Mika was still reeling from what her mother-in-law had just said, so she completely missed Tiana’s signal.
"Mika..." Tiana was on the verge of tears from anxiety. She couldn’t help but call out her na.
Hearing her na, Mika snapped back to reality. Seeing Tiana’s tearful expression, her heart clenched. ’My mother-in-law just said we hard Tiana... but how? What did we do to her?’
"Mika..." Tiana said again, seeing her sister-in-law’s absentminded expression.
This ti, Mika collected herself, nodded, and forced a smile. "Mom, Dad, Tiana and I didn’t hear a thing. Please, don’t fight anymore."
"..." Mae Lynch, worried about upsetting her daughter, decided to drop the subject and said no more.
Tiana, however, put on a cheerful expression and trotted over to Mae Lynch. "Mom, don’t be angry. See? I’m perfectly fine."
"I’m not angry, sweetie. I’m just heartbroken for you," Mae Lynch said softly, pulling Tiana into an aching embrace.
"It’s okay, Mom."
Seeing the tender mont between Tiana and her mother, Mika’s thoughts drifted to her own mom. ’I left without a word... Mom must be furious with .’
At the thought, her eyes reddened and she felt a prickling in her nose.
’I was so selfish, so ungrateful. For Tristan Grayson, I’ve done so many things to disappoint my parents. And now I can’t even go ho to see them.’
Tristan Grayson noticed the change in her expression. He got up from the sofa, walked over to her, took her hand, and started leading her upstairs.
She frowned, her eyes rimd with red, and looked at Tristan Grayson in confusion.
’What is he doing?’
The mont they were inside the room, Tristan Grayson slamd the door shut and pinned her against it without a word. His eyes locked onto hers as he asked coolly, "Were you crying?"
Mika hadn’t expected him to say that. She stared at him, stunned.
"Why were you crying?" His mood always soured whenever he saw her cry. And she just had to be the type who cried all the ti!
Her voice was hoarse as she replied, "I wasn’t crying..."
But the words themselves betrayed her.
Hearing her stubborn denial, Tristan Grayson clenched his fists and sneered, "Heh... Fine... all right... Not crying? You’d better rember this: The one thing I, Tristan Grayson, hate most is you using tears to play the victim!"
His words were so cruel they sent a sharp pain through Mika’s heart.
’So that’s it. In his eyes, my tears are just an act to look pitiful? Tristan Grayson, is that really how you see ?’
She struggled to choke back her tears and shoved him away with all her might. "Don’t worry, I won’t cry. From now on, Young Master Grayson will never see cry again."
This woman had a way of saying things that could infuriate Tristan Grayson in an instant.
This ti was no different. He had been the one to tell her to stop crying and playing the victim, yet hearing her say this now, an uncontrollable fire of rage ignited within him for so reason!
"Good! You won’t cry? Then you’d better make sure I *never* see you cry again. Otherwise, I’ll make you understand the consequences of daring to lie to , Tristan Grayson!"
"I wouldn’t dare. How could I ever dare to lie to you, Young Master Grayson..." Her head was throbbing, and she was utterly exhausted. It wasn’t just emotional fatigue; her body was drained too. She really didn’t have the energy to keep arguing with Tristan Grayson.
She walked toward the bed, ignoring the seething rage of the man behind her.
Furious, Tristan Grayson yanked the door open and slamd it shut behind him. ’Fine. This woman... just fine! If we weren’t in my family’s house, I’d make damn sure to humiliate her...’
