Ace used his remaining ti to focus on what he could change before his return. With a thin ray of hope he already believed he would return, what else would he believe?

He wrote to the WireRats, for them to keep their ears and eyes open for news about the Scar, especially for a girl nad Lito. He didn’t know about the aftermath of what happened and he still needed to track down his artifact.

Then he looked at the pawns that he had already gathered. There wasn’t much he could do with them at the mont, they were the sword and shield that he was building and yet he couldn’t even take them with him.

Ironic.

But he wasn’t angry, after all it’s not all weapons that are taken to battle.

"I need you guys to focus on training, stay out of House politics. Stay clear from it. We need to build the House, I’ve already written down the list of potential candidates. Julius will check them out. I hope I am back before the House Festival at the end of the year."

They didn’t speak much. Whatever they needed to say had been said already.

Ace was dressed in a black robe. He didn’t carry a sword or anything on him. But there was a curious black tattoo on his left hand, it was wrapped tightly on his wrist with slightly shimring colors.

The band was a space storage tattoo band.

It’s just like all the other space storage, but the one on his hand was keyed directly to him and would only collapse in seven months. It’ll give more space than the one that Ace could afford if he was buying a physical, long lasting one.

Even then, the expenses were so much Ace gave the team the thod of waking and killing tree monsters because they would need it.

Right then, Ace was glad that he had created the House. "How would I afford to sponsor myself then?"

When it was early morning, he stood at the door and gazed at them, his eyes already faraway. "I’ll see you then."

"Ace Eros," Head Instructor Darius Faulkner greeted, his eyes were gleaming as if a favorite dish had been served to him, his single eye twitched. "You are here."

Ace was standing in front of his office, he bowed slightly. "Head Instructor."

In the room with the Head Instructor were five more people, their faces covered with a hood. No parts of their bodies were shown but when he spoke they turned their heads towards him.

A chill ran down his spine as if they were stripping him with their eyes that he couldn’t see, looking directly at his soul. Just who are these people? They had no presence!

"They are the guardians of the door," Darius said as if he could read his mind. "They are responsible for the doors that lead in and out of Sector Delta."

"Is that why there’s so much strangeness around them?"

"Co," Darius said, he stood and faced the guardians. "We are ready."

One of the guardians stepped forward, his hand laid flat on the Head Instructor’s desk and it humd to life under his hand.

Ace had decided to think of the guardians as male, it makes things easier. He stepped deeper into the room and stared at the desk that was covered with various symbols.

"So the guardians and the Head Instructor have to cooperate."

The runes on the desk flickered to life one by one and a wave of pulsing energy filled the room. Suddenly the desk lted away and revealed stairs that led downward.

Ace raised his brows. "So Sector Delta was technically built directly under the Academy!"

They walked down the stairs and into a short tunnel that led to a bigger room. The tunnel, the walls, everything in sight since Ace walked down the stairs was covered in runes.

"This is more like a prison."

"Two Stigma. You have to have the mark of a God or god on you before you are given passage to return," Darius said.

"The door won’t allow otherwise?" Ace frowned.

"Yes, it won’t," Darius said.

They faced the door for going.

It was a big thing of shimring golden light and blue energy that ford the shape of flickering runes.

The guardians began to chant.

As Ace stared at it, the emotionless mask he’d been wearing cracked a little and he watched the door with slight hesitation.

"I don’t want to go in there, why does everything have to turn on itself so fast?"

He took a deep breath to steady himself. And his gaze hardened on Darius.

"I will pay him back in due ti."

Suddenly the light of the door bent, warping around a door shape that ford in the middle.

The door was made of golden light but when it swung open there was nothing inside. Just darkness so deep and absolute.

"I wish you luck, Ace Eros."

"Thank you, Head Instructor," Ace said in a blank tone and then he walked to the door.

And entered.
