Ye Tian hadn't expected obtaining the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus to be so easy. He thought it would be incredibly tough and require a great deal of effort to acquire. Now, having smoothly obtained one stalk, his confidence soared.
He swung the Black Glaze Sword in his hand directly at the second Seven-Colored Golden Lotus. Soon, it too was his. Then ca the third.
As soon as he took them, all three Seven-Colored Golden Lotuses transford into seedpods, their Lotus Seeds already mature. It was incredibly magical and utterly inexplicable; he could only assu this was the reward for passing the second trial.
Now, only the seedpod that had ford long ago remained. Ye Tian could feel that the Energy fluctuations from this one were even more intense. Perhaps, he thought, a naturally matured seedpod like this was the true treasure.
Without hesitation, he continued, using the Black Glaze Sword to sever the stalk beneath the seedpod. This ti, however, it wasn't so easy. The Black Glaze Sword only managed to break a small opening, and a powerful recoil force shot back up his arm.
Ye Tian glanced at the tiny gash and calculated that he would probably need to strike it seven or eight more tis to get it. This only further proved how extraordinary this seedpod was. Such treasures were a once-in-a-lifeti find.
Ye Tian struck again. The result was the sa as the first ti: the gash widened just a little, and a sharp, aching pain shot through his palm.
Just as Ye Tian was preparing for his third strike, the voice of the War Dragon Remnant Soul echoed in his mind. "Kid, can you hurry it up? Look behind you! The Barrier is already half its original size. If it closes up, you'll be trapped in here! If you don't use your full power now, when will you?"
Startled by the War Dragon Remnant Soul's voice, Ye Tian imdiately glanced back at the Barrier. He couldn't see it, however. It was, after all, invisible and could only be perceived with Divine Sense.
But at this point, he decided against checking with his Divine Sense, as that would only waste ti. "I understand, Senior. Thank you for the reminder. I'll use a Martial Skill at full power to sever it now."
Without waiting to see if the War Dragon Remnant Soul had anything else to say, Ye Tian swung the Black Glaze Sword once more. This strike was, of course, Gold Slash, and it was infused with Thunder Power. In an instant, flashes of golden light and lightning crackled, striking the stalk beneath the seedpod simultaneously.
The effect of this strike was obvious; the stalk was severed halfway through. Two more hits like that and it would be his. However, the powerful recoil nearly tore the Black Glaze Sword from his grasp.
All Ye Tian could feel was the searing pain in his palm. He looked down and saw his hand was covered in blood. The blood was now flowing down the hilt and onto the blade, where it was naturally being absorbed.
Ti waits for no one. As if forgetting the pain, Ye Tian unleashed Gold Slash once more. The seedpod's stalk was now about to break; he just needed one more strike to get it.
"Hurry! You have a few breaths' ti at most, or you can wait to be trapped here for several hundred years! The Barrier is about to close completely!" the War Dragon Remnant Soul's voice appeared in Ye Tian's mind once again.
Panic seized Ye Tian's heart. He sent the Black Glaze Sword flying from his hand to strike the seedpod's stalk. This ti, it was severed completely. The seedpod fell, and Ye Tian caught it, imdiately storing it in his Storage Ring with a thought.
anwhile, he used his mind to guide the Black Glaze Sword back toward him as his body shot toward the opening in the Barrier. By the ti he reached the hole, the Black Glaze Sword was back in his hand.
Ye Tian turned sideways and slipped through the opening horizontally. While running toward the Barrier's opening, he had already extended his Divine Sense to check its condition.
He had discovered that the opening was now only half a ter wide. A person couldn't pass through it directly; he had to turn sideways and go through horizontally.
When he erged outside the Barrier, his head was already drenched in sweat, and his chest heaved violently.
'That was a really close call. I was almost trapped inside,' Ye Tian murmured, watching the opening in the Barrier continue to shrink before him. 'I wonder if this ans I've passed the second trial?'
This had been a huge gamble on Ye Tian's part. A single mistake at any point could have left him trapped inside. Even if he had escaped, he might have lost the Black Glaze Sword.
He had chosen to control the Black Glaze Sword with his mind and had pinpointed its exact location while running toward the Barrier's opening. This way, he could pass through without any delay.
If he had tried to grab the Black Glaze Sword with his hand, it would have certainly caused a delay. He might have gotten stuck just as his body was passing through the opening—that would have been the most tragic outco.
Less than ten breaths after Ye Tian made it out, the opening in the Barrier closed completely. It had been an incredibly close shave.
Ye Tian wanted to take the Seven-Colored Golden Lotuses out from his Storage Ring to examine them, but he held back, suspecting the mysterious voice might appear.
Just as he thought, the voice soon appeared. "Very good. I didn't expect you to pass the second trial in such a short ti. I will now send you to the third trial."
"However, I must remind you of one thing. The Lotus Seeds from the three Seven-Colored Golden Lotuses contain imnse Energy. If you wish to absorb it, it is best not to be too aggressive, or you risk exploding and dying. As for the Lotus Seeds from the final seedpod, you absolutely must not absorb them lightly. You will need to beco much, much stronger before you can."
"That seedpod is no ordinary one; it was ford from a Seven-Colored Divine Lotus, a treasure seen once in ten thousand years. Just rember that."
Hearing this, Ye Tian felt completely lost, but he restrained himself and said nothing. 'Since it's such a good thing, its effects must be extraordinary. I'm really lucky to have gotten it,' he thought. 'I wonder what Zhang Xinlan, Ye Lin, and the Snake King received. I wonder if they've passed their trials yet.'
Just then, a violent tremor shook the space before Ye Tian. A powerful pulling force erged, and he flew into the air involuntarily. His vision went black, and he was taken to another place.
When Ye Tian could see clearly again, he was stunned. This was the sa place the four of them had arrived at from the fiery cavern. The altar not far in front of him was the most obvious landmark, along with the box on top of it.
'So I'm back where I started. The first two trials were just running in circles.' Ye Tian realized he was the only one here; the other three hadn't erged yet. This made him a little worried. He wondered if they would face the sa dangers he did. If they couldn't pass, they would be trapped for years, or even longer.
"You don't need to look for them. The three of them cannot pass these trials. Since you were chosen, it was only natural that you alone could pass those two gates. However, the rewards they received were also very generous, so you don't need to worry. Now, focus on your third trial!" the mysterious voice appeared once again.
"Please tell , what is the third trial?" Ye Tian asked. Since Zhang Xinlan and Ye Lin were no longer in danger, he could set his worries aside.
