Caron sent the invitation after Ruby texted him. Ruby wasn’t going to allow to attend the party, but I won her over.
"I’ll leave after two hours; I won’t drink, I won’t dance, and I won’t even eat." After making these promises to her, she helped get dressed for the party. She’s also getting dressed now.
After she applied her makeup, she turned to . "But how do we leave the hospital without raising suspicion? I don’t think the nurses will allow you to leave."
"We’ll sneak out; we don’t have to tell them."
"What if they find out?"
"I doubt they will."
"When they start their rounds, they’ll check your ward, and if you’re not there, it could be an issue."
"They’ll make their rounds in the next four hours; we’ll be back before then."
She sighed, stood up, and grabbed her bag. "I think you should leave a note for them, tell them you stepped out for so air and that you’ll be back," she suggested.
"Alright, good idea. There’s a paper here, but I don’t have a pen."
"I’ll go to the nurses’ station," she excused herself, left, and returned with a pen. After scribbling on it, I left the paper on top of my bed.
"Hold on." She opened the door, and after examining our surroundings, she gave a signal. "Let’s go."
I grabbed my purse, stood up, and went behind her. We rushed into the elevator and eventually made our way down to the ground floor.
"Did you inform my driver about this trip?"
"No, I didn’t; he might report it to the brothers."
"Oh, you’re right. But who’s going to drive us there?"
"My brother. I asked him to be our chauffeur for the day; he’s waiting at the lot."
"Okay," I exhaled.
We went to the parking lot and found her brother waiting in his car. Once he saw us, he unlocked the doors; Ruby sat beside him, and I sat in the backseat.
"You understand that what you’re doing is dangerous, eh?" He looked at Ruby.
"Just take us there, and then you can leave," Ruby grumbled.
Landon looked over his shoulder and settled his gaze on . "Are you okay? I heard what happened."
"I’m fine," I forced a smile.
He nodded, started the car, and left.
"Show the location," Landon said to her. Ruby showed him the location.
"It’ll take thirty-five minutes to get there; fasten your seatbelt," he instructed as we hit the highway.
We arrived thirty-five minutes later; it was a hotel building, but I don’t think the hotel is in service. After showing the security our invites, we were allowed into the building.
Landon parked and got out of the car. We also got out.
"I’ve had a change of mind." He brought out a cigarette and lit it. "I’ll wait here. It’s just for two hours, right?"
"Really?" Ruby grinned. "You’ll wait?"
"Yes, I’ll wait in the car."
"Alright, thank you. Let’s go, Ara." She took my hand, and we walked to the entrance of the hotel. When we arrived, we adjusted our dresses. A doorman opened the door for us, and I tried to go in, but Ruby caught my hand and drew back.
"A minute, please," she spoke to the doorman as she dragged to a corner.
"What is it?" I frowned. "Are you nervous?"
"A bit," she cleared her throat and touched her necklace, or rather, my necklace. She took one of my expensive necklaces, earrings, and bangles; she says she wants to look expensive. I think it suits her; she’s wearing a green sleeveless dress that’s a bit tight around the waist. Her heels are black; her handbag is also black. Her makeup is light; I advised her to make it as minimal as possible. She looks a bit more mature, like a made woman. I’m thrilled she ca here.
She wouldn’t have attended if I had stayed back. I’m glad I didn’t get a serious injury; I’m also glad I woke up in ti for the party.
"Then why did you bring here?"
"For two reasons," she adjusted my fur dress, my wig, and my fur cap. "No matter what, don’t take this off; your wound needs to heal," she advised, referring to the cap.
"No problem, I know my condition more than anyone."
"So, what’s the other reason?" I asked.
"It’s about my brother. Why do you appear uncomfortable around him?" She asked. "I also noticed this the last ti you t him; I didn’t ask because I thought you’d speak up. Did sothing happen between you?"
"Uh... Nothing happened."
"Nothing?"
"Hmm."
"You hesitated."
"Nothing happened, I’m serious," I chuckled.
"You two used to be close, but you barely said a word to each other during the trip."
"Ruby, nothing happened, I assure you." I touched her to reassure her.
"We’ll speak more after the party; I might even bring up the conversation in his presence," she said and turned to leave, but I stopped her.
"You don’t have to; I’ll just tell you now. Bringing the conversation up in his presence will only make things more awkward."
"Alright, what is it?"
"Your brother confessed his feelings for just before the brothers took away. I told him I’d think about it, but I never gave him an answer to date," I rushed my words.
Her brows went up as she stared at , surprised. "He liked you?" she asked.
"Yes."
She scoffed, "I never noticed it. He hid it so well."
"Nothing happened between us. I was also surprised when he confessed. You know, I liked Cole a lot back then."
"Yeah, I know. You only had Cole in your heart. That fool," she rolled her eyes.
I chuckled. "I think your brother is a little embarrassed. I also don’t want to add to it, but that’s it."
She also laughed, "Well, he has a girlfriend now, and you have your mates. I don’t think he deserves you, so I’m happy that he never got you. I would have lost my mind if sothing had happened between you two."
"That’s why I didn’t tell you; I kept it from you for this purpose."
"Okay, let’s go in then." I held my fur dress and also tightened my grip on my purse; we approached the entrance, and the doorman opened the door.
"Welco," he smiled at us.
I flashed him a smile, and we got in. Once we entered, a gasp escaped our lips.
"Is this a party?"
