I stord into the company, took the elevator to the top floor, and exited at Parker’s floor. I found the secretary arranging so docunts.
Once she noticed heading to Parker’s office, she dropped the docunts and quickly rushed to .
"Hello, Ms." She tried to block my path, but I pushed her out of the way.
"Where is Parker?" I demanded, opening the office door.
"He is not here; he is in the conference room. He is about to hold a eting with so of the board mbers," she explained.
"What floor is it?" I faced her and questioned her.
"I... Ms..."
"What floor is it?" I half-yelled, impatiently.
"The 13th floor." After her response, I turned and rushed into the elevator; she grabbed the docunts and followed . She got into the elevator and stood beside .
"Ms., are you okay? You don’t look okay; I’d suggest you calm down. You don’t look good at all; your skin is red, and it seems your breathing is uneven," she said, looking at .
"Whatever it is you have with the CEO can wait; you need to regain yourself first," she continued, but I stayed silent, ignoring her.
"You won’t be able to speak to the CEO anyway; you’ll have to wait until the end of the eting. Let’s go to the kitchen; I’ll make you coffee. I’ll brew it for you and make it to your liking," she offered, but I remained silent.
We reached the 13th floor, and the door opened. I didn’t hesitate and quickly stord out. The secretary ca after .
"Ms., you need to reconsider this. You need to prioritize your health first. It seems like you’ll pass out from anger. My father owns a clinic downtown, and I’ve seen people with different health conditions. Your health is at risk here. Please prioritize yourself first." She didn’t stop speaking, but I continued ignoring her and searched for the conference room.
While searching, my eyes settled on two security n standing before a door.
Oh, that’s the conference room. I didn’t hesitate and imdiately moved toward the door, but the security n stopped before I could get close.
"What are you doing? Let go! Don’t you know who I am?" I yelled in anger at the security personnel while they dragged away.
"I believe you should let her go," the secretary said from behind.
"Only authorized personnel are allowed here. Do you know who she is?" they asked her.
"I believe she’s Ms. Ara; I’ve seen her once before. I believe she’s the one," the secretary responded.
"Is she?" one of the security guards exclaid.
"Who is she?" the other asked, seeming clueless.
"Leave her alone; we might get in trouble if we don’t," the first security guard said. After they freed , I didn’t hesitate to go to the eting room. I pushed the double doors, and they instantly opened, revealing many heads. The heads turned toward at once.
"Ara?" Parker called, rising to his feet; he was sitting at the far end of the room.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, looking shocked and confused at the sa ti.
"Send them away; I need to speak to you," I demanded.
"What?" He huffed, appearing shocked by my demands.
"Or do you prefer I say it in front of everyone?" I covered half of the room and abruptly stopped walking.
Parker nodded in agreent. "You may leave; this eting is adjourned until further notice," Parker announced. After his announcent, the audience began to leave one after the other. He ca to after they were all gone.
"You don’t look good; are you okay?" He tried to touch my forehead, but I slapped his hand away; my actions added to his shock.
"Why...?" I started. "Why are you so an? Why are you so heartless?" I asked, breathing very hard.
"Jack, the driver, why did you make such a difficult demand of him? You know he can’t afford the money, but you insisted that he pay it. He has a family to feed. He is about to get evicted from his house for being unable to pay rent, so why... Why are you being so an to him?"
Parker sighed. "Is this what it’s about? I thought it was sothing bigger. How did you learn about this? Did Jack co to you?"
"You thought it was sothing bigger? What could possibly be greater than this? A family is about to be sent to the street, for the moon goddess’s sake! His little children are at ho because he was unable to pay their fees. What could be greater than this?"
"200k?" I scoffed. "You don’t even need the money; it’s an insignificant amount to you, but to Jack that money is his whole life. Why do you behave so wickedly?"
"Ara, look, I didn’t—"
"Call Jack right now and tell him that his debts have been cancelled," I cut him off and demanded.
"What?" He scoffed.
"Tell him that he doesn’t need to pay again. Tell him that he’s free; do not ever speak to him again."
"Ara, you need to calm down for a second. Calm down and hear out. You’re running out of breath."
"I don’t care! I just want you to call him. I want you to do it in front of . Call him, Parker. I’m serious, I won’t leave unless... unless... unless you call... call..." I felt my breath hitch, and it beca extrely difficult to speak. My body stiffened and my muscles tensed up as I kept struggling to finish my sentence.
"Ara!" Parker called, drawing closer to .
"Ara, are you okay?" He tried to touch , but I felt myself losing consciousness.
"Oh shit," he groaned.
I closed my eyes for a second, and when I reopened them, I was on the floor. I saw Parker take off his jacket and cushion my head. I closed my eyes again, and when I reopened them, I saw him turning onto my side. I closed my eyes, and when I reopened them for the third ti, I was lying on the sofa, and Parker was on a call.
"Get here within ten minutes, she had another seizure," he said into the phone.
"It lasted longer this ti, two and a half minutes. I don’t know; don’t ask . Just get here."
"Yeah, she’s calr now. Don’t ask questions over the phone."
I closed my eyes again, and when I reopened them, I saw the doctor.
Doctor Eric. He was holding my wrist, trying to read my pulse, but I imdiately snatched my hand from him and sat up.
"Are you awake now? How do you feel?" he looked at .
"I... I don’t need this." I moved away from him.
"Ms., you need dical attention."
"I don’t."
"You had a seizure. This is the second ti it’s happening. I need to take you to the hospital and run a few tests."
"No, it’s useless. The only thing I need right now is freedom."
I stood on my feet, but I staggered a little.
"Hey, it’s okay," he caught . Then he shook his head. "I also suspect that this happened due to emotional stress; it affected your brain’s electrical activity, leading to seizures. But I won’t be sure unless I take you to the hospital and run so tests."
"I don’t need the test, doctor. Where is Parker? I want to see him," I asked.
"Uh... Parker is..."
"He is what?"
"He is scared to et you. He went outside when he saw you regaining consciousness."
"He knows what he did, that bastard." I tried to walk away, but Eric held back. "You need to calm down; we can’t allow this to repeat itself." He led to the sofa and helped sit.
"Doctor," I looked up at him.
"What? Do you need sothing?" he looked at .
"I’m sure Parker didn’t tell his brothers about this; he’ll probably hide it like he did the last ti. I need my phone. Can you get my phone?"
