Leng Yunyang hasn’t been in the best of moods these past few days.
Ever since the test results ca out, Leng Xuexi had been teasing him nonstop.
It wasn’t exactly embarrassing—Leng Yunyang had thick skin, after all.
But it did remind him of the warning his old man left him before leaving:
"Don’t be overly smug. Always rember that there’s soone in this world smarter than you."
Leng Yunyang has truly co to understand the aning of that sentence.
But being humble? Well, that’s sothing he’s never learned.
He lazily leaned back in his chair, twirling a pen between his fingers, his expression as inscrutable as ever.
Everyone knew Leng Yunyang was likely in a bad mood, and none of them dared provoke him.
Suddenly, Leng Yunyang turned his head and angled a glance at the girl sitting by the window, his lips curling into a playful smirk.
~
Luuo Yunqi had just entered the gates of Lanya High School for the first ti after her acceptance.
She was assigned to the lowest-ranked L Class.
While students outside were practically fighting tooth and nail to get in, this girl nad Luuo Yunqi had instead taken a month’s leave, conveniently missing the monthly exams.
Her classmates in L Class were very curious about her because of this.
Luuo Yunqi was good at socializing, and by midday she had already hit it off with her deskmate, Xiao Ling.
She learned that Xiao Ling was the "class flower" of L Class—though nowhere near as famous as figures like Qin Xiangge or Gao Yuyue, she was still a well-known presence with high popularity in the class.
Co lunchti, the two of them arranged to eat at the cafeteria together.
Since Luuo Yunqi hadn’t had ti to get her al card registered yet, Xiao Ling generously lent her own card to Luuo Yunqi.
Xiao Ling picked up her tray, but suddenly noticed Luuo Yunqi staring into the distance, distracted. She couldn’t help calling out to her.
"What are you looking at?"
So of the students waiting in line behind them started showing subtle signs of impatience.
Luuo Yunqi snapped out of it, quickly shifting her gaze away as her cheeks flushed discreetly red.
Underneath her chest, her heart was pounding wildly.
She absentmindedly followed Xiao Ling, tray in hand.
Even when seated, her thoughts were still floating sowhere far away.
Xiao Ling waved a hand in front of her eyes. "Are you okay? You look like you’ve lost your soul."
Luuo Yunqi suddenly asked, "Did you bet on who would take first place in this month’s exams?"
The ntion of this topic instantly piqued Xiao Ling’s interest.
"My bet was on Shen You’an. Not gonna lie, I was in the sa elentary school class as her, and she’s truly impressive. Even Young Master Leng isn’t on her level."
She trailed off, her gaze scanning the expansive cafeteria.
The cafeteria was too large, and unless you were deliberately searching, it was hard to spot anyone.
Luuo Yunqi smiled slightly. "Managing to hold second place all the ti—God Liu is pretty amazing as well."
"Doesn’t matter. People only rember the first person to land on the moon."
At that point, Xiao Ling suddenly realized sothing, glancing up at Luuo Yunqi.
Luuo Yunqi didn’t dodge the implied question, flashing her a bold and open smile.
Xiao Ling sighed and said, "Good luck to you."
Those who liked Liu Runxi never ended up well.
Luuo Yunqi curved her lips slightly. "I know what you’re thinking, but your worries are unnecessary."
Before Xiao Ling could react, Luuo Yunqi suddenly stood up, tray in hand.
She walked straight to a table tucked in the cafeteria’s corner, smiling as she greeted its occupant. "Long ti no see."
Her tone was perfectly casual and familiar.
The group of girls who had been paying close attention to this corner instantly had their eyes pop out in shock.
Where did this girl co from?
Is she crazy for attention?
Does she really think she can waltz up and claim an association with God Liu?
In that instant, countless piercing gazes darted toward Luuo Yunqi, who remained unbothered as she calmly took a seat across from Liu Runxi.
Liu Runxi’s brows furrowed slightly, and he lifted his gaze to cast a cool glance at the person before him.
His expression was thoroughly indifferent. The mont Luuo Yunqi t his gaze, her heart skipped instinctively, but she quickly composed herself, maintaining a dignified and proper smile as she unnervingly began eating her al.
Xiao Ling, watching this unfold, clicked her tongue in amazent.
Her new deskmate was sothing else entirely.
Liu Runxi got up and picked up his tray, ready to leave.
Luuo Yunqi spoke slowly, "I visited your ho yesterday to see Auntie, but unfortunately, you weren’t there."
Liu Runxi didn’t bother looking her way, walking away without hesitation.
The ssage in his attitude was very clear.
Luuo Yunqi’s expression didn’t show any shift, as she gracefully continued eating her lunch.
"Qiqi." Dai Niantong and Zheng Jinghan sat down across from her, with Dai Niantong unable to hold back her curiosity. "You actually know Liu Runxi?"
She’d known Luuo Yunqi since their elentary school days but had never heard her ntion this before.
Luuo Yunqi smiled lightly. "My dad works under Mayor Liu, so I’ve known God Liu since we were little. I didn’t ntion it before because there was no need."
Dai Niantong and Zheng Jinghan exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with astonishnt.
