Alice Conley knew very well that if Dorian Howards acted, Indigo Quigley’s fate would be miserable, but she had no intention of sympathizing with Indigo. At the thought of nearly losing the child in her belly again, she felt an indescribable hatred towards Indigo Quigley.
But... she only harbored so resentnt towards Indigo Quigley, so what about Dorian Howards’ mother? Another forr "culprit," what could she do about her?
Should she tell Dorian that his mother once hard their child? If she really said that, it would only cause Dorian to suffer as well.
Alice Conley took a deep breath and asked, "Dorian Howards, do you truly want to marry ?"
His face tensed, then he replied with certainty, "Yes!" Just one word, but it was enough to show his determination.
"Then..." she hesitated for a mont, "No matter what happens in the future, will you stand by and our child?"
"Yes." His answer was the sa.
"Even if it ans breaking with the Howards Family, with your parents, will you still insist on marrying , staying with ?" Her eyes fixed on him, not wanting to miss a single expression on his face.
"Yes." Still the sa answer.
The three "yeses" finally brought tears to Alice Conley’s eyes. When Indigo Quigley pushed her down the stairs, the face that surfaced in her mind was his; it was all their mories together.
At that mont, she even wondered if in the next life... she could et him again? If she could et him in the next life, then by all ans, she would marry him. She wanted to be his bride, wanted to stay with him for life.
When she opened her eyes in the hospital, she was suddenly so grateful, grateful for this life, grateful that she and the child were still alive.
The next life is too uncertain, so let it be this life! In this life... she and he would be together for life.
"Very well, Dorian Howards, I will marry you," Alice Conley said earnestly, making a decision for both him and herself. She wanted to hold onto this life tightly, no matter what difficulties might arise between them in the future, she would be with him.
Dorian Howards was full of shock, barely daring to believe what he had heard. "You... what did you say?" His voice was even hoarser, even off-key, and his eyes stared at her intently, fearing that everything before him was just an illusion and she would disappear from his sight in the next mont.
Alice Conley smiled, thinking how much this man loved her, and how lucky she was to be loved wholeheartedly by such a man.
"I said, I will marry you, I want to marry you, Dorian Howards," she said.
His body trembled violently, then beca almost rigid as he slowly leaned down. His face was close to hers, his breath a bit rapid, and his hands cupped her face, fingers gently gliding over her eyes, "Alice, say it again, say it again, okay?"
He was afraid, afraid he had heard wrong, afraid he misunderstood her words, afraid it was all just sothing he wanted too much.
His appearance made her heart ache, and after a long while, she said, "Okay, no matter how many tis I say it, Dorian Howards, I want to marry you, I want to spend my life with you, I want to see you every day, and I want to give you many children."
