63: The Payback [1] 63: The Payback [1] The little boy nad Xenon asked innocently, “An illustrious person like you would obviously not be associated with This Garbage from the slums, would you?” The mont the little thing stated his insults towards Akon, a deafening, unnerving, ominous chill spread through the air itself.
Akon looked at his brother, a shadow covered his face, as a small, chilling smile crept up onto his face.
Akon hurriedly spoke in panic, “Brother, this is not…wha…..” But before he could speak any further, a soft sound resounded in his ears.
It contained no emotion or authority, but the words themselves were extrely heavy: “Quiet, Akon.” Akon felt his throat go dry.
Many others within the bridge also sensed sothing was wrong in the surroundings, but weren’t able to pinpoint the source of the problem.
There were many other mages at that place with their families or relatives, even so mid-ranking mages.
Runic mages weren’t as reclusive as many others.
So, they often had families of their own.
By this ti, the boy nad Xenon also sensed sothing was wrong.
he just wanted to insult the bastard one last ti, who caused him to be expelled; he didn’t know how the bastard from the slums did so, and his older brother also warned him not to cause any trouble.
But it was impossible for Xenon to accept that a bastard from the slums had caused him to be expelled; wouldn’t he beco the biggest joke of that class and among his peers, even if he did not attend the sa school anymore, it rarely took ti for gossip to spread.
Xenon did not feel anything pressuring him or threatening his life, but only that the man accompanying the garbage seed strange for so reason.
He had blue eyes a mont ago, but why did they change to red?
And the subtle smile that gave the boy a very bad feeling.
But Akon had it worse, Sweat was trickling down his forehead.
This was the absolute worst scenario that could occur, he rembered, that one ti, there was another beggar who ca into their rundown house in the slums, for not finding anything valuable.
The guy slapped Akon hard in the face.
When his brother found out about it, he went batshit crazy.
Akon never saw that crazy drunkard ever again in the slums.
Now that he thought about it, it was likely, his brother had killed the damn drunkard.
A sense of terror ran through him; no, he might just kill this sadistic bastard.
But Akon was paralyzed in fear, unable to do anything, anwhile Axel himself let out a small laugh.
The mana in the air moved, unnaturally so.
There was a ring on his left hand.
The artifact that kept Axel’s true power and runic eyes hidden.
The runes in the ring were created by a peak 7th circle Runecaster; even so, it trembled madly.
As if they could barely contain the maelstrom of power raging within its host.
The mana levitated the boy higher, and the boy’s head reached the sa height as Axel’s.
The little boy tried to struggle, and there was a fearful look on his face as well.
He shouted, “What are you doing?
Do you know who I am, you bastard?
My brother he is a 4th circle mage, he will kill you and that garbage.” The grip of the mana instinctively tightened.
Axel was enraged beyond belief, it seems his brother was getting bullied.
But the apparent threat of the kid still enraged him extrely.
Axel grabbed the head of the kid with one hand and said, being as calm as possible, “First, explain why you insulted my little brother, and who exactly is this brother of yours.
It seems your family has failed to educate you properly.” Axel was trying to take care of the situation while being as calm as possible.
Even though anything happening to his little brother was an extrely sensitive topic to him.
If it were an adult making the threats instead of a little kid, he would have butchered the person alive.
But he had no intention to do anything too severe to the kid, unless the situation called for it.
But on the inside, he was fuming.
There are so things he had little control over; his little brother being ntally or physically threatened was one of those things, but he tried his best to control the overflowing rage within him.
Seeing the kid not answer, he slapped him as gently as possible.
Blood still ca out of the kid’s mouth.
Probably a few teeth had broken as well.
He asked again the sa question, but the kid started crying and gave him a furious glare.
Many others started to witness the event happening, so felt the need to stop this atrocity.
After all, to a bystander, it would look like a little kid is being beaten by an adult, for maybe no apparent reason, and in front of everybody.
So saw that he was a mage and backed away; there were mages there as well who recognized ‘Ash’ as the disciple of the vice tower master.
While others kept looking as if enjoying a show.
Axel had already slapped the boy three tis by now, but the kid only kept crying louder and louder instead of answering the damn question.
Axel noticed, his brother was becoming more and more scared, even anxious at how the situation was developing.
Having Akon right there did not allow Axel to opt to any violent thods.
Just as he was about to deliver another slap, his hand was abruptly stopped.
It seed like a mage had teleported right in front of him.
Then grabbed his hand very tightly.
He could easily see the power behind the grip of the man, he was very strong.
The person said in a barely suppressed fury, “YOU THINK YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT?” “Just because you’re the vice tower master’s disciple?” The person looked towards the little boy, being held in the air, and seeing the bloody face, the man beca even more enraged.
He stated, “You dare touch my brother.” But before the man could do anything, Axel grabbed that very hand with his remaining one.
He simply clenched his fists, and all the bones in that part of the person’s hand got shattered in a re instant.
The man howled in pain as his hand let go of Axel in pain.
Axel threw two small artifacts towards Akon, and a powerful transparent shield materialized around Akon.
Monts later, he lost consciousness and slumped to the ground.
In those few seconds, the mage had already healed his hands.
A strange disk-like necklace hung on the mage’s chest.
It glowed strangely.
Axel noted the artifact as the rune matrix of the 4th circle mage.
A runic mage can create a runic matrix of their own in which pre-recorded spell formulas exist with various combinations.
Yes, from the 4th circle onwards, Runecasters can effectively cast spells.
So, the gap between the 3rd circle and the 4th circle is imnse because of the high qualitative change.
The mage declared thunderously, “I don’t know what bullshit you did just a mont ago, but you seem to be forgetting your place, just because you’re the vice tower master’s disciple doesn’t make you untouchable.” “You don’t know how far the gap is between a second circle and a 4th circle; you are a delusional fool.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Seeker_of_Chaos Thank you for reading.
