BACK TO HAN'S SIDE
The battle between Thunderwrath and the Wolfbull Lord officially began.
Yet neither of them attacked.
They stood there, grounded, coiled, ready to explode.
The Wolfbull Lord stared at the human with silver horns before him, a flicker of apprehension buried deep in his eyes. Yes, he believed he would still win. But he also knew it would not be easy. Not after all this.
Even if the dragon had reverted from dragon to human, he was still a dragon. Deep down.
And that grin.
That damn grin.
It was carved across Thunderwrath's face as if the Wolfbull Lord were nothing more than a al waiting to be devoured.
"Are you ready yet?" Thunderwrath asked cheerfully.
Another second passed.
"Any more minutes and I won't be able to stop myself from pouncing on you."
He was still smiling.
The Wolfbull Lord growled. This damn dragon was looking down on him. Treating him with negligence. Mocking him with that creepy grin.
That would change.
It would surely change when the dragon witnessed his insane speed and overwhelming strength.
The Wolfbull Lord smiled, excitent bubbling in his chest. He was about to take down a real dragon. A dragon in human flesh.
This would make his na echo across monster races. It would cent the Wolfbull race among the top tiers.
He looked back at Thunderwrath, his grin twisting into sothing demonic.
"Alright. Let's take down a dragon. A human dragon."
He launched.
Explosive force shattered the ashen ground beneath him as he shot forward at a terrifying speed. The air scread. The earth cracked.
This was no surprise.
He was the Portal King. The ruler of this entire plane.
His strength surpassed the bull wolves. His speed eclipsed the dark wolves.
He was the strongest and fastest being in the entire plane.
At least, that was what he believed.
From his throne, Han shook his head.
Fool.
Trying to catch Thunderwrath off guard in a battle of speed was stupidity at its finest.
Just as the Wolfbull Lord closed in, Thunderwrath's grin shifted. Amusent flickered in his eyes as silver lightning erupted around his body.
Then he vanished.
The Wolfbull Lord's punch smashed into empty ground, obliterating it completely and ripping chunks of earth into the air.
Gone.
He is fast. Really fast.
The realization hit, but it was already too late.
Thunderwrath reappeared.
Lightning sword flashed.
The Wolfbull Lord could not dodge. It ca too fast. Instant evasion was impossible.
He raised both hands to block. They hardened instantly. If he could block it, he would counter. Break the dragon's horn. Cripple him.
But the mont the sword struck, it bypassed his guard completely.
It bit deep.
Lightning exploded from his hands, then surged through his entire body. His muscles locked. His vision blurred. Shock twisted his face.
"You are damn slow."
Thunderwrath's voice reached his ears a second later.
He moved again.
A kick slamd into the Wolfbull Lord's head. He tried to dodge.
Too slow.
The impact sent his head snapping sideways as another wave of lightning ravaged his body.
"What the hell?" he cursed.
Thunderwrath landed calmly, standing before him. His smile dimd slightly.
"If you're holding back, then stop."
His voice carried irritation.
"Holding back makes battles boring. A fight won too easily isn't a battle. It's a thrashing."
He stared at the Wolfbull Lord, eyes sharp, impatient.
"I don't want to thrash you. I want a fight."
"Get serious."
The Wolfbull Lord glared at the annoying human dragon as the remaining lightning coursed through his body, slowly dying out.
He inhaled deeply.
Essence surged.
Power flooded his veins, revitalizing his battered body, burning away the lingering shock. Strength returned. Control returned.
He was back at full power.
His expression hardened.
"I shouldn't have underestimated him."
After all—
He was a dragon.
This first exchange only cented his expectations.
Taking down a dragon would be hard. Almost impossible.
But impossible did not an unattainable.
The dragon before him would fall. After all, he had not been fighting at full force yet.
A grin spread across the Wolfbull Lord's face.
He bent slightly and closed his eyes, concentrating as he pushed more essence through his body. Power surged. Muscles scread. Bones adjusted.
His full transformation activated.
His dark fur deepened, growing thicker and denser, shimring like glistening dark jade. The horns on his forehead lengthened, becoming sharper, more lethal, their tips honed to pierce anything foolish enough to stand in his way. His hooves grew more robust, bulging with raw strength as his massive fra expanded.
He threw his head back and howled.
"Awhooooo!"
Thunderwrath stood unmoved.
Unflinching.
His smile returned.
He got stronger, Thunderwrath thought. Good.
To keep things from becoming boring, he dismissed his twin lightning swords. Silver arcs reshaped, crawling up his arms and hardening into lightning gauntlets.
"Alright," he said calmly. "Round two."
They launched at the sa ti.
This ti, the change was obvious.
As the Wolfbull Lord moved, the ground shattered into fragnts beneath his feet. The air warped, rippling with heat that bled from his dark, shimring fur.
He closed the distance and swiped for Thunderwrath's head.
Empty air.
Gone again.
The Wolfbull Lord reacted instantly, spinning around.
Thunderwrath was already there.
Lightning engulfed his hands, forming brutal gauntlets as he struck out, imitating the tiger punch technique he had not fully mastered yet.
Even unmastered, it was devastating.
If it landed, the Wolfbull Lord would be plunged into a world of pain.
The Wolfbull Lord realized this too.
He opened his mouth and howled again, but this ti dark red flas churned deep within his throat. They built rapidly, compressing, raging.
Then he released them.
A torrential blast of dark crimson fire erupted, swallowing Thunderwrath whole.
"Oh?"
Han raised an eyebrow from his throne.
So the Wolfbull Lord could wield flas.
Interesting.
The dark wolves beneath him had high resistance to fire, but it seed their lord did more than resist it. He controlled it.
Still, it did not matter.
Han did not know the full limits of the Wolfbull Lord's power. Rank alone never told the full story. Too many factors could affect how much power one could truly unleash into the world.
But there was one thing he was absolutely certain of.
No matter how high or low the Wolfbull Lord's output was, it would not change the ending.
Thunderwrath was the strongest of the three spirits.
Even a stage higher than Ifrit.
If Ifrit advanced, he might stand on the sa level, but right now, Thunderwrath stood alone at the top.
Strength. Speed. Combat instinct.
And above all else, the simple truth.
Thunderwrath was the greatest lightning user Han had ever known.
There were only a handful who could fight him evenly.
Even fewer who could defeat him.
So no matter what the Wolfbull Lord believed.
No matter what he unleashed.
This battle would end the sa way.
He would lose.
To be continued…
