Trouble!
After learning the escape route of the group of outlaws and locating their signal, Huo Honghao realized that Zhang Beixing was right on their inevitable path of retreat. Alarms rang in his mind as he felt the situation spiraling out of control, far beyond his grasp.
This gang of outlaws was not only nurous, but they were also ard with finely crafted firearms. While not quite ard to the teeth, each had at least two guns for close and mid-range combat, and a few even had light sniper rifles! Daggers, grenades, rifles—all kinds of combat gear were at their disposal.
If Zhang Beixing ran into them at this mont... The mont they pulled their triggers, it would be rapid gunfire, a covering sweep. Beneath the full barrage of bullets, no matter how fast Zhang Beixing’s reflexes were, or how skilled his movent technique was, he would be riddled with bullets, dead beyond dead!
Thinking of this possibility, Huo Honghao beca unsettled. Concerned that Zhang Beixing might really run into trouble, he began to search through his phone. Finding Zhang Beixing’s number, he didn’t hesitate to call.
BEEP—BEEP—
The long dial tone rang out. Holding the phone, Huo Honghao felt the wait was interminably long.
Finally, after a short delay—
CLICK—
The call connected, and Zhang Beixing’s voice ca through, "Hello, Brother Huo, this is Zhang Beixing. What’s up?"
Hearing his voice, Huo Honghao breathed a sigh of relief. Zhang Beixing could answer the phone, which ant he probably hadn’t yet encountered the outlaws and was still safe.
Huo Honghao quickly said, "Young Brother Zhang, listen to ! A gang of ard outlaws just attacked our outpost. They’ve escaped the scene, and they are heading in your direction! Don’t stay there any longer. Now! Imdiately! As fast as you can, leave that place!"
Speaking at the fastest speed of his life, Huo Honghao urgently conveyed the situation at the outpost to Zhang Beixing in the briefest words possible, urging him to get away.
Hearing this, Zhang Beixing was silent for a while, offering no response.
Sensing sothing amiss, Huo Honghao was just about to ask why Zhang Beixing was hesitating when Zhang Beixing finally spoke. His tone was hesitant, "Well, Brother Huo, the gang of outlaws you ntioned... are they riding a big pickup truck, about six or seven people, ard with AKs and submachine guns?"
"Pickup truck? Six or seven people, AKs and submachine guns? Camouflage combat uniforms?" Huo Honghao repeated, furrowing his brows upon hearing Zhang Beixing’s description.
Before he could reply, the outpost commander, who had been listening on speakerphone for a while, spoke up, "That’s the group, no mistake. Comrade Zhang, have you encountered them?"
"Uh... how to put it," Zhang Beixing said, "right now, it looks like it’s a bit more than just an encounter." Looking at the grim n in the pickup truck not far off, who had already drawn their guns and aid them at him, Zhang Beixing felt the situation might be slightly beyond what he expected. "They’re coming for now!" he added.
Hearing this, Huo Honghao’s expression changed drastically. He was about to ask sothing more, but before he could speak—
WHIRR—
The sound of the phone being shoved into a pocket filled the air. Clearly, at this mont, Zhang Beixing had no ti to waste on further conversation with Huo Honghao.
Realizing this, Huo Honghao’s face turned as black as ink. Ending the call, he glanced at Zhang Beixing’s location on the map.
"Go! Support Zhang Beixing!" Huo Honghao declared, worried for Zhang Beixing’s safety.
He could only hope that, as a Great Grandmaster, Zhang Beixing could evade the bullets long enough for support to arrive. But he also knew that even a Great Grandmaster might be able to handle one or two criminals with handguns. However, they were helpless against a fully ard professional cri group! That saying held true: a Great Grandmaster might be formidable, but under the suppressive fire of modern weapons, they had no chance to fight back!
At his command, the others nodded, clutching their firearms and quickly heading towards Zhang Beixing’s location.
During the ti it took them to arrive, Zhang Beixing had plunged into a crisis!
...
The frigid wind howled, biting and cold. For so reason, strong winds had started to blow across this forest. The wind swept across a nearby lake, creating ripples on its surface, and snuck through the gaps in clothing, sapping body warmth.
Facing the outlaws not far away, their guns raised and aid at him, Zhang Beixing pocketed his phone. He took a slight step backward, hands behind his back, watching them with a flickering gaze. "Gentlen, I bear you no grudge. Why this hostility?"
His words had no effect. With their leader’s simple gesture, everyone on the pickup truck raised their guns, the dark muzzles all aid at Zhang Beixing! They evidently had no intention of wasting words; they were harsh and ruthless, determined to leave Zhang Beixing no chance of survival.
"Kill him!" the leader ordered, a glint of ferocity in his eyes.
Although they had ambushed the smallest outpost here, no matter how small, it was still an outpost of Great Xia.
