Alia Avery propped herself up, her body aching from being thrown, and got to her feet. Her hand was already bleeding. When she had hit Jonah Ross, she was still clutching the jagged neck of the broken bottle. So when Jonah threw her, the glass had shattered and sliced into her palm.
She furrowed her brow, pulled a few shards of glass from her hand, and looked up at the ill-intentioned n before her.
"Weren’t you acting all high and mighty a minute ago? What’s wrong? Not so tough now?"
"You dare hit our boss? We’ll fuck you to death!"
...Without Jonah Ross to keep them in check, the n’s true natures were completely exposed.
Watching them strip off their clothes and walk toward her, Alia backed away uneasily, but her tone didn’t yield an inch. "A bunch of lapdogs. Ptui! You’re so fucking disgusting!"
The mont she finished speaking, one man lunged forward and grabbed a fistful of her hair, while another began to rip her clothes off.
Alia struggled with all her might. She grabbed the man’s hand and bit down hard.
The man yanked his hand back and, in a rage, swung his other hand, slapping Alia across the face. "Bitch!"
"I told you," Alia shouted, her eyes bloodshot with rage, "sooner or later, I’m going to chop that hand of yours off!"
Hearing this, the man raised his hand to slap Alia again, but one of the others stopped him. "Eugene Sawyer, that’s fucking enough."
"Yeah, how could you bring yourself to hit such a pretty little thing?" another man said with a lecherous smile, reaching out to continue tearing at Alia’s clothes.
This ti, Alia didn’t struggle. She just smiled, calm and composed.
’It’s because not long ago, I arranged for Gia Miller to be dealt with in the exact sa way. Except... I was too soft-hearted back then. I only sent three n after her.’
’And now, here I am, with four of them.’
Just as her thoughts began to drift, just as her clothes were nearly torn to shreds, the door was suddenly kicked open with a loud BANG.
Leo Joyce held Jonah Ross by the collar with one hand and threw him to the ground.
Alia slumped to the floor, as if a great weight had been lifted. Her eyes were devoid of emotion as she watched Leo Joyce fight the other n.
Just as Leo Joyce walked over to lift her from the floor, she saw another man rush in. He shoved Leo aside, quickly took off his own jacket, and wrapped it tightly around her. He held her as if he were terrified and in a great hurry, and started carrying her toward the door.
The scene felt so surreal that her eyes welled up. "Cassian..." she choked out, snuggling into his arms.
"It’s okay... Don’t be afraid..." Cassian’s heart was trembling. He couldn’t bear to imagine what would have happened if he’d been even a mont later.
’Thank God, I made it in ti. I made it...’
Leo Joyce watched the two of them leave, a bitter, mocking smile twisting his lips. He shot one last, vicious glare at Jonah Ross, then turned and left.
Jonah Ross rubbed his aching body and coldly pushed himself to his feet.
"Boss, what do we do? Young Master Joyce showed up."
A sinister smile touched Jonah Ross’s lips. "He’s just so punk kid. What’s there to be afraid of?"
Tiana Grayson waited anxiously in the car. Her heart finally settled when she saw Cassian co out carrying Alia, but when she saw Alia’s tattered clothes, a fresh wave of fear and worry washed over her.
Alia wearily looked up at Tiana and gave her a slight nod, trying to reassure her.
’Right now, I don’t want anyone to disturb and Cassian. Not even Tiana. I’m not that upset about being set up this ti. In fact, I’m almost grateful to whoever planned this. They gave a chance to get closer to Cassian.’
