Chapter 1361: Chapter 1358: He Finally Understands, Liking is Reckless, Love is Restrained
“Professor Marlowe, I have made my decision.”
Aidan Lucas’s deep eyes hid intense pain, yet his expression remained unaffected, desperately maintaining his composure.
He handed a USB drive to Professor Marlowe.
“After I leave, find a way to get this to Lily.” He could no longer face her.
He feared that if he saw her, he would never be able to let go.
“Mr. Lucas…” Professor Marlowe, seeing the pain in Aidan Lucas, tried to discourage him.
Aidan Lucas stopped him, “I’ve known for a long ti that you tampered with my dication.”
“Mr. Lucas…” Professor Marlowe’s face turned instantly pale, his body trembling involuntarily, “I was wrong, Mr. Lucas, I just wanted you to…”
“I know, you were just afraid I wasn’t determined enough,” Aidan Lucas softened the coldness in his eyes and gently patted Professor Marlowe on the shoulder.
All these years, since he was all alone when he ca into this world.
Apart from his grandmother, Dylan Wellington, and Ben Lucas, Professor Marlowe was the fourth person who understood him the most.
“In fact, I should thank you for adding other components to the dication. If my heart could have remained hard, I would have been confident that Lily would eventually be mine.”
But, he could no longer bear to see Lily suffer, to see Lily cry.
Aidan Lucas laughed at himself.
Having lived for so long, this was the first ti he realized that he was such an indecisive man.
He rembered a phrase from a book he had flipped through unintentionally, “Liking is unrestrained, love is restrained.”
He used to dismiss such words as rely therapeutic chicken soup for foolish lovers.
How could one possibly restrain their feelings if they truly loved soone?
A feeling that could be restrained could never be love.
However, now, he truly understood the aning of that phrase.
His love, indeed, could not be restrained.
But he could not bear to watch the woman he loved break down in tears.
The experience of loving soone was so bitter, so sweet, filled with sensations utterly unlike hatred.
Born as a human, his world was always filled with hatred, violence, shadows, and darkness.
Only when he t Lily did his world gain a splash of bright color.
This kind of color, he did not want to blacken completely with a hardened heart.
Aidan Lucas looked at Professor Marlowe and, for the first ti, showed a relieving smile.
“Let’s start, I’m ready.”
Hypnosis was irreversible. Once the primary personality’s mories were erased, the only way to turn everything back was one.
He voluntarily disappeared, yielding, rging the secondary personality’s mories into the primary personality’s brain.
Only then, after the truth-knowing primary personality woke up, would he forgive Lily and treat her well.
But, doing so, he was destined to be in eternal slumber, even to disappear.
“Mr. Lucas…” Professor Marlowe looked at Mr. Lucas with a face full of reluctance, his eyes already brimming with tears.
“Don’t worry, he won’t co after you when he wakes up. If you want, you can still support him, and he will avenge you.”
“No… It’s not that I’m afraid I won’t get revenge!” Professor Marlowe hurriedly explained, “Mr. Lucas, I beg you, please reconsider!”
He did not want to see the man who had saved his life and given him hope to live disappear from this world.
Aidan Lucas walked past Professor Marlowe and sat down on the lounge chair.
“Mr. Marlowe, I have made my decision. As long as it makes Lily happy, I will have no regrets.”
Aidan Lucas closed his eyes, no longer allowing Professor Marlowe any opportunity to dissuade him.
The decision made by him, Aidan Lucas, could not be changed by anyone.
Knowing he couldn’t persuade Aidan Lucas, Professor Marlowe reluctantly sat behind the lounge chair, preparing to begin the hypnosis.
Watching the familiar face of Aidan Lucas, a strange glint quietly flickered in the depths of Professor Marlowe’s eyes.
