"Ye Tian, thank you! If that really happens, I'll ask for your help!" Zhang Xinlan said, deeply moved.
The pair arrived before the Spirit Gathering Array and waited quietly for the moon to appear. The moonlight was at its most potent at midnight, and the long, tedious wait stretched on.
To break the silence, Ye Tian said, "Xinlan, what kind of secret do you think this Spirit Gathering Array is hiding? Could there be so kind of treasure buried here? Otherwise, that predecessor from your Sect wouldn't have gone to such lengths to secretly set it up in this place."
"I think so too," Zhang Xinlan said. "There must be so secret for him to have set up the Spirit Gathering Array here. The idea must be to use the abundant Spiritual Qi to conceal the true secret. But I also have a question. If our Sect's predecessor knew there was sothing here, why didn't he take it himself, or have soone else from the Sect retrieve it?"
Ye Tian frowned slightly, pondering the question. "Do you think it's possible your Sect's predecessor was injured? Maybe he was unable to send a ssage or take the item with him, so he used this Spirit Gathering Array to hide the secret. But you said this predecessor was at least at the Six Veins Realm. There can't be many who could injure him, so what else could it be?"
"We don't know what really happened, and wild guesses won't get us anywhere," Zhang Xinlan said, her expression turning serious. "We'll just have to wait for the text on the stone pillar to appear to find out. I just hope everything goes smoothly tonight."
The two fell silent for a mont, each seemingly pondering the other's words. Though they couldn't be sure, they both felt there was a kernel of truth in their speculations.
The wait was agonizing, made all the more frustrating by their eagerness. Finally, the most intense rays of the midnight moon appeared.
"Ye Tian, pour your Spiritual Power into the third stone pillar! Whether or not we succeed is all up to you now!" Zhang Xinlan exclaid.
As she spoke, she flew into the air, her hands continuously forming a series of techniques. A steady stream of white light poured out, landing on the third stone pillar.
A continuous stream of Dragon Spiritual Power from within Ye Tian's body also poured into the stone pillar. A mont later, sothing unexpected occurred.
The moonlight landed on the stone pillar, followed by Zhang Xinlan's white light. In response, the pillar began to emit a red light, one that was incredibly dazzling.
Ordinarily, a light this bright would be visible for miles, but a Barrier suddenly ford, preventing the red glow from escaping, as if deliberately concealing it.
Zhang Xinlan's expression was now incredibly grave, and beads of sweat had appeared on her stunningly beautiful face. This made Ye Tian worry; he couldn't tell if she was simply overexerting herself or if her hidden ailnt was flaring up.
Even as Zhang Xinlan struggled to make the text on the pillar appear, she was also keeping a close watch on Ye Tian. She was worried his Spiritual Power might run out, which would render all their efforts useless.
Noticing the concern on his face, she imdiately said, "Ye Tian, don't worry about . I'm fine. This stone pillar is incredibly bizarre, to even generate a Barrier. It seems the text on it is extrely important. You have to hold on!"
"Don't worry, Xinlan. My Spiritual Power isn't as weak as you think. I've used less than twenty percent so far. I should be able to maintain this until the text on the pillar appears!" Ye Tian replied.
Ye Tian was telling the truth. His Dragon Spiritual Power was inherently more powerful than an ordinary person's Spiritual Power. Although he was only at the Three Vein Realm, he possessed the Spiritual Power of soone at the Four Vein Realm, and it was even purer.
Zhang Xinlan felt a sense of relief upon hearing his words. She was also amazed by his astonishing Spiritual Power, but this was a critical mont, and she couldn't afford to be distracted.
The red light on the third stone pillar continued to flicker. Gradually, the points of light began to converge, and before long, they had ford a red, six-pointed star.
This six-pointed star was both unfamiliar and familiar to Ye Tian. It was the sa image that had appeared when he ford a Soul Contract with Ye Lin. He only knew that it was a symbol of imnse Energy, and for it to appear here ant this was no simple matter.
Zhang Xinlan's hands moved even faster through the techniques. Sweat poured from her like rain, soaking through her clothes. Her breathing grew ragged, showing clear signs that her Spiritual Power was running low.
In response, Ye Tian began to pour his Spiritual Power in even more fiercely, thinking that perhaps his own insufficient output was what made it so strenuous for her.
Perhaps Ye Tian's guess was correct. As he increased the input of his Spiritual Power, Zhang Xinlan clearly felt the pressure on her lighten, and she couldn't help but shoot him a grateful glance.
After about the ti it takes for half an incense stick to burn, the red six-pointed star was completely ford. It began to rotate slowly, and Zhang Xinlan descended from the air, landing back on the ground.
Ye Tian, however, continued to pour in his Dragon Spiritual Power. He had already consud a considerable amount—about fifty percent of his reserves. But seeing Zhang Xinlan land safely, he finally felt his worries ease. At least for now, they had succeeded.
"How much longer can you last?" Zhang Xinlan asked, walking over to his side.
"I should be able to hold on for another hour. Why? Is that not enough ti? If we need more, I can absorb Spirit Stones while channeling my Spiritual Power. I could even last two hours that way, no problem," Ye Tian said.
Zhang Xinlan looked at Ye Tian in disbelief. 'This guy is an absolute monster. How can he do that? It's completely unheard of! I doubt even the geniuses in the Holy Land could do sothing like this.'
"That's more than enough. It won't take nearly that long," Zhang Xinlan said. "Just watch. The text on the pillar is about to appear!"
Just as Zhang Xinlan had predicted, a few breaths later, a beam of red light shot out from within the six-pointed star, striking the pillar. The pillar imdiately began to tremble, and soon the entire ground seed to shake along with it.
Ye Tian continued to pour in his Spiritual Power, but his attention was fixed on the pillar. He watched as chunks of stone began to break off its surface, only to be sucked into the six-pointed star.
The process continued for so ti before finally stopping. The pillar's tremors ceased, and the only thing still moving was the endlessly rotating six-pointed star. A terrifying aura emanated from within it, feeling like the power of the Primordial Chaos itself.
"Ye Tian, you can stop now," Zhang Xinlan said. "The text is about to appear. I hope this won't be a disappointnt and that it will finally answer our questions."
Ye Tian slowly stopped channeling his Spiritual Power. His face was a little pale, but he was happy to have successfully completed his part of the task.
Just then, the six-pointed star began to spin faster and faster, churning the surrounding air until it seed to be torn to shreds. Suddenly, countless stone fragnts shot out from the star, transforming in the blink of an eye into golden words that scattered through the air...
