This was the most crucial and exciting mont of all. After waiting for so long, the words on the stone pillar had finally appeared.
Zhang Xinlan's eyes were fixed on the golden words in the air. anwhile, the hexagram continued to shoot out fragnts from the stone, only stopping after a good while.
There were at least several thousand golden characters in the air. They were easy enough to see clearly, but rembering them was difficult. The greatest challenge was connecting all the characters into sentences to comprehend their aning.
Although Ye Tian was smart, he was completely clueless about these golden characters and couldn't help Zhang Xinlan at all. The only thing he could do was not disturb her.
Just then, however, the characters began to change. One by one, the tiny characters started to combine, forming larger ones. Within the span of a few breaths, the thousands of characters had beco hundreds.
The most magical part was that they ford complete sentences. As Zhang Xinlan began to understand their aning, Ye Tian saw her expression shift constantly—first delight, then fear, and finally delight again. Her repeated changes were quite baffling.
After lingering in the air for a mont, the golden characters slowly faded away. The red hexagram vanished along with them, and everything returned to normal. All that remained was the bright moonlight shining on the stone pillar.
The third stone pillar, however, was now damaged beyond recognition. The Spirit Gathering Array was completely destroyed. Zhang Xinlan, anwhile, was still deep in thought with her eyes closed, presumably contemplating the aning of the golden characters.
Two hours later, Zhang Xinlan opened her eyes. Smiling at Ye Tian, she said, "I understand the aning of the golden characters now. This place really was left behind by a senior of my Sect. And it was thousands of years ago."
"Thousands of years?" Ye Tian said. 'What's going on? If it was that long ago, Linyuan Academy wouldn't have even been founded yet! Could it be that the founders of Linyuan Academy built the headmaster's private cultivation area here simply because the Spiritual Qi was so abundant?'
"That's probably about right. Years ago, that senior from my Sect ca here by accident after being severely injured. He discovered a powerful Spiritual Power fluctuation and, while recovering, he made a point to search for its source."
"It took him a long ti, but he eventually found it. An Ancient Treasure was hidden here. However, he couldn't acquire it, partly because of his injuries, and partly because the treasure itself seed to have so peculiar quality that stopped him."
"To protect the treasure, he set up the Spirit Gathering Array as a cover, hoping a disciple from our Sect would discover it one day. He never expected it would take thousands of years for to be the one to find it, and for us to learn this secret," Zhang Xinlan said.
"So what exactly is this treasure? Did your Sect senior ntion it?" Ye Tian asked. Truth be told, his own interest in the treasure had been piqued.
'I have plenty of treasures,' he thought, 'but how many of them can be called Ancient Treasures? It goes without saying that this must be sothing incredibly precious. But obtaining it won't be easy. If even he couldn't get it back then, Zhang Xinlan and I might not be able to either.'
"It's common knowledge that the War Dragons of the Dragon Race were the most powerful experts in the world, but they fell many years ago. The treasure my Sect senior discovered seems to be a type of Martial Skill, one that is supposedly even more terrifying than those of the War Dragons. The text didn't specify what it is."
"We'll have to find the Martial Skill itself to know for sure. The entrance to get the treasure is right under this Spirit Gathering Array. Should we go take a look?" Zhang Xinlan asked.
"It's probably very dangerous, but we definitely have to take a look. Just not right now. Both of us have consud a great deal of Spiritual Power. We should recover fully before we go; it won't be too late. That way, we'll have a chance to escape if we encounter any danger."
"Besides, tonight is a full moon. You should take your elixir or Ye Lin's blood to keep your condition stable. If sothing were to happen unexpectedly, we would truly regret it," Ye Tian said gravely.
"You're right. I'll take my dicine, and you recover your Spiritual Power. Once we're both back at our peak, we'll go and see just what kind of treasure could have been so important to my Sect's senior."
"I also misrembered sothing," Zhang Xinlan added. "That senior from my Sect was at the Late Seven Veins stage. If soone of his power considered it a treasure, then it must be sothing extraordinary!"
'Late Seven Veins stage?' Ye Tian thought. 'That's truly terrifying. Zhang Fengyu of Shen Li Palace is only at the Seven Veins stage, and so is Elder Qing. For soone with such terrifying power to be injured and forced to flee here... I wonder who could have possibly hurt him.'
"And if even he, with his Seven Veins cultivation, couldn't obtain it, it will likely be even more difficult for us. There's bound to be danger. We'll have to be extrely careful," Ye Tian said, his expression serious.
After speaking, Ye Tian took out two Top-Grade Spirit Stones from his Storage Ring and began absorbing them. At the sa ti, a red elixir appeared in Zhang Xinlan's hand. She sat on the ground, swallowed it in one gulp, and began circulating her Spiritual Power to digest its potency.
Although Ye Tian was absorbing the Energy from the Spirit Stones, he kept his Divine Sense focused on Zhang Xinlan. He recalled her saying she would feel weak all over after taking the elixir, and since she had already overexerted herself, he worried that an even more severe reaction might occur.
Because of this, he didn't absorb the energy too quickly. At first, Zhang Xinlan showed no reaction, but as ti passed, a faint mist began to form around her body.
Gradually, the faint mist thickened into a dense fog, completely enveloping her. Most strangely, the surrounding temperature plumted. Frost began to appear, and then things actually started to freeze over.
Ye Tian's physique was exceptional, yet even he felt the bone-chilling cold. It was just like the river where he had encountered the Beiming Li Fish, and he couldn't help but shiver.
He hurriedly circulated the Water Elental Energy in his body to resist the cold. 'I can't believe taking this elixir causes such a terrifying reaction,' he thought. 'I can't imagine how painful it must be when her condition truly flares up.'
Just then, Zhang Xinlan let out a pained groan, clearly in extre agony. Ye Tian imdiately stopped his cultivation, stood up, and walked over to her.
The temperature dropped even further as he drew near. He saw that Zhang Xinlan's body was shaking uncontrollably. Her face was livid and her lips looked as if she'd bitten them raw. 'It must be from the pain,' he realized.
Ye Tian knew this was likely caused by the extre cold. Without a mont's hesitation, he circulated his Dragon Spiritual Power and channeled it directly into Zhang Xinlan's body…
