He suddenly leaned in towards her and said, "You’re so concerned about other people’s marriages, when are you going to care about ours?"
She was taken aback.
But he said seriously, "We had already prepared almost everything for the wedding, hadn’t we? So have you thought about our marriage?"
Mabel Quinn bit her lip slightly and said, marriage? Once, they were just a step away from getting married, and now, they had only recently gotten back together. If they were to get married now, it seed a bit too rushed.
He gently pulled her into his arms, "I know you still need ti to adjust. After all, I was the one who so easily said we should break up back then. It was all my fault. I will wait for you, wait until the day you are willing to marry . Whenever you want to marry , just let know."
Mabel leaned her head against Kyle Kinston’s chest, listening to his heartbeat, each beat making her feel at ease, yet also bringing pain to her heart.
"Okay. When that day cos, I’ll tell you." She agreed softly, looking up at him, "Kyle, from now on, let’s promise to speak out any doubts and insecurities between us, okay?" After all, she did not want to go through such an experience again.
His dark eyes t hers, and he murmured, "It won’t be like that again, because I know that to you, I am the most important person, right?"
"Right." She smiled, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his lips.
"And you are also the most important person to , Mabel." He whispered, and the air was filled with sweetness.
The next day, when Alice Conley was at work, Mabel Quinn hurriedly asked, "What was that about a wedding yesterday? Are you really getting married?"
Alice Conley’s expression was a bit complicated, "When he first ntioned it, I thought he was just being impulsive, but he said he was serious, and that I should think about it carefully."
"So what did you decide?" Mabel Quinn asked.
Alice Conley gave a wry smile, "If I said I haven’t made up my mind yet, would you think I’m being too sentintal?"
Mabel Quinn said, "You must have your reasons."
"How should I put it? Maybe it’s because the family pressure between him and would be too great. My parents, and his parents. My family might be sowhat easier to deal with, but his family... if it ca down to him having to choose between the Howards Family and , then..." That’s sothing she didn’t want to see.
What she didn’t say was about Dorian Howards’ mother’s side of things; if she claid there was no resentnt, that would be a lie. If his mother hadn’t done what she did back then, maybe their first child would have already been born.
Thinking about her and Dorian’s child always brought a pang to her heart.
"Mabel, when I was first pregnant, all I could think about was telling Dorian and marrying him, without considering other things. But maybe, as ti has passed and I’ve cald down, I’ve started to think more, and thinking more leads to more hesitation," Alice Conley confessed her current concerns.
Mabel Quinn, although she didn’t face the issue of family opposition between her and Kyle Kinston, could still empathize with Alice’s feelings at this mont.
