Chapter 3049: Near Death
Han ngli thought he was safe an hour later, but the truth was far from it. The mont he was halfway up the mine, one of the demons that had been after him noticed him, and a fight broke out between them.
Han ngli had a much more difficult ti with this fight, quickly realizing that the demon was far stronger than he could hope to beat. At around the Saint Foundation realm, the demon was just strong enough that none of Han ngli’s hits did much to him.
If the darkness aura he used in his dagger could find its mark, then maybe he would have a chance at victory, but the man could likely just destroy any aura that landed on him.
So, Han ngli’s fight devolved into a ss of trying to defend himself with a shield he found from the demons he had killed and trying to get out of the damn mine.
As he reached closer to the entrance of the mine—which was thankfully devoid of any demons—he quickly looked down at the situation at the camps.
The other camp had people spilling out slowly, but not much was happening just yet. Han ngli’s eyes naturally turned toward his camp, where the battle had reached a standstill.
There were thousands of demons now, surrounding the hundreds of humans. Corpses scattered the field on both sides, with just as many demons dead as there were humans.
Naless stood bloody in the midst of the battle, his shoulder bleeding profusely, a side of his face blown off from an attack. There was nothing for him to recover with, so he just had to keep fighting.
If there had been more ti, they probably could’ve determined how strong the demons were, but since the battle had started so abruptly, they could only continue.
Han ngli looked at the person Naless fought in the sky and was surprised to notice that it was a female. She was an Immortal without a doubt, but there should’ve already been one that was fighting Naless.
Han ngli couldn’t see him at all.
Had Naless killed the man? Had he killed an Immortal while he himself was only a Saint?
Han ngli approached the group from the side, hoping to use so of the pastes he had with him from the two demons he had killed in the mine just now and use it on Naless.
But before he could get there, he felt an attack coming from behind at the last mont and jumped to the side.
The demon that had been following him had caught up to him.
Han ngli imdiately began fighting back, but it was clear he wasn’t going to win. Even if he ran from here, there were other demons that hadn’t joined the battle yet that would co for him.
It was only then that he realized there was no way for him to have ever won here. He should not have ever even thought of it.
And at the sa ti, the re thought of cowardice that grew in his body made him want to vomit. Even if death was all that awaited him at the end of this fight, he wanted to fight.
If he could take just one more demon with him to the grave, he would be happy. That wouldn’t be revenge for his friends and family, but it would be a start. He could at least die knowing that he tried.
He completely lost himself in the fight with the demon, taking on damage upon damage from the stronger opponent. Wounds appeared all over his body, slowly piling up. He was getting closer and closer to death’s door.
But he kept fighting. He just wanted to kill this one demon.
The demon suddenly raised his weapon, striking at him with a powerful technique. A crescent moon flew at him, like the swing of a sword slicing through the air.
Han ngli looked at the massive attack, knowing he could not dodge it. At the sa ti, he didn’t know if he could handle it either. He protected himself as well as he could, preparing for the hit, and closed his eyes.
This was death.
An explosion rang out, followed by a shockwave that blasted at Han ngli. However, the attack never ca.
Han ngli slowly opened his eyes, unable to understand why he hadn’t died. When he did, he noticed a creature before him—sothing he could not explain.
The creature looked humanoid, but it was not human. It was a tall being, its massive body slumped a little as if hunchbacked. Two massive wings ca out from its back, like those belonging to a bat. A pointed tail behind it had pierced through the chest of the demon before him.
Han ngli was struck with a sense of unnatural fear as he stared at the being before him, its body completely crimson. He had never seen such a thing before in his life.
The creature slowly turned its head toward him, two giant horns growing out of its head, its eyes glowing bloody red.
It let out a snarl for a mont, releasing a killing intent that made Han ngli want to just die right then and there. Then, in the next mont, the intent vanished—and so did the creature.
Sounds of desperate cries rang out from all around him, and he turned around to look at the situation. When he did, he saw three massive beasts tearing through the demons, killing each one.
And from what he could see, these beasts were of the sa color as the creature he had seen before—completely crimson.
A stench of blood assaulted his senses for a mont, forcing him to stop breathing. He took the mont to look around for more enemies. When he found none whatsoever, he ran toward Naless and the others.
By the ti he arrived, not a single demon lived around them, leaving the hundreds of slaves with an awestruck look.
Even Naless watched the situation with wide eyes, not knowing what had just happened. It was only when one man spoke aloud that he realized the truth.
“The Blood God! The Blood God has co to save us.”
