The young woman who had just spoken let out a cold laugh and strode forward until she stood before Chen Xiao.

She wore a red dress, her skin fair and dazzling. She had delicate features, long phoenix eyes, fiery red lips, and chiseled, deep-set features, which, combined with her cold and proud deanor, made her appear quite aggressive.

"My na is Su Linger of the Jiang Family from Capital City. I’m also Ruge’s best friend; we grew up together.

"Let tell you sothing. If you think you can take down Ruge just like that, you’re dreaming! Because Ruge isn’t fighting alone!

"She has us!

"Although you have so skills," she continued, her phoenix eyes sweeping across the room before returning to disdainfully scrutinize Chen Xiao from head to toe, "do you really think you can contend with so many of us?"

Chen Xiao ignored her, instead turning his gaze toward Lu Rugao. His tone was playful. "What’s this? You even brought your best friend? Were you afraid you alone wouldn’t be enough to satisfy , so you asked her to help share the load?

"A pair of beauties... I like the sound of that."

This remark left everyone present dumbfounded.

The Lu and Su Families are both among the Five Great Families of Capital City. How dare this guy offend both at once? Has he gone mad?

A young man shot to his feet, slamd his wine glass on the table, and stared coldly at Chen Xiao. "Brat, how dare you insult Miss Su? I’ll teach you a lesson!" With that, he strode toward them.

As he stepped forward, a wave of whispers broke out in the crowd. He was Murong Lin, the eldest young master of the Huaxi Murong Family, who had been sitting right beside Su Linger and chatting with her just monts before.

The Huaxi Murong Family rose to prominence through martial arts. For three generations, its mbers had served in the military, achieving high ranks. Leveraging this foundation, the family transitioned into business. Over the past few decades, their ventures had been incredibly successful, allowing them to beco one of the three great families of the Huaxi region. In the Divine Land, they were a force to be reckoned with.

Rumor had it that Murong Lin was one of the few Martial Dao prodigies of his generation in the Murong Family. Barely twenty-five or twenty-six years old, he had already reached the Energy Transformation Grandmaster Realm and cultivated his family’s ancestral Long Fist to a state of perfection. He was truly remarkable!

Seeing Murong Lin about to make a move, Lu Rugao quickly said, "Young Master Murong..."

"Miss Lu, there’s no need to persuade !" Murong Lin waved his hand dismissively. "I know how to control myself. Besides, I can’t stand by and watch a grown man act so rudely, hurling vulgar insults at you and Miss Su!" As he spoke, he shot a pointed look at Su Linger.

Jin Zilong also rose quickly, clearing his throat to intervene. "Young Master Murong, this is a fundraising event. It’s not the place for..."

"Young Master Jin, you don’t have to persuade either," Murong Lin said with a faint smile. "As I said, I know my limits."

As he finished speaking, he suddenly sank into his stance and rushed toward Chen Xiao like a swimming dragon. He assud a fighting posture, his Long Fists cutting through the air with a ripping sound, like two cannonballs firing from their barrels.

This display imdiately sent the crowd into an uproar.

"They say the Murong Family’s ancestral Long Fist is tyrannical and overwhelming, powerful enough to swallow mountains and rivers. To see Young Master Murong use it now... he truly has the air of a Grandmaster!"

"He’s unlucky to have offended Young Master Murong. After all, rumor has it Young Master Murong fell in love with Miss Su at first sight years ago in Capital City! For this guy to dare hurl obscenities at Miss Su... isn’t that a death wish?"

"I bet Young Master Murong can take him down with a single punch. I just hope he knows how to hold back and doesn’t kill the guy. We don’t want this fundraising event turning into a martial arts tournant!"

"Hahaha! If you ask , that kid’s about to have the shit beaten out of..."

The man’s words caught in his throat before he could finish.

He saw that just as Murong Lin’s Long Fist was about to land on Chen Xiao, it was brushed aside with startling ease. Chen Xiao had nonchalantly neutralized the seemingly ferocious attack!

THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!

Murong Lin stumbled back several steps, his blood and qi roiling.

SLAP!

SLAP!

SLAP!

Chen Xiao’s slaps landed rcilessly on his face. He was struck so hard his skin split open, and his mouth filled with blood.

The next second, a fist slamd into his chest with ferocious speed.

Murong Lin’s body flew backward like a sack of broken rags. He crashed to the ground, spurting blood, and landed on his back like an overturned turtle. He struggled for a long while, unable to get up.

The entire venue fell dead silent.

Lu Rugao was speechless. I told him not to make a move. Why was he so insistent on courting death? He might know restraint, but Chen Xiao clearly doesn’t. Now look at him, completely humiliated.

Jin Zilong sighed to himself. Another victim.

Feeling a asure of pity, he helped Murong Lin up.

Murong Lin stood with difficulty, coughing nonstop. Staring at Jin Zilong’s calm expression, he swallowed the blood rising in his throat.

"Young Master Jin... he humiliated Miss Lu like that. How can you be so calm?

"This isn’t your style!"

Everyone knew Jin Zilong was Lu Rugao’s loyal lapdog. He’d fly into a rage if another man so much as glanced at her for too long, let alone verbally harassed her.

Jin Zilong’s face burned. This guy really knew how to bring up a sore subject.

All he could say was, "I’ve been in the middle of a breakthrough recently, so my realm isn’t stable. I didn’t want to stoop to his level. I fought him a few days ago, and he only beat by one lucky move.

"That’s why I told you not to be rash. I was afraid he might slip and accidentally kill you."

Murong Lin was speechless. Why didn’t you say so earlier?!

Chen Xiao scoffed. "With that level of skill, you’re trying to play the hero saving the damsel?"

Hearing the mockery, Murong Lin’s face turned ashen. His fists clenched, but he was powerless to do anything.

Seeing the strange looks from the people around him, and then the disappointnt in Su Linger’s eyes, his face flushed beet-red. He wished a hole would open in the ground and swallow him whole. My attempt to show off didn’t just fail miserably—it happened right in front of the woman I admire! This is so damn frustrating.

Su Linger shot a glance at Murong Lin, silently cursing him as a waste of space. Her gaze then fixed coldly on Chen Xiao. "Today, we’re holding a fundraising event. It’s a competition of wealth and influence! What use is your brute force here? What do you have to be so proud of?"

Chen Xiao shot back, "Aside from that mouth of yours, you’re not much use either. Shouldn’t you be the one to get the hell out of here?"

"You..." Su Linger started to retort but was pulled back by Lu Rugao.

When it cos to a war of words, who could possibly win against this scoundrel?!

Lu Rugao suppressed the rage in her heart and said coldly to Chen Xiao, "Your seats are over there."

"Oh? So you even saved seats for us," Chen Xiao drawled mockingly. He then casually led the two won toward the seats Lu Rugao had indicated.

Their seats were set apart from everyone else’s. Sitting down and facing the crowd felt like being a criminal before dozens of judges. It was an incredibly uncomfortable feeling.

Luo Qingli and Zhang Yaqing exchanged a glance. Clearly, Lu Rugao had co prepared today. She was deliberately trying to make things difficult for them, being so malicious with even the seating arrangent.
