"Why did you do that, Demon?" The woman asked, her shoulders tense and her grip on her sword tightened as she stared at intently. She had long golden hair that flowed past her shoulder, blue eyes like a violent sea and unblemished skin. She was wearing a yellow sweater and blue jeans pants, not what I expected to see an Angel wearing. The wariness didn't leave her eyes for a second, and I knew that she was ready to kill at the slightest movent, which she would interpret as an attempt at an attack no doubt, which is why I stayed still.
"Should I have let that thing kill you?" I shot back.
"You're a Demon aren't you? So why would you help an Angel like ?" She asked warily and she also confird my suspicion, she was indeed an Angel.
"So what if I'm a Demon?" I asked, and she furrowed her brows at my words.
"Wait a minute, which family are you from?" She asked with a frown on her face.
"Family?" I asked confused
"Which cardinal sin do you represent? Which of the Demon Kings do you generate?" She asked, her frown becoming deeper by the second. The grip on her sword loosened a bit, and the look in her eyes changed slightly, it transford from a look of confusion and caution to a look of caution and recognition, like she was realizing sothing.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked even more confused than before. Cardinal Sins? I have no idea what those were. Demon Kings? I have never t any, though I guess Demons would have leaders.
"What the….wait a minute are you….stay there for a minute." She said before reaching into her sweater pocket and pulling out a golden-rimd monocle. Looking at the monocle, I got an uneasy feeling and activated [Aura Vision] out of pure instinct, allowing to see the source of my unease, the monocle was surrounded by thick golden energy. Seeing the golden energy, I shifted uncomfortably, I could feel an instinctive distaste for that golden energy and I held back a low growl, which would not have earned any points with this Angel.
"Now hold still and don't move." She said before putting the monocle over one of her eyes. I shivered as I suddenly felt the golden energy cover for a mont, it felt like she was steering into my very soul and my skin felt a bit prickly as the energy surrounded . All in all, it was a terrible experience, but I didn't fight back as I had no idea what this Angel was capable of or how many of them were in the city, making a good first impression was important for the future.
"Oh I see, you're a human who managed to keep your sanity during the demonization process, thus preventing yourself from becoming a thrall, that's quite comndable. Sothing like that requires a lot of willpower." She said as she put the monocle back into her pocket. I held back a sigh of relief as the golden energy left my body, I wasn't gonna make my discomfort evident, that was a sign of weakness I could not show.
"So Colin, what are you doing here?" She asked
"How do you know my na?" I asked, my eyes narrowing at .
"The monocle allows to see your status and I have to say, I'm impressed." She replied in an amused tone
"Is that so, since you know my na, why don't you tell yours." I said, making it sound like less of a request and more of an order.
"No need for any hostility, my na's Synthia." She said, holding her arms up defensively.
"Well Synthia, I'd love to chat but I have sowhere to be right now." I said before I flew in the direction of the rest of my group. Even though I needed information, I couldn't make myself look desperate and I really did need to go back to the others, I couldn't just let them die after all the effort I put in to keep them alive.
"I'll co with you!!" Synthia shouted as she flew after , and I kept my [Aura Vision] active, just in case she tried sothing. And just like that, an Angel and a Demon flew through City B. Once I reached close to where they were, I dropped down from the sky and deactivated my [Demon Transformation] skill, turning back into my human form. Synthia landed beside and I saw her body get covered in a golden light and when it disappeared, her wings were gone. We then walked towards where the others were.
"Colin where the hell did you…." Claire said when she saw but stopped when she saw Synthia walking behind. The entire group seed to notice Synthia and seed to be stunned for a mont.
"Hi." Claire said awkwardly
"So this is why you were in such a hurry. To think a Demon would be traveling with a bunch of humans." Synthia said in a teasing voice and I shot her an annoyed look and she just started laughing.
"Wait a minute what did she…" Tim started to say but I cut him off.
"Nothing she's a bit delusional. Did anything happen while I was gone?" I said and this ti it was her who gave an annoyed look. I guess she didn't like being called delusional.
"No nothing, we didn't even see a single zombie in the area. Which is kind of weird." Tim replied
"Oh that's because I killed all of them in this area." Synthia said and everyone looked at her in shock.
"You killed all the zombies in the area?" Kirt asked skeptically
"Yep." Synthia replied with a smirk on her face.
"Hey, Synthia you've been in this city for a while right?" I asked
"Yeah, why?" She asked
"Then do you know where 'Sanctuary' is?" I asked
"Oh so that's why you're here. I can show you the way just follow ." She replied and then her body was covered by golden light.
When the light cleared she had wings on her back and she flew into the sky. Why did she bother transforming in the first place if she was just gonna transform back?
"This way." She said and slowly started flying in another direction. And the others just stood there staring at her in awe.
"She's an Angel." I heard soone mutter with a hint of reverence in their voice.
