She didn’t have the habit of sleeping in, and after getting up she liked to sit in front of the window to put on makeup.

During the day she preferred a light makeup, which was quietly elegant and pleasing.

Today it rained outside, and she sat by the windowsill, applying lipstick while watching the rain.

On the balcony were the flowers and plants she tended to, pot after pot, lush and verdant.

The pace of life in Lonton was much slower than in Landon, here she didn’t feel the pressure, her days were filled with languor.

Sotis she would tend the flowers and plants, and sotis go to the street corner for a cup of coffee.

Especially on rainy days like this one, she felt even more indolent.

Before Chale Cheney’s arrival, her days were very calm, each one repeating the sa routine.

After applying her lipstick, she went to wake Chale Cheney up.

Later, she would have to coax the little one into having a phone call with his father.

In the smoking room, Charles Mcintosh extinguished his cigarette butt.

Butler Santana was tidying up the sickroom, looking deeply concerned.

Sylvan Cheney’s face was pale, and he still hadn’t woken up.

“Mr. McIntosh, I’m here to accompany him, you go about your business,” Butler Santana said.

“No worries, I will wait for Mr. Cheney to wake up,”

Butler Santana said nothing more, nor would she ask further, feeling that extra bit of pity.

She had also made chicken soup, not knowing whether Mr. Cheney would be able to drink it.

Charles Mcintosh had been waiting in the sickroom the whole ti, never leaving.

This wait lasted for three hours.

In the afternoon, Sylvan Cheney opened his eyes, moving his arm weakly.

A drip hung from his arm, with a third of it left.

The headache hadn’t completely subsided, and Sylvan Cheney felt weak all over as soon as he woke up.

“What ti is it,” he asked with his eyes closed, his voice weak, his eyelids showing signs of exhaustion.

Charles Mcintosh was startled, quickly walking over, “Sir, you’ve awoken—at half-past three in the afternoon of the following day.”

“I have slept for quite a while,” Sylvan’s voice was hoarse.

“The doctor said you need to stay in the hospital for a few more days for observation before discharging. These next few days, you can’t drink alcohol or overexert yourself,” Charles cautioned.

“It isn’t that serious,” Sylvan dismissed, “it’s just that I had too much to drink.”

It wasn’t the first ti he had drunk too much.

“Mr. Cheney, you vomited blood last night,”

“Oh, is that so?” Sylvan Cheney responded indifferently, “Perhaps I drank a little too much; I’ll be more careful next ti.”

Charles Mcintosh frowned, Sylvan’s tone was nonchalant, as if to say he had rely drunk too much.

Sylvan Cheney frowned as he rembered so events from when he was drunk; indeed, he had been sick by the sink for a long while afterward.

“Has the contract from LM Corporation co through? I rember it was supposed to be today. And wasn’t nine o’clock this morning the final delivery deadline for the June Family? Has the rchandise been checked?” Sylvan Cheney inquired, “Has the contract from LM Corporation been delivered? I seem to recall today being the due date. And wasn’t nine o’clock this morning the final deadline for June Family’s latest delivery? Has the cargo been entirely accounted for?”

“I have completed all of that,” Charles responded.

“Hmm,” Sylvan Cheney seed satisfied, trying to sit up.

“Sir, please don’t overwork yourself, the doctor just ca by to caution against it. I’ll take care of everything, you don’t need to worry,” Charles was concerned for him.

At such a critical mont, still wanting to take personal charge—he really was courting death.

“Other than these matters, there isn’t much else to pass the ti with,” Sylvan Cheney stated calmly, “I can’t exactly sit here and have a staring contest with you.”

“I just spoke with Lilac Serval on the phone, and although speaking with her often leaves one frustrated, she said sothing I think is correct,” Charles looked at Sylvan Cheney, “She ntioned that you’re no longer alone. You have to take good care of yourself no matter what because that’s the most fundantal thing.”

Once his health failed, then there would truly be nothing left.

Sylvan Cheney remained silent.

“Sir, Lilac Serval said that once you wake up, have Chale call you,”
