"I have been looking for you everywhere, Dragon Monarch."
"Who are you?" Aditya asked in a cold tone, his expression turning serious in an instant. He also stepped forward a little, shielding his won behind his body.
"I am one of the core mbers of the Organisation."
He was tall, standing at around 1.9 ters (6 feet 3 inches), with a straight and steady posture. His entire body was covered in a long black cloak that reached down to his ankles.
The hood of the cloak covered most of his face, but a sharp chin and pale skin could still be seen. His lips were thin, and there was a faint smile on his face that did not look friendly at all. His eyes were hidden in darkness.
Even his Aura felt very sinister and cold.
’Athena, is he a Necromancer?’ Asked Laura. Everyone was trying to learn as much as possible about this mysterious man.
In his right hand, he held a long, thin blade. The sword was completely black, with no reflection on its surface. The edge of the blade looked uneven, almost like it was made of condensed shadows instead of tal.
’The question since when did he get so close to us?’ Aditya beca alert. He did not know how much of their conversation this man had heard.
Moreover, He wasn’t expecting the organisation mbers to find them so quickly, especially when they went through so much effort of changing their appearance and blending with the crowd.
’That only ans he confird our identities by listening to our conversation.’ Aditya had a feeling that this guy was observing them from the beginning.
’Good job, I ca out of the Purple Fog on my own. Otherwise, who knows this guy might have attacked Rin, Laura, and Athena while I was stuck inside the Purple Fog.’ Just the thought of anything happening to his won filled him with anger. He almost felt like his blood was boiling.
"Aditya, he is a Beginner 7th-order cultivator." As the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena can tell people’s cultivation level even if the other party suppress cultivation and hides it.
"I am surprised you can guess so accurately. Then again, I should not be surprised since you are the Goddess of Wisdom." He then removed the hood covering his face.
"I am Michael Carrick." He had a long vertical scar running across his entire forehead. This scar ruined his appearance and made his face look more intimidating.
"Aren’t you the Elder brother of Duke Ferdinand?" Duke Ferdinand was a nobleman of the Celestial Dragon Empire who earned his position as the 114th Duke of the Empire through his military rits.
The only reason Aditya recognised him was because of the long scar on his forehead and his tall figure.
His brother Ferdinand started as a Viscount and slowly rose in power to beco the Duke around 1,800 years ago. He is one of those minor Dukes who did not inherit the position of a Duke because of his family, but rather earned it through his rits. Right now, Duke Ferdinand was one of the strongest voices opposing the Emperor.
"More like stepbrother." He replied with suppressed hate.
Michael Carrick was the stepbrother of Duke Ferdinand.
Michael Carrick’s mother was a maid who later got pregnant with Carrick. After giving birth, due to abuse from Ferdinand’s mother, she died. Because of this, the relationship between the two brothers always remained strained.
A few hundred years back, things escalated so much to the point that nearly half of a City was destroyed because of their fight. In the end, Carrick beca a wanted criminal, and he had no choice but to flee. And because Ferdinand was the Duke and one of the most respected noblen in the empire, his punishnt was to rebuild the city.
That scar on his forehead was also given to him by his brother during their fight. But he never chose to heal it and let this scar be a reminder of his past failures.
"I guess you joined the Organisation after the fight with your brother." Aditya wanted to know if his guess was correct.
"I searched for a way to find power. And the Organisation was able to give what I wanted. In return, I did not mind working for them."
"I an, why not? The monthly salary is really great. I am almost as rich as my brother. But it’s not about money. After killing you, I will head to his territory and kill him in the sa place where my mother died." His voice was extrely cold and filled with pure hatred towards his brother.
Suddenly, Aditya had another guess. He himself hoped that his guess wasn’t correct.
"If you are a mber of the Organisation, does that an your brother is also a part of it?" If it were true, then this would change a lot of things. Aditya thought that Duke Ferdinand would be a really powerful ally in the civil war, but if he was a mber of the organisation, then he was trusting a snake with his back.
"Don’t make laugh. If he joins, then I am the Organisation’s biggest enemy." Hearing this, Aditya was relieved.
Aditya looked at him with a small smile. "The truth is, the only reason you joined the organisation is that you were always a number two."
Unfortunately for him, his brother Ferdinand was always better than him in every aspect. He was more talented than Carrick in cultivation, fighting, and studying. This is why, despite over 2000 years of living, he could not take his revenge on his brother. His brother always manages to stay a step ahead and gain the upper hand in their battles.
"What did you say?" Aditya’s words hit a sensitive nerve in Carrick.
"Who the fuck are you? A random exiled Prince calling himself the Dragon Monarch for attention." But Aditya does not let his words get to him.
He was already angry at Carrick. Since the second he stepped out of the shadow, his heart was pounding, not in fear, but in anger. Targeting was sothing that he could accept, but plotting against his won was one thing he would never tolerate.
"You three step back. Let take him." But Athena worringly looked at Aditya.
For now, she did not say anything as the enemy would be able to hear her words. She just looked at Rin, and Laura and signalled to them to step back. Stepping back just 100 ters or more wouldn’t work. When cultivators of that power scale fight, each of their attacks could destroy a small town.
"Where is Leo?" If possible, Aditya wanted to know where Leo was hiding and eliminate the root cause of everything.
"Hahahaha!!! Like I would know. And even if I know, why would I tell you?" He sneered.
’Still, I am surprised that an outsider actually knows the Leader’s na. How did he know about his identity?’ Although he wasn’t loyal to the Organisation as so other crazy core mbers were, he still valued the Organisation and wouldn’t let anyone who knew such crucial information about their leader live.
’Maybe after I am done killing my brother, I will need to head to the Six Continent and personally oversee the destruction of the Istarin Empire.’
He then noticed the Sky was rapidly darkening. Dark Clouds with red Crimson lightning covered almost one-fourth of the Dragon Mountain Range.
At the sa ti, a Crimson Lightning armour ford around his entire body.
His body also slightly changed shape. His hands beca Crimson Claws. Beautiful gem-like glowing scales covered his entire body except for his face. The beautiful scales covered up to his chin. The shape and size of his pupil also changed to Crimson Slits. His teeth beca sharper and slightly longer.
Large, beautiful Crimson Dragon wings unfolded from his back.
"I have heard about the Crimson Lightning and the Crimson Fla for a long ti. Today, I will see their strength."
But Aditya did not respond.
’This is the first ti I will be fighting a beginner seventh-order cultivator. I don’t know the exact power cap between a beginner fifth-order and a beginner seventh-order cultivator. But the difference should be like the difference between heaven and earth.’
’I guess I have to go all out from the beginning.’ But regardless of how difficult and powerful the opponent was, backing down wasn’t Aditya’s style.
At the sa ti, he began activating all of his passive skills that would boost his stats.
Just the stats difference between a Beginner 5th-order and a Beginner 7th-order would be enormous. Without any stats boost, Aditya stands no chance against him in this fight.
’Fortunately, I upgraded my artefacts before coming to the Main Continent.’ Aditya had already anticipated that the fights within the Main Continent would be very difficult, so he had co here prepared. But even with preparation, there were limits when facing a cultivator whose base stats, compared to his own, were like the difference between Heaven and Earth.
