And in the days that followed, just as Mabel Quinn expected, Indigo Quigley kept picking on her at work, causing the atmosphere in the office to be tense for a ti, which gave the studio manager, Brother Guan, quite a headache.

However, Mabel responded to each provocation calmly, and with Alice Conley as her ally, Indigo rarely gained the upper hand and often ended up embarrassing herself.

Then Alice, fully leveraging her talent for gathering gossip, one day told Mabel, "I finally know why Indigo keeps targeting you."

"Oh? Why?" Mabel asked.

"She’s got a crush on Kyle Kinston. Apparently, she used to run over to the Kinston Group, trying to et him. But she was totally ignored, and she kept finding reasons to go there, hoping for a ’chance encounter’ or sothing. Once, she snuck into the Kinston Group’s cafeteria to see Kyle and even tried confessing her feelings, but ended up being thrown out by Kyle’s bodyguard. After that, she wasn’t allowed in anymore," Alice explained.

Mabel was surprised, "Where did you hear all this?"

"Don’t you know how advanced the internet is now? You can find traces of these things with so searching online. Plus, back in high school, I had a classmate who now works at the Kinston Group. I asked her if these stories were true, and she told all about it, laughing like it was a joke," Alice said. "No wonder when she ca to the studio, her attitude towards you was so bad, like she’s taking out her frustrations on you for not getting what she wanted."

Mabel gave a faint smile, lowering her eyes. Despite trying hard to forget Kyle these days, it seed her life was still affected and overshadowed by him.

Suddenly, Mabel’s phone rang. She picked it up, and her expression changed drastically, almost dropping the phone.

After she finished the call, Alice anxiously asked, "Mabel, what’s wrong?"

It took Mabel a while to regain her composure, and with a slight nasal sound, she choked out, "My Granny Taylor... passed away."

It was the butler of the Quinn Family who called her, saying that after lunch, Granny Taylor passed away during her nap... Granny had been in poor health recently, and the doctor had ntioned that she could go at any ti. Even though Mabel was ntally prepared, she still felt as if struck by lightning upon hearing the news, as if her mind was roaring at that mont.

Granny Taylor... passed away? The old lady who gently smiled at her, gave her snacks, and sotis looked at her with an understanding gaze, had just left this world.

Mabel requested leave and quickly headed to the Quinn Family’s main house. Even though she had no blood relation to the Quinn Family, even though she wasn’t part of the family, she wanted to see Granny Taylor, to bid farewell to this elder.

Because she knew, Granny Taylor genuinely cared for her.

By the ti Mabel arrived at the Quinn Family’s house, the place was draped in black and white fabric, and cries could be heard upon stepping inside. At the morial hall, she saw Granny Taylor’s portrait prominently placed at the center of the altar. That elder, with her hair up and a gentle smile, despite all the hardships and age, maintained her dignity and grace.
