Aiden’s POV

"Am I going to be fine?" I grunted, my voice raspy as the pack doctor adjusted the IV drip hooked into my arm.

"You will be after so heavy dication, Alpha," the doctor replied, checking my vitals on the monitor. He sighed, looking down at his clipboard. "Did you eat or drink anything out of the ordinary yesterday? Anything that could have triggered a violent rash like this?"

I racked my brain through the lingering fog in my head. "Nothing of the sort that I can rember."

"Alright then," the doctor said, nodding slowly. "We’ll run a few more tests, and you’ll be feeling much better soon."

With that, he turned and left the room, leaving alone with my thoughts. I stared at the ceiling, my jaw clenching. Why the hell did I suddenly break out in this agonizing, itching rash? It was so bad yesterday that it had literally stopped my breathing for a few horrifying monts. This had never happened to before. I was an Alpha werewolf; my immune system was supposed to be flawless. I had never been allergic to a single thing in my entire life.

The door clicked open, and Emily walked in. The mont she saw , her face contorted into an expression of pure, heartbreaking worry.

"Oh, Aiden... I feel so bad seeing you in this condition," she murmured softly. She walked over to the bedside table and carefully set down a warm, covered bowl. "I brought you so soup to help you get better."

I forced myself to give her a small nod. "Thank you, Emily. But you really don’t have to do things like this. You’re pregnant. The workers should be handling the cooking, not you."

She offered a gentle, devoted smile, reaching out to lightly touch my arm. "You are my husband, Aiden. Of course I will do anything for you."

I gave her a faint, tight smile in return.

"The pack function is happening tonight," Emily ntioned casually, shifting her weight. "Are you still planning to go, seeing you in this condition?"

I frowned, trying to sit up, though the movent made my skin itch furiously. "I am the Alpha. Of course I have to show up."

"I can do that for you," Emily offered instantly, her eyes bright with reassurance. "You really don’t need to bother yourself with things like this right now. I am the Luna. I can take over the function and represent us."

I paused, thinking it over. She was right. In this state, I was completely unfit to stand in front of the pack elders and high-ranking guests. I couldn’t even breathe properly yesterday.

"Fine," I muttered, sinking back into the pillows. "You can go ahead and handle it."

Emily smiled beautifully, clearly pleased. "Rest up, okay?" she said sweetly before turning on her heel and leaving the clinic room.

The mont the door shut, I let out a heavy, frustrated sigh. I couldn’t just lie here like a useless corpse. I needed to do sothing. Every single passing day that Alina spent living with Lucian enrages the absolute fuck out of . Lucian had a whole new woman parading around as his fiancée now. Alina had no business staying there anymore. She didn’t belong to him.

Grabbing my phone from the bedside table, I dialed Knox’s number. "Co over to my place right now," I commanded the mont he picked up. "It’s important."

About an hour later, the door to my room pushed open and Knox walked in. He stopped dead in his tracks, staring at my blotchy, irritated skin in shock. "How the hell did you get this rash?"

"It’s sothing I can’t explain right now," I said dismissively, waving my hand. "But I need you to do sothing for , Knox."

Knox crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. "What is it?"

"I want you to look into Alina for ," I said, my voice dropping into a deadly serious tone. "I want to know what she is doing right now, especially now that Lucian is publicly engaged to another woman. I want to know exactly what kind of state she is in."

Knox’s brow furrowed, and he shook his head. "Aiden... I think that would be a terrible idea. You know the rogues hate just as much as they hate you. I really don’t think sneaking into rogue territory is the best move right now."

I went quiet, considering his words. Knox was probably right. It was a massive security risk. But the sheer ignorance of not knowing what was happening to my fated mate was slowly killing .

Unable to take the confinent anymore, I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, gripping the railing to pull myself up.

"What the hell are you doing?" Knox snapped, stepping forward to block . "Aiden, you can’t just stay here and ruin your recovery. You are in terrible condition. The doctor said you need at least a week out of sight to fully get better. Sit back down."

"I can’t just lie here and do nothing, Knox. I need sothing to be done," I growled, glaring at him.

Knox stared at for a long mont, seeing the stubborn finality in my eyes. Finally, he let out a defeated groan and gave in. "Fine. I will look into it for you. But you stay on this bed. Do you hear ?"

A wave of relief washed over . "Thank you. This will be a good thing."

Knox didn’t leave imdiately, though. He looked at , a calculated, searching expression taking over his face. "What does this actually an, Aiden? You want Alina back in your life... but what about Emily?"

I looked Knox dead in the eye, deciding there was no point in hiding the truth from my closest ally anymore. "I won’t lie to you, Knox. I want Alina back. And it’s not just for the benefit of the pack’s power anymore... it’s for . My wolf calls out for her constantly. Sothing happened that has never happened in werewolf history—even after our divorce, our mate bond never broke. It’s still completely intact. That ans everything."

Knox listened intently as I continued, the fire burning hot in my chest.

"The Moon Goddess herself said Alina is destined for great things. She possesses a power that no one else can ever hold. That’s why the stability of this pack was always so strong whenever she was around. I am not giving that up for anything or anyone."

"And what about Emily?" Knox asked quietly. "Will she be able to share you with Alina?"

I scoffed coldly, my face hardening into a mask of pure Alpha authority. "I don’t care what Emily thinks. She will just have to live with it."

A slow, surprising smirk crept onto Knox’s face. He nodded slowly, a dark gleam in his eyes. "You know what? I think that’s a great idea."

I blinked, slightly caught off guard. It was the first ti Knox had ever fully supported in sothing like this without arguing.

"Get so rest, Alpha," Knox said, turning toward the door. "I’ll go find out exactly what’s happening with Alina."
