Many students were gathered here, expressions of terror on their faces, as if they had just seen sothing horrifying.
Ye Tian and Zhang Xinlan made their way into the crowd. Many people glanced over at the pair, but only for a mont before their gazes returned to the spot just ahead.
Ye Tian carefully examined their surroundings and noticed many cracks in the ground. Though not wide, they were bottomless and incredibly eerie.
"Excuse ," Ye Tian asked a student next to him, "what happened here? You all look terrified. Did a High-Tier Demon Beast show up?"
"A High-Tier Demon Beast did appear, and a very terrifying one at that. If we could get its Magic Crystal, it would be worth a hundred ordinary ones. It's dangerous, but no one can bear to leave. Are you two thinking the sa?" that student asked.
"A High-Tier Demon Beast? What kind is it? Everyone seems to be okay, I don't see any casualties. You're all staring at the ground... don't tell the Demon Beast is underground?" Ye Tian asked.
'He asked because the cracks in the ground were so bizarre; it was as if a huge fissure had opened and then healed over. He just couldn't figure out what kind of Demon Beast this was. The Dean and the others should have already slain any Tier Four Demon Beasts.'
'Could it be that they didn't find it because it was underground? If so, this field exercise is far more dangerous than we thought. I wonder how many students will end up dead or injured.'
"That's right. This Demon Beast is very powerful. It looks a bit like a turtle, but it's enormous. The most terrifying thing is its incredible Defense Power. A mont ago, it used so unknown skill and a huge fissure suddenly split the ground open. Many students fell right in."
"But the fissure closed up just as quickly. Those students were basically buried alive... it's horrifying to even think about it. Still, faced with a High-Tier Demon Beast like this, everyone is terrified, but they also all want to get its Magic Crystal. It's a classic case of 'high risk, high reward,' so no one is willing to leave."
"If you two plan on staying, you'd better be careful. Don't slip up and fall into a fissure, or you'll be buried alive too!" that student said.
After hearing the student's explanation, Ye Tian and Zhang Xinlan had a general idea of the situation. The Demon Beast was so mysterious that Ye Tian was curious to see it, but his main priority was to kill it before more students died. 'That student was honest enough to tell us the truth,' he thought. 'He seems like a decent person. If he gets into trouble, maybe I can help him.'
"Ye Tian, if I'm not mistaken, this Demon Beast must be an Earth-Split Demon Turtle," Zhang Xinlan said, her expression serious. "It's an incredibly terrifying Demon Beast. Even I'm not completely confident I could slay it, so we'll have to be extrely careful."
"Earth-Split Demon Turtle? What kind of Demon Beast is that?" Ye Tian said. "For even you to not be confident in slaying it, with your level of strength... that's a little hard to believe."
"The Earth-Split Demon Turtle is a Tier Four Demon Beast," Zhang Xinlan said. "For these students to be here trying to kill it, they're simply committing suicide. Those students who were buried alive have likely already beco the turtle's al. It must be an Earth Attribute Demon Beast, which ans its Magic Crystal will be an Earth Attribute Magic Crystal."
Ye Tian fell silent, pondering Zhang Xinlan's words. 'An Earth Attribute Magic Crystal... I think I have one of those. The Earth Bear I fought before was an Earth Attribute Demon Beast, but I never took a close look at the Magic Crystal I got from it.'
He glanced around and saw more than forty students standing within a radius of several dozen ters. There were students from the Basic, Middle, and Advanced Classes. All of them were clutching their Weapons, cautiously on guard as they waited for the Earth-Split Demon Turtle to reappear.
Everyone's face was tense, but no one was willing to leave. Ye Tian and Zhang Xinlan found it utterly ridiculous. This was simply courting death. A Tier Four Demon Beast could easily annihilate every single one of them. Hoping to get its Magic Crystal was a complete pipe dream.
Just then, a violent tremor suddenly shook the ground. It was like an earthquake, making it impossible to stand steady. Ye Tian quickly grabbed Zhang Xinlan to keep her from falling.
This was the first ti he'd had any real physical contact with Zhang Xinlan. The situation was so urgent that he didn't think twice about it. In his mind, he was only doing it because he considered her a friend.
Zhang Xinlan's heart, however, felt a surge of warmth. 'This proves Ye Tian cares about ,' she thought, a happy feeling blooming in her chest. 'It ans he does have feelings for .'
An unconscious blush crept onto her cheeks. With her level of power, she hardly needed Ye Tian's help to stay standing; if anything, he was the one who might need her support.
"Ye Tian, thank you," Zhang Xinlan said softly.
"The Demon Beast is erging! Everyone, be careful! Get ready to attack!" a student from the Advanced Class shouted to the others.
Ye Tian looked toward the voice and saw that the student's forehead was beaded with sweat. He was clearly terrified, likely because his earlier encounter with the Earth-Split Demon Turtle had left a deep impression on him.
After the earth-shaking tremors subsided, a turtle of imnse size appeared before them. The creature was as large as a house. How could these students possibly slay such a colossal Demon Beast? It was like an egg trying to smash a stone—a suicidal effort.
Zhang Xinlan's expression was unreadable, her eyes fixed on the Earth-Split Demon Turtle. "Ye Tian, I really underestimated this thing. Normal Earth-Split Demon Turtles are Tier Four Demon Beasts, but this one... this one is Tier Five."
"Do you see that sharp horn on its head? Only a Tier Five Earth-Split Demon Turtle will grow one. That horn can instantly condense a huge amount of Earth Elent Particles. This thing is terrifying."
"A Tier Five Demon Beast?" Ye Tian exclaid. "My heavens... With such imnse Defense Power and terrifying strength, trying to kill it is impossible. Xinlan, should we get out of here?"
"Leave? Are you joking? That's not the Ye Tian I know," Zhang Xinlan said. "But it's true that killing this thing will be extrely difficult. Do you see that patch of white near its tail? That's the Earth-Split Demon Turtle's fatal weakness. If we can break through that spot, it'll be nothing to fear."
Ye Tian looked closely and, sure enough, he saw the white patch. However, since it was on the creature's underside, attacking it would be incredibly difficult. He would just have to wait for an opportunity.
"Puny humans, you dare disturb my slumber? Today, you will all die!" the Earth-Split Demon Turtle suddenly bood in a human tongue.
For many of the students, this was the first ti they had ever heard a Demon Beast speak. They all stared in utter disbelief, seemingly forgetting to attack the creature before them.
"Everyone, attack! Use your Martial Skills on it together!" the student from the Advanced Class yelled to the others.
In an instant, everyone unleashed their Martial Skills, launching a full-power assault on the Earth-Split Demon Turtle…
