"Speaking of which, why did you suddenly co to the Oath City, Opus? You haven’t been here for many years."
In the Undying Club, Serey rarely erged from behind the bar, sitting on a table, munching on fries while asking the person beside him.
"A proclamation from the Decision Room. When Bologue and the others discovered the King’s Shield Guard hoarding the Scourge Epidemic, they urgently summoned . As you know, due to the overwhelming power of the Seekers of Glory, crossing the rift poses great risks, so I sped the entire way, flying for several days straight to get here."
Fuen picked up a nearly worn-out paper cup, downed his drink in one go, "It’s just like... just like during the Dawn War, when those wise ones dispersed the dark clouds, leaving the Night Race to perish under the sun en masse.
The power of the Clarks might not hold the upper hand in head-on duels, but in terms of altering the battlefield environnt and manipulating the weather, we’ve got it covered."
Serey listened to Fuen’s words, nodding in agreent, grateful that this bastard had tossed all the fog into the sky. Recently, it might have been the best weather since the establishnt of Oubos, Oath City, for decades.
The sky used to be overcast, devoid of any light, allowing Serey to stroll out the door boldly without having to worry too much about the blazing sun. But now, just standing at the doorway, he could sll the scorching breath of sunlight.
Fortunately, this clear sky was only temporary. As the city recovered from disaster, the dormant factories restarted operations, and the extinguished furnaces reignited, the pervasive dark clouds would once again shroud the city.
"Is the Destruction of Paths completely annihilated?" Serey asked again.
When Xilin left, he commanded the rocky cliffs like a madman, completely shoving the already crumbling Paths to ruin. Now, when entering the Great Rift, those once sprawling, tumor-like weird structures were gone, as if they never existed.
"I’m not sure," Fuen shook his head, "but I know that as long as there are Devils in this world, there will be Demons, there will be outlaws... When people like this gather in one place, that place can be considered as the Paths."
"Just addressing the symptoms, not the root cause, huh?" Serey laughed.
Footsteps approached, and the skeletal fra of Bode erged from the darkness, Wei’Er at his feet.
"Long ti no see, Fuen."
Bode cheerfully shouted to Fuen, waving before jumping into a big hug that lifted Fuen off the ground.
"Easy, easy!"
Fuen cried out in pain, Bode’s skeletal fra poking his chest painfully.
Wei’Er jumped onto the table, her fluffy tail gently brushing against Fuen’s palm. Fuen was stunned for a few seconds before speaking, "Wei’Er?"
Fuen smiled and reached out to pet Wei’Er’s head, "Why have you turned into a black cat? I rember when I left, you were still a fluffy orange cat."
Wei’Er replied, licking her paw, "A cat’s lifespan is far shorter than a human’s. Not long after you left, I changed to a new body."
"Honestly, Fuen, when I first t Palr, I never thought he would be your son," Bode said, sitting down next to Fuen to catch up.
"Why? Doesn’t he look like ?" Fuen said, touching his chin, which he thought was quite handso.
Bode said, "No, it’s just hard to imagine soone like you having children... I once thought you were sterile."
"Ah?"
"Indeed, so people leave such a deep, unique impression on us that it’s hard to imagine them getting married and having kids," Wei’Er added, "But there are exceptions, just as extres et, Serey is a good counter-example."
"Alright, let’s stop right here, everyone, we’re here to catch up, not to hold a trial, okay?" Serey surrendered repeatedly.
Fuen turned around, looking to the other side of the bar, where tables and chairs had been cleared out, a screen covering an entire wall. Bologue and Palr were hunching over, adjusting equipnt, busy with so unknown task.
"What are they doing?"
Fuen asked, noticing that since his arrival, these two had been busy with sothing unknown.
"There’s an event tonight, do you want to join?" Wei’Er asked.
"What kind of event?" Fuen realized that since he left, the Undying Club had changed a lot.
"A film marathon."
Serey added, "It’s about watching several movies all at once."
"Sounds interesting, how do I participate?"
"Just stay here, when the ti cos, it’ll start playing," Serey said.
The doorbell rang, and the first guests arrived. Aimou entered with Belli and Balder. Even coming here, Balder wouldn’t take off his bulky protective clothing.
"How’s work?" Serey greeted.
"It’s okay," Aimou looked exhausted, "we just debugged a solvent that can wash away the residual Scourge Epidemic. Next, it’s the Logistics Departnt’s job. They’ll spray it across the city to prevent the Scourge Epidemic from piling up and consu it completely."
While the Logistics Departnt was busy, the Sublimation Furnace Core was also working overti. The high-intensity Ether storms stirred up by the Seekers of Glory lingered in the city. To prevent a second disaster, the task of removing all supernatural threats was entrusted to the Sublimation Furnace Core.
Serey and Bode headed to the kitchen, beginning to prepare so food, like pizza and fries. Everyone had almost forgotten that the Undying Club also provided food.
