Theodore Lucas rembered.
He rembered everything.
That night, upon hearing that his son had a fever, he imdiately rushed to the hospital.
Tara Hammond had already spent the whole day with their son and was exhausted. Worried about their daughter at ho, Theodore told Tara to go back to care for Evelyn Lucas.
It was at that mont Nolan Lucas woke up.
The first words out of his mouth were, "Dad, why were Auntie and Uncle rolling around in bed together?"
At the ti, Theodore thought his son had accidentally stumbled across so filthy content online. He didn’t take it seriously and even sternly lectured Nolan.
But thinking back now... those words were Nolan’s way of warning and testing him.
Though still a child too young to understand love between a man and a woman, Nolan already had a faint sense that his mother had wronged his father.
So, he deliberately called his mother "Auntie."
In his heart, he wanted to protect his mother but also didn’t want to wrong his father, which is why he asked in that way.
Theodore Lucas was no fool; in fact, he was incredibly sharp.
Although he had been avoiding reality, that didn’t an he could continue to evade it when it confronted him head-on, leaving no room for denial.
How could the words of a seven-year-old child be considered revenge?
Reflecting now, how could Nolan Lucas, at seven years old, have witnessed such "Auntie and Uncle in bed" scenes unless he had caught Tara Hammond red-handed?
"You... Tara Hammond, you bitch! You’ve been sneaking around with Robbie Bright behind my back!"
Theodore’s voice trembled with fury.
"No, it’s not like that... Theodore, you have to believe . I can explain..."
"Explain? Explain what?! You slut! You’ve deceived for more than twenty years, and you’re still trying to lie to now?!"
Just the thought of himself being played for a fool—losing his family and everything because of this woman—made Theodore want to slap himself out of sheer rage.
The love he once had for Tara was as deep as the hatred he now felt for her.
A chilling glint of malice flashed in Theodore’s bloodshot eyes. He raised his hand and slapped Tara across the face.
"Ah—!" Tara scread as she was sent flying by the impact.
She had been pampered and protected by Theodore for so many years, living a life of privilege. She had never endured such humiliation.
Rolling a few tis on the ground, she lifted her face. Not only was one side swollen, but blood also trickled from the corner of her mouth.
"You bitch! After all these years of spoiling you, now I just want to beat you to death!"
One slap wasn’t enough to vent his anger. Theodore grabbed his cane and raised it, aiming to bring it down on Tara’s back.
"No, stop!"
Suddenly, a figure lunged forward, positioning itself between Theodore and Tara.
"Dad, you can’t hit Mom... Mom is too old to take this..." Evelyn Lucas sobbed uncontrollably.
She wrapped her arms around Tara, her tear-streaked face filled with sorrow and pain as she pleaded with Theodore.
"Evelyn, get out of the way!" Theodore’s emotions were a tangled mix of complexity and pain as he faced Evelyn.
Evelyn was his and Tara’s daughter. He loved this child and didn’t want to direct his anger at her.
Yet, because of what Tara had done, Evelyn’s very birth seed tainted sohow.
Whenever Theodore saw Evelyn, he couldn’t help but rember the cold, harsh truth of being betrayed by the woman he had once loved deeply.
"No, I won’t move. Dad, even if Mom did sothing wrong, there must be a reason behind it. I’m begging you, don’t hit her—listen to her explanation..."
"Evelyn, what your mother has done isn’t sothing that can be excused with an explanation! She betrayed , your father, and our family. At a ti like this, how can you still defend her?!"
