Cassian Jennings gripped the playing cards in his hand and looked up at Leo Joyce. Parting his thin lips, he said coldly, "A woman!"
"A woman?" Leo Joyce’s expression changed abruptly. "What kind of woman?"
"A woman I’ve slept with!" As he spoke, Cassian Jennings turned his head to look at the woman standing not far away. His words carried not a trace of emotion—they were cold and piercing.
The color drained from Alia Avery’s face, and her tightly clenched fists began to tremble faintly.
’A woman he’d slept with! So, in Cassian Jennings’s heart, that’s all I am... just a woman he’s slept with...’
Cassian Jennings’s eyes never left her. When he saw her expression change at his words, his brow furrowed deeply.
But in the next instant, Leo Joyce yanked Cassian Jennings to his feet and threw a punch straight at his face. "You bastard!"
Cassian Jennings dipped his head slightly, casually wiping the corner of his mouth where he’d been hit. He sneered, "Otherwise? What else would she be?"
"Cassian Jennings, you’re a fucking heartless bastard!"
"Hah..." Cassian Jennings didn’t deny it. He simply curled his lip into a mocking smile.
Seeing Cassian’s infuriatingly smug expression, Leo Joyce raised his fist to punch him again.
Alia Avery rushed over and grabbed Leo Joyce’s arm. "That’s enough!"
"Didn’t you hear what he just said?" Leo Joyce shouted, shaking her hand off his arm.
A bitter, mocking smile touched Alia’s lips. "I heard him. And he’s not wrong." ’Isn’t that all I am? Just a woman he’s slept with...’

Just as she was lost in thought, her hand was suddenly grabbed. A familiar male voice sounded next to her ear, "Where are you planning to go?"
—Hearing the voice, she flinched slightly and turned to look at the man in surprise.
The man’s eyes held a dejected look, and his voice was tinged with resignation when he spoke. "Over the past month, we’ve run into each other countless tis. I think we’re fated to et, don’t you?"
His words made her heart tremble once more. Then, recalling his earlier statent, she let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Master Jennings, your ga is terrible. And cliché."
"Is it? It doesn’t matter if your ga is terrible and cliché, as long as it works."
"Hah. I bet you’ve used that line on a lot of won..."
"So far, you’re the only one," Cassian Jennings replied with a smile, feigning embarrassnt as he rubbed his nose.
