Soren, standing next to his girlfriend, frowned and said unhappily to Mabel Quinn, "Lyra Grant is just worried about Katie out of kindness, why do you have to be so aggressive?"
"It’s really funny, it turns out the aggressive one isn’t the person who, without saying a word to begin with, pointed at and said I’m a liar, here to scam money and benefits." Mabel had no expectation that Soren would ever speak a fair word for her—he hadn’t in the past, and he certainly wouldn’t now.
The so-called childhood sweetheart bond was just her own imagination.
Soren was stunned.
Just then, Mabel Quinn’s phone suddenly rang, and seeing it was a call from Kyle Kinston, she answered it, not caring about the current situation.
"Where are you?" Kyle Kinston’s question was direct and to the point.
Mabel was startled, then quickly responded, realizing she should have been back at Kinston Manor by now, "I’m having dinner with so high school friends, we’re at the ’Tasty’ steakhouse near the Corporation..."
While Mabel Quinn was on the phone with Kyle Kinston, the restaurant manager noticed the commotion and ca over. Upon seeing Lyra Grant, the manager hurriedly greeted her with a big smile, "Miss Grant, you’re here."
"I initially wanted to have a steak here, but now I’m not in the mood," Lyra Grant said, glancing at Mabel Quinn with a hint of implication.
The manager, having so discernnt to have reached this position, imdiately understood that Miss Grant probably had a conflict with soone.
Lyra Grant had dined here several tis before, and the manager knew her father was a high-ranking executive in a big company, so he wanted to please Lyra Grant and said to Mabel Quinn and Katie, "Ladies, please dine elsewhere. Our establishnt cannot serve you both."
"But we’ve already placed our order," Katie said.
"Regardless of your order, please leave. I will have the kitchen cancel your order," the manager responded.
"Are you refusing us service?" Mabel asked, "The consur rights law doesn’t say you can refuse custors like this."
The manager sneered, "Don’t talk to about consur rights law. If you want to file a complaint, feel free. You are already disturbing other guests, and as the restaurant manager, I have the right to ask you to leave."
On one hand is the daughter of a corporate executive; on the other, the manager had already noticed Mabel Quinn and Katie’s attire, which lacked any brand nas. Naturally, he didn’t care if he offended them.
Katie’s face was full of embarrassnt, while Lyra Grant had a slight, smug smile, especially when the surrounding guests started looking over—it made her feel even more satisfied.
She wanted Mabel Quinn to be thrown out publicly, to flee like a drowned rat, only then would she feel relieved.
Mabel Quinn looked at Katie’s embarrassed deanor and decided not to argue anymore, so she said to Katie, "Let’s find another place to eat, there’s no need to stay here."
"Mabel, I’m sorry, I..."
"It’s okay," Mabel Quinn smiled.
Just as Mabel was about to pick up her bag and leave with Katie, Soren suddenly said, "Let’s just drop this, there’s no need for everyone to be embarrassed."
