Mr. Lucas fiddled with the listening device attached to the already switched-off recording device, his deep and cold eyes flashing with a sharp glint.
“Since it’s transmitted remotely, the area around the Lucas family estate is wide and open. The reception point must be farther away, aning the receiver in Theodore Lucas’s hand likely didn’t capture everything.”
Unintentionally, they had hit upon the truth.
Lily nodded, “In any case, with this recording, we can prove Theodore Lucas was lying. We’ll cut out the part about dual personalities and let the other mbers of the Lucas family hear it. That way, Theodore’s sche will be exposed.”
Looking at the woman’s indignant yet adorable expression, Mr. Lucas’s eyes darkened, and he had the urge to pull her into his arms for a fierce kiss.
Considering that Abbie was glaring at them intently nearby, Mr. Lucas instead reached out and gently rubbed Lily’s hair.
“Based on what I know about him, he’ll definitely claim this recording was forged. With Mom on our side, Theodore will insist this is falsified evidence we coerced her into re-recording.”
Lily thought about it and agreed.
“Then what do we do? Are you telling that even though we’ve uncovered the truth, it’s less effective than the fake evidence he has?!”
Aidan Lucas gave her a reassuring look. “Of course not. If this path doesn’t work, we’ll simply take another one.”
After saying this, Mr. Lucas opened the switch on the listening device right in front of Lily.
Lily was visibly shocked, and even Abbie, sulking nearby, changed his expression.
But Aidan Lucas remained unfazed, curling his lips into a subtle smile and speaking in a deeply hushed, cryptic tone, “You don’t need to worry. This room has already been checked thoroughly by my people—there are no listening devices here. The evidence Theodore Lucas holds isn’t enough to destroy . I’ve already ensured Professor Marlowe is hiding safely; they absolutely won’t find him.”
Lily snapped out of her daze.
Aidan Lucas was deliberately letting Theodore Lucas and his people hear this through the listening device.
Though she didn’t understand why he’d purposely bring up Professor Marlowe, Lily decided to play along.
“Where’s Professor Marlowe hiding? Can his safety be guaranteed? Aidan, maybe it’s better if he stays at the Reddington Hotel—I’ll get Winston to pick him up.”
“…” Mr. Lucas fell silent, but his deep, dark eyes carried a smile as he looked at his wife.
His little one was truly brilliant, exceeding even his expectations in her cooperation.
“That works too. People within the Lucas family are prone to leaking information. Having Winston protect him puts more at ease. My condition is best understood by Professor Marlowe.”
Aidan Lucas hesitated briefly before providing Professor Marlowe’s location to Lily.
Lily instantly, in front of Mr. Lucas, ‘called’ Winston, instructing him to pick up Professor Marlowe tonight.
After finishing everything, the two casually chatted about unrelated topics before Mr. Lucas gestured to the displeased Abbie.
Abbie’s icy, blue gaze flickered faintly with intensity.
He then hopped off the sofa, stomping heavily with exaggerated steps as he hurried over.
Snatching the listening device from his father’s hand, he deliberately yelled, “Charles Taylor, how dare you bully my sister! Watch toss your Transforrs out!”
After saying this, Little Abbie raised his hand and intentionally smashed the listening device to the floor.
Mr. Lucas ruffled the little lad’s hair, bent down to pick up the listening device, and quietly shut it off again.
This way, the eavesdroppers would believe the listening device was broken and ineffective, never realizing that they had discovered it.
One had to admit, Mr. Lucas’s move was truly cunning to the extre.
But what shocked Lily even more was that Little Abbie wasn’t far behind his father in terms of intelligence and wit.
