s even easier.

The fingerprint identification Lu Chuan did for them last ti was a huge help.

Having spent four hundred thousand on equipnt, such a small task is naturally a piece of cake.

Since the two have already decided to investigate Wang Manli, there’s no need to stand in the cold wind any longer.

They called Zhang Hui, who was still busy, and Lu Chuan paid for a cab back to the Criminal Investigation Team himself.

Yang Sen and Old Bai haven’t returned yet, and Liu Guodong went to contact his friends in economic investigation.

Lu Chuan now had nothing to do.

The Criminal Investigation Team building was unusually quiet, as many administrative staff were sent out to the scene, leaving only a few people in the building.

With nothing to do, Lu Chuan started scanning fingerprints.

Lately, since all the energy of cri scene investigations was focused on the Song Kun murder case, so regular work was delayed.

A lot of work has piled up, with a dozen or so cases needing fingerprint identification analysis.

Seizing this opportunity, Lu Chuan cleared so tasks at hand.

This week, there were a total of twelve fingerprint identification analysis cases.

There were four robbery cases, three theft cases, and so old cases with new discoveries that also needed fingerprint comparison.

Possessing interdiate fingerprint identification analysis skills, Lu Chuan has recently been handling these relatively simple cases with ease most of the ti.

Though the fingerprint quality collected by the local police stations and the Criminal Investigation Team was typical, after Lu Chuan’s preprocessing, most of them could be matched successfully.

The few unmatched fingerprints were probably because the fingerprint database didn’t have the target person’s fingerprints in the first place.

Even a clever housewife can’t cook without rice, and not even a god could change that.

There’s no particularly fixed, systematic, and unified procedure for fingerprint identification analysis as of now.

Initially, the ministry and provincial departnts established relevant fingerprint identification agencies to leverage fingerprint identification in case solving.

They standardized and unified the ten-fingerprint classification, which is the basis for all fingerprint analysis today.

However, during the handling of specific cases, the simplicity and crudeness of ten-fingerprint classification gradually erged as a disadvantage.

On this basis, various regions developed technologies, integrated classifications, and ford so distinctive fingerprint analysis thods.

Currently, fingerprint identification analysis can be roughly divided into single-fingerprint analysis and linked-fingerprint analysis.

Among them, single-fingerprint analysis is the most widely used.

Of all the single-fingerprint analyses, the Qingdao-style single-fingerprint analysis and the Chongqing-style single-fingerprint analysis are the most famous.

They are also model analysis thods taught in universities for proficiency training.

These two thods each have their advantages and disadvantages.

The Qingdao-style single-fingerprint analysis divides the two main types of fingerprint whorls into 28 major categories and 68 subcategories.

It uses a specially stipulated "analysis rule" for analysis.

The so-called "analysis rule" is engraved with a circle of five-milliter diater, called the analysis circle, and two intersecting lines forming an 80-degree angle called the rule angle line.

Using the "analysis rule" to encircle the fingerprint, feature points are marked, then data calculations are conducted for analysis.

In the Chongqing-style single-fingerprint analysis, fingerprints are divided into arch, loop, and whorl three major categories and 24 subcategories, with the analysis using pictorial symbols.

For instance, for the analysis of whorl-type patterns, these fingerprints consist of ridges, loops, arcs, etc., and are divided into 11 categories based on the structure of the central pattern.

Central circular ridges with a diater not exceeding four milliters are called circular loops, represented by the symbol "0".

Central circular ridges with a diater exceeding four milliters are called long loops, represented by the symbol "①".

Central ridges possessing one or more spirals that rotate a full circle clockwise with a dual-end diater not exceeding four milliters are called circular clockwise spirals, represented by the symbol "9".

Lu Chuan’s interdiate fingerprint identification analysis skills encompass the essence of these two single-fingerprint analysis thods.

Therefore, the fingerprint identification requests submitted by the grassroots police stations and the Criminal Investigation Team are mostly not problematic for Lu Chuan.

Except for a few cases where the clarity of the collected fingerprints is too poor, looking just like a blob of mud, requiring Lu Chuan to spend an extended ti and effort, other fingerprint comparisons take just ten minutes for quick ones and up to half an hour for slower ones.

As evening approached, by the ti Yang Sen and Old Bai returned, Lu Chuan was already comparing the last set of fingerprints.

And Liu Guodong returned from economic investigation, with the results of the investigation on Wang Manli.
