Thinking of this, Bologue looked at Hart and Palr. Hart could still control himself, but Palr already appeared to be having a lot of fun.
What could be better than getting to play a character in the story yourself?
Palr was completely imrsed in the story and had beco part of it. If not for the dice, which made him feel a bit out of character, Palr would truly believe he was in the story of "Night Hunter".
Bologue curiously asked Ewen, "How do you feel now?"
"What do you an?"
"All we’ve been through, this is happening in the story you wrote, and now it’s breaking into reality."
Bologue organized his thoughts and concluded, "What you imagined is now becoming reality."
"Becoming reality..."
Ewen glanced at the corpses and bones scattered all around, as well as the injured people. Ewen shook his head and said, "If I had known, I would have written the story more gently."
With that, Ewen laughed to himself, and Bologue was amused by him, not expecting Ewen to have such thoughts.
Blood filled the vessel; it was ti for the next round of dice rolls. Everyone returned to their seats and rolled the dice in turn.
The dice rolling started with Bologue and ended with Ewen. As the others rolled the dice, Ewen kept his eyes fixed on the great boardga; the Dawn had only traveled halfway across the wilderness, and a long journey still awaited them. It was far from over.
"I know."
The girl’s voice suddenly broke the silence, and turning around, Cinderella moved her chair closer to Ewen. Her voice was so soft that it seed only Ewen could hear her.
Cinderella examined Ewen’s face, "I know you’re lying. You’re not in it for immortality."
She had guessed it.
Ewen calmly replied, "I shouldn’t have told you so much."
Cinderella had guessed his secret; Ewen wasn’t surprised. She was a clever and vigilant girl, very smart. If she hadn’t guessed it, Ewen would have found it odd.
"Well, at the ti, you thought you were going to die and feared the story would be forgotten, so you told ," Cinderella smiled. She always seed to have that smile, "But we survived."
"Rest assured, I won’t tell them."
Cinderella assured Ewen, "After all, this story, this wish, is a bit too strange."
Ewen said nothing as the dice were passed to Cinderella. She threw the dice, followed by Ewen, adding up the values as the Dawn continued to move forward on the board, while Bai Ou picked up the deck, drawing the event cards for this round one by one.
Bologue drew the Event Card·Calm Ti, encountering no unexpected events, subsequently Palr and Hart both drew equipnt cards, cycling their equipnt for a new round.
Palr was a bit disappointed with the updated equipnt; he thought he would draw the protagonist’s equipnt from "Night Hunter." As a seasoned player, Palr was well aware of the terrifying values of the protagonists’ equipnt.
The anomaly ca from Aimou; she drew an event card she had never seen before. Bai Ou took the card and began narrating the upcoming event.
"Event Card·Crossroads."
Bai Ou declared, "The Dawn encountered a person seeking help during its journey."
As the host retold the narrative, the events described were simultaneously brought to life, with calls for help emanating from the event card.
"If you slow down and rescue, you will welco an unexpected guest, but at the sa ti, the pursuing demons will catch up with you. If you ignore the plea, nothing will happen."
"An unexpected guest..."
Bologue hesitated for a mont, for now, they were the Hunters in the story, not the Condensers who wield Extraordinary Power. Any mistake in their choices could doom the entire team.
"It’s up to you to decide."
The others gave Bologue affirming looks; everyone saw Bologue as the backbone, including the newcor, Canary.
Bologue took a deep breath; every decision carried a heavy sense of mission.
"We choose the unexpected guest."
As soon as he spoke, the high-speed Dawn began to decelerate, and the surroundings shook violently. Palr opened the car door, and gales rushed in. He fired a flare, illuminating half the dark land. Shadows stretched and twisted grotesquely as countless demons ca charging after them.
The demons that had previously been left far behind by the Dawn now rapidly closed the distance due to the reduced speed. Several demons already clambered onto the rear of the vehicle, their sharp claws piercing the steel as they crawled forward against the wind.
At this mont, Bai Ou returned the Event Card·Crossroads. The picture on the card depicted a crossroads. Now, with Bologue’s choice, the scene animated, and another road entrance expanded, revealing a familiar face from behind the layers of darkness.
His eyes were shut tightly, but in the next second, he suddenly opened them, with a vast pain acting upon him. Even though he tried hard to suppress it, repressed hisses of anguish escaped his mouth.
Bologue picked up the card, gazing at the vivid and familiar face depicted on it, as though soone had sealed him into the two-dinsional paper, allowing him to communicate with the outside world only through the narrow picture.
He saw Bologue, and Bologue saw him; the two locked eyes, and then Bologue read out his na.
