The Big Boss was furious and had thus sent them to seek revenge.
"Understood, we’ll spare his life!" the Dwarf replied, then obediently stayed by his side.
However, a frail-looking man beside him pushed up his glasses. He swallowed nervously, mustering the courage to speak to their boss, "But, but... Boss, are we really going to ambush the outpost like this? This is still Great Xia’s territory, after all. Although the outposts here are spread far apart, at the end of the day, they are still manned by Great Xia soldiers, and we..."
The bespectacled man trailed off.
But his point was already clear.
Even though they were brutal, disregarded human life, and were utterly lawless with their own ard forces, at the end of the day, they were just a criminal gang.
They could handle ordinary people or other ard groups, perhaps.
But facing the highly disciplined army of Great Xia, there was simply no comparison!
The Dwarf felt this was sowhat risky!
Of course, their boss was aware of this.
So, he lit a cigarette and then fiercely slapped the bespectacled man across the face, sending his glasses flying.
The boss cursed,
"Are you suggesting I’m sending my brothers to their deaths?
"Do you know things I don’t? Things the Big Boss doesn’t know?
"Now, let explain the plan to ambush the outpost in detail.
"I’ve checked out that outpost. There’s only one squad stationed there.
"When we reach the outpost, wait for my command. Open fire when I say so, and pull out imdiately when I give the word. Got it?"
The boss looked at his n.
They all nodded eagerly. "Understood!"
"Alright, speed up! If we don’t make it on ti, I’ll feed your whole family to the fish when we get back!"
The boss barked at the driver.
The driver, terrified, nodded imdiately.
Before long, their vehicle wound its way to a small outpost.
This was their target.
Since it was a preditated attack, they had deliberately chosen their timing.
It was currently the soldiers’ alti, typically their most relaxed period of the day.
Gazing at the tranquil and serene outpost, the boss, holding his gun, raised his hand and ordered, "Fire!"
"BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!"
At his command, gunshots suddenly pierced the sky, shattering the outpost’s peace.
Hearing the commotion, the soldiers inside the outpost were montarily stunned before a piercing alarm blared.
Snapping back to reality, they quickly took cover and drew their weapons to return fire.
anwhile, the outpost chief, having sounded the alarm and witnessing the ferocious assault by the criminals outside, realized these n were looking for trouble.
He quickly grabbed his phone to request ergency backup from the military command.
After all, they only had one squad. While that might be enough to handle ordinary criminals, this aggressive assault was clearly preditated. They had obviously been targeted.
The chief couldn’t be certain if the attackers had reinforcents.
If they did, a mont’s negligence on his part could allow the enemy to overrun the outpost.
At that point, not only would his military career be over, but his life would also be on the line.
「anwhile」
Upon receiving the urgent request for aid and learning that outlaws had stord a border outpost, the nearby regintal headquarters treated the matter with utmost seriousness.
They imdiately began mobilizing troops to provide support.
However, they quickly identified a problem: the nearest support was at least fifteen kiloters away, and in mountainous terrain. It would take at least half an hour to reach the outpost.
If the attackers were determined to invade, half an hour would be too long; it would all be over by then.
"Damn these bastards!"
Realizing this, the officer in charge of logistical support slamd his fist on the table, cursing, "Get a helicopter there, now!"
"Sir, Colonel Huo Honghao from Shishi and his unit are conducting field training nearby. GPS shows them currently three kiloters from that outpost. Should we contact them?"
Just then, a soldier operating a computer terminal looked up from his screen and reported.
"Contact them at once! Request their imdiate assistance!" the officer commanded.
Following the order, the soldier quickly worked on the computer, and a call was soon patched through to Huo Honghao.
Huo Honghao was currently overseeing his soldiers’ field training. When he received news that an outpost rely three kiloters away was under attack, his expression turned grim. He imdiately led his n to provide reinforcents.
They rushed, cutting a journey that would normally take over twenty minutes down to just over ten.
But they were still too late.
By the ti they arrived, the outpost was a wreck. The main gate was riddled with bullets, and many soldiers were injured.
"Hello, I’m Colonel Huo Honghao from the Shishi Military District, here to provide support. Can you tell what happened before we arrived?"
Huo Honghao quickly found the outpost chief, who had been shot in the arm, and approached him to inquire about the situation.
The outpost chief recounted the events in detail.
When Huo Honghao learned that these outlaws had co seeking revenge and to cause trouble, he was furious.
Although such incidents were common along the border, especially in Nanyun Province, ard harassnt of this magnitude was rare. The border was extensive, and outposts were generally isolated, often separated by at least several tens of kiloters. Consequently, garrison duties at the outposts were rotated among squads on a weekly basis. External criminal organizations typically wouldn’t dare to provoke Great Xia so blatantly. However, so audacious groups would retaliate. This was a relatively common occurrence in the border regions, which were often mountainous and difficult to defend, making the soldiers stationed there vulnerable.
This was an outright provocation against the authority of Great Xia!
As a military man, Huo Honghao couldn’t tolerate such behavior.
Huo Honghao cursed, "How utterly presumptuous!
"Which direction did they flee? We’ll pursue them imdiately! We absolutely cannot let them escape!"
"That way!"
The chief pointed in the direction the outlaws had taken.
Huo Honghao looked in that direction, his brow furrowing. The area felt sowhat familiar.
No, it was very familiar. That was the direction Zhang Beixing had gone when he separated from them earlier!
Could it be...
Huo Honghao’s expression changed abruptly.
He pulled out his phone, and there on the screen, Zhang Beixing’s signal was still there, motionless!
