Besides, she was still waiting, waiting for Tristan Grayson to bring it up...
In her heart, she was still clinging to the promise Tristan Grayson had made to her. He had said that once she was out of the hospital, he would remarry her and hold a wedding.
And yet, she had a nagging feeling that it was probably just a lie he’d told on a whim, sothing said without a second thought.
But still, she waited...
She was waiting to finally give up, to let her heart break completely, to eradicate every last hope she never should have had...
From the mont she fell for a man she shouldn’t have, she’d been on a path of self-degradation, straying further and further down it, unable to turn back...
Just then, the phone on the bed began to ring. She slowly lifted her gaze toward the bed, the anguish in her eyes deepening.
She didn’t get up to answer it. Instead, she remained crouched on the floor, hugging herself tightly. It didn’t matter who was calling; right now, she didn’t want to talk to anyone.
The re sight of the phone brought that woman’s voice back to her mind.
Perhaps because she let it ring for so long, the call disconnected. But a mont later, it began to ring again.
She ignored it again. Not even a second passed before it rang once more.
The ringing was too loud, forcing her to get up and answer it. But when she picked up the phone and saw the na on the screen, she froze.
She was scared to answer, terrified that she would once again hear that woman’s voice on the other end.
She stared blankly for what felt like an eternity, until the call disconnected and imdiately started again. Only then did she, with a trembling finger, swipe to answer and press the phone to her ear.
"What is wrong with you? Why are you just now answering your phone?" The man’s voice, anxious and accusatory, ca through the line.
Pain seized Mika Sumrs’s heart, but she forced a calm tone and replied flatly, "Oh... I didn’t hear it..."
"You didn’t hear it? Miss Sumrs, could you co up with a lar excuse? What is it? You just don’t want to answer my calls, is that it?" On the other end of the line, Tristan Grayson was instantly enraged by Mika Sumrs’s words. God only knew how worried and scared he had been when she didn’t pick up, his mind conjuring all sorts of ridiculous scenarios.
The mont Tristan Grayson started yelling, all of Mika’s pent-up grievances erupted. Tears stread uncontrollably down her face. "That’s right, I don’t want to answer your calls! Who the hell do you think you are, Tristan Grayson? Why should I have to pick up just because you call?"
Tristan Grayson’s lips curled into a sneer as he laughed coldly. "Who am I? Heh... Has one month without by your side made you forget everything? It seems I haven’t punished you enough." ’He had called out of genuine concern, and this was the thanks he got. How ungrateful.’
"Tristan Grayson, you’re sleeping around with other won, and you have the audacity to bla for not answering the phone? Let tell you sothing, Tristan Grayson, not everyone has to do what you say! If you can sleep around with other won, I can do the sa with other n. You have no right to control my life."
Hearing her words, Tristan Grayson’s expression turned terrifyingly grim. Her threat kept replaying in his mind: ’If you can sleep around with other won, I can do the sa with other n...’
’So, this woman was planning to openly cheat on him? To make him a cuckold?’
A long silence passed. It wasn’t until he heard her muffled sobs that Tristan Grayson reined in his fury. His voice was hard and cold as he demanded, "Where are you right now? Who are you with?"
"Where I am and who I’m with is none of your business," Mika choked out, her eyes red with tears.
Tristan Grayson let out a derisive laugh, but his tone was vicious. "Let tell you sothing, Mika Sumrs. Until things between us are well and truly over, you’d better behave yourself. If I find out you’re in an improper relationship with another man, I will make you understand exactly what happens to those who betray Tristan Grayson."
