"Alright, everyone’s here. Let’s head up the mountain," Kyle Kinston said, then glanced down at Mabel Quinn standing beside him. "If you feel tired later or if anything feels off, just let know. I’ll carry you up. Your weight is nothing to ."
Mabel Quinn replied, "I’m fine. Those scrapes have almost healed, and besides, this mountain isn’t very high."
But Kyle kept looking straight at her because he knew she was never the type to admit she was in pain or tired. She would rather endure it herself than trouble anyone else.
Mabel blushed under Kyle’s gaze and took a while before she finally nodded with a soft "Hmm."
Watching this handso man and beautiful woman gaze at each other, Alice Conley wished there was a cara around to capture it all. "Kyle is just so considerate," she said.
Dorian Howards forcefully turned her head away, making her face him.
"Why are you staring at soone else so intently? You might as well look at . If you really can’t walk later, I’m the only one who can carry you up the mountain," Dorian said with a hint of jealousy.
Alice rolled her eyes. "Thanks, but my endurance isn’t that bad." Besides, she wasn’t a sack of rice to be carried around like that. It sounds so awkward.
Kyle’s words were so much more pleasant. To be carried on soone’s back—it sounds like sothing out of a drama.
The four of them started hiking up the mountain. Because Mabel Quinn still had so injuries, they deliberately slowed their pace to more of a leisurely walk along the mountain trail.
The fresh forest air invigorated Mabel quite a bit.
Suddenly, Alice yelped, almost falling over. If Dorian hadn’t pulled her back in ti, she might have face-planted into the ground.
Mabel quickly stepped forward. "Alice, what happened?"
"It’s nothing, nothing, I just twisted my ankle a bit," Alice hurried to say. "I twist my ankles easily—it’s no big deal. I’ll be bouncing around again in no ti."
But her explanation only made Dorian’s face look even grumpier.
Dorian promptly took off Alice’s right shoe, causing her to scream out.
"If you keep yelling, believe it or not, I’ll take off both your shoes," Dorian said grumpily.
Alice could only close her mouth for the mont, but when Dorian started massaging her twisted ankle, she inhaled sharply, complaining, "It hurts! Stop pressing, stop pressing! It was fine; now you’re just making it worse!"
Honestly, this girl was infuriatingly impossible to help—only Alice could put Dorian in such a helpless state.
After a mont of massaging, Dorian said, "There’s no bone damage; it should be alright."
"I told you it was fine," Alice muttered, trying to grab her shoe back. But another hand beat her to it, putting it back on her foot and tying the laces for her.
Even with Alice’s thick skin, she blushed slightly under her friends’ and Kyle’s gaze. She quickly stood up to demonstrate she could walk. But before she even took a step, Dorian hoisted her over his shoulder as if she were a sack of sand.
"I’ll take her to the temple first. You guys take your ti," Dorian said.
