I don’t know if it’s because Teacher Li was giving consultations in the reproductive technology departnt initially, but that morning, Teacher Li had about forty appointnts. At Teacher Li’s pace, there was no way to finish them all in one morning, and another ti had to be arranged to see the rest of the patients. A clinical teacher with a Bodhisattva heart, she rarely refused any patient who ca pleading for an additional number.
It’s said that the appointnt numbers for other obstetrics and gynecology teachers are similar to Teacher Li’s. But for Teacher Du, it’s terrifying, with over eighty appointnts.
Before the consultation room opened, family mbers of patients were clustered in piles at the door of the doctor’s consultation room. The contrast with the adjacent rooms was stark. The anxiety, and fear that their family mber might not be seen by the doctor, was nowhere near as strong outside the other consultation rooms.
Du ngen walked lightly behind his father, feeling very proud as a son seeing his father so highly praised and welcod by patients.
At this mont, his father seed like a deity worshiped by all, incomparable to any celebrity idol. Honestly, celebrities with illnesses have to turn to his father for treatnt.
"You know, soone who has a tumor is staying in bed number five under my dad’s care. My mom said she used to act in sothing on TV and shot a Head & Shoulders comrcial. Now, every day she says to my dad, ’Thank you, Doctor Du, you are my reborn parent and savior.’" Du ngen whispered into the ear of his classmate and good friend, Zhang Shuping.
Zhang Shuping listened with a big smile, thinking of his genius uncle. Being a doctor is far more fulfilling than being an idol. Becoming a doctor like Du Haiwei or his uncle is the goal for him and Du ngen.
Behind them, Xie Wanying and Geng Yongzhe also watched the scene, deeply moved and inspired.
There’s no such thing as obstetrics and gynecology male doctors being shunned by patients when it cos to Du Haiwei. Once again, it shows that when patients’ lives are at stake, no one cares whether the doctor is male or female.
The respect from patients and their families toward Du Haiwei is partly because of the doctor’s high technical expertise and partly because everyone knows why Du Haiwei beca an obstetrics and gynecology doctor. It was to conduct dical research to treat his grandmother alongside his father, and his dical ethics are beyond question.
The elderly female patients and their families who co to see Du Haiwei firmly believe that Doctor Du will treat them as he would his grandmother. And indeed, Doctor Du treats them with such care.
"Doctor Du, these are eggs from the old hen we raise at ho. My mom insists on giving so to you," said a family mber of a patient, rushing in with a bamboo basket, determined to give the doctor a gift.
As soon as one family mber started this, another one after another joined in.
"Doctor Du, these are cabbages grown in our garden."
"Doctor Du, these are oranges we grew ourselves."
"Doctor Du, after completing the surgery, you told her to rest and do so light work at ho. She thought long and hard and knitted a towel for you. She hopes you like it."
Everyone knew that the great doctor wouldn’t accept envelopes of money, so they could only offer homade items. Patients expressed their gratitude with a dependence similar to clinging to a lifeline.
The doctor, of course, did not accept these items. As always, Du Haiwei tasked the accompanying outpatient nurse to manage these matters.
"Make way, let the doctor co in to see you," the nurse responsible for maintaining order called out.
The crowd clogged at the door dispersed.
