In their own minds, they truly are commanders— the only difference from real commanders is talent and capability."

These soldiers, though never truly gifted, were told they had the talent to be commanders, and ca to believe they truly were.
But actually, they had long been prepared as bait.
All in order to protect those with actual talent and genuine command authority.
