Hearing the door slam shut behind her, Mika Sumrs just gave a sarcastic smile.
For so reason, she felt particularly exhausted today—so exhausted she didn’t have the energy to dwell on Tristan Grayson’s cold, mocking words.
She lay down on the bed and fell asleep a few monts later.
When Tristan Grayson went downstairs, he was imdiately pulled aside by Mae Lynch. Mae Lynch glanced upstairs and, seeing that her daughter-in-law hadn’t erged, whispered, "Well? Is she pregnant?"
"No." Tristan Grayson froze for a second before answering, his voice cold and strained.
The mont she heard "no," Mae Lynch’s expression darkened. "If she isn’t, then what are you doing down here? Get back upstairs!"
"Mom, even if we’re trying for a baby, it doesn’t have to be *right now*. There’s plenty of ti in the future..."
"Tristan, don’t try to pull the wool over my eyes, or your father’s. If she isn’t pregnant by next month, you know what your father is capable of. When that ti cos, I won’t be able to speak up for you anymore."
"I know." Tristan Grayson nodded, his face grim, and headed back upstairs.
’He knew, of course, that his parents were serious this ti. But getting pregnant wasn’t sothing that could happen just because they wished for it.’
Tristan Grayson returned to the room and saw she was already asleep. His brow furrowed, and he lay down gently beside her.
Perhaps he didn’t even realize how soft his gaze had beco in that mont, completely devoid of its usual chill.
He watched the woman sleeping before him, so soundly and sweetly. A place deep in his heart slowly began to thaw. It was the first ti he had ever really looked at her.
All this ti, her features had been a blur to him. Only now did he see what she actually looked like.
This woman wasn’t ugly at all. In fact, she might have been the most purely beautiful woman he had ever seen. ’Why had he never noticed before?’
At that thought, he gave a self-deprecating smile, reached out, and naturally pulled her into his arms. He closed his eyes. ’What is wrong with ? Why am I so focused on this woman all of a sudden?’
They both slept straight through until past eight that evening.
If Mika Sumrs hadn’t been woken up by her growling stomach, she probably could have slept the entire day.
When she woke up, Mika Sumrs wasn’t just hungry. Her entire body ached, so sore she felt like she couldn’t even move.
’Move???? She really couldn’t move?’
She looked up, startled. As she did, her alluring red lips pressed right against Tristan Grayson’s chin. Mika Sumrs’s eyes flew wide in shock, and she imdiately tried to recoil as if she’d been zapped by electricity.
However, a hoarse, commanding voice cut through the air. "I dare you to move." Tristan Grayson had actually woken up the mont the woman in his arms began to stir, but he’d kept his eyes closed and remained silent. Now, feeling the soft, warm pressure on his chin, his eyes snapped open.
For a mont, Mika Sumrs’s brain completely shut down.
’Did she just get caught stealing a kiss???’
’No, she hadn’t been trying to kiss him. It was an accident...’
Mika Sumrs was so nervous she could die; she had no idea how to even begin explaining.
Tristan Grayson looked down at her, taking in her flushed little face. A wicked smirk played on his lips as his pleasant voice drifted out. "Miss Sumrs, this habit of stealing kisses... it’s not a very good one."
"I didn’t—MMPH..." His words snapped her back to reality. Blushing, she opened her mouth to explain, but before she could get a word out, Tristan Grayson silenced her lips with his own.
