"How did you co here?" she asked, puzzled.

"It’s not hard to find out where you’re staying now," he replied, indicating the Harris Family’s capabilities. In this city of J, if the Harris Family wanted to find soone, it would be a piece of cake.

Mabel Quinn bit her lip slightly, "Is there sothing you need?"

"How have you been these days, are you all right?" he asked.

"I’m fine, thank you," she replied with a faint politeness, which also felt distant.

Daniel Harris felt a hard-to-describe feeling in his heart, "I’m sorry, that day... if I hadn’t taken you back to the Harris Estate, maybe you wouldn’t have broken up with Kyle. How about I go to him and explain?"

She looked up at him in surprise.

Daniel Harris gave a bitter smile, "What, do you think I’m not the kind of person who would do this? I love you, but I don’t want to take advantage of you with underhanded ans. If I want to be with you, I hope it’s in an upright way. I also hope that when you are with , it’s without regrets."

He had seen and used many strategies; to beco the Commander of the Harris Family from a blind boy in a rural area required experiencing countless dangers and using innurable cunning tactics, no doubt. He could be ruthless to others, but to her, he couldn’t bring himself to do so.

Because she was all that was beautiful in his heart, a woman once willing to give him sight with her own eyes. He was unwilling to desecrate her with any darkness.

Therefore, even if he knew that going to explain to Kyle Kinston might lose him the chance to win her back, he still wanted to do it.

Mabel Quinn shook her head, "No need, I’ve already explained what needed to be explained. Kyle and I have officially broken up, so you don’t need to explain it again."

"Then..."

"Alright, the place is small, so I won’t invite you in," Mabel Quinn said to Daniel Harris and then walked toward the hallway.

"Mabel, it’s too dangerous for a girl like you to live in a place like this, why don’t I find you sowhere else to live?" Daniel Harris suggested.

"No need, with my current inco, this is all I can afford, but at least I’m independent. Thank you for your kindness," she said, then walked to her apartnt door, unlocked it, and went inside.

As she closed the door, she saw Daniel Harris still standing there, his eyes fixed on her all along.

Bam!

The door shut, and Mabel Quinn leaned against it, exhaling a long breath. She didn’t bla Daniel Harris for her breakup with Kyle Kinston, only blad fate, only blad their love for not being strong enough. But she also understood Daniel Harris’s feelings for her; if she couldn’t reciprocate, she shouldn’t give any hope.

On the first day back at work, colleagues were chatting lively; while Mabel Quinn forced herself to smile, Alice Conley was aware of the reason but didn’t say anything. Who would have guessed that not long after everyone sat in front of their computers, a colleague suddenly exclaid, "Mabel, did you break up with Mr. Kinston?"

Alice Conley was startled, asking faster than Mabel Quinn, "What’s going on?"

"There’s news online saying it, that Mabel and Mr. Kinston seem to have broken up, the Kinston Family has stopped planning the wedding, and it also says that Mabel seems to have moved out from Mr. Kinston’s place," the colleague replied.
