He responded with a nonchalant ‘Hmm’.
Charles Mcintosh knew that for such a long ti, Mr. Cheney and Chale Cheney hadn’t exchanged a single phone call.
Mr. Cheney had taken care of the little guy for three years, not once had they been separated for a day.
During this long period, the feelings involved, only Mr. Cheney himself knew best.
And only Charles Mcintosh knew how much Mr. Cheney cared for this son.
Chale Cheney was like a little angel who had appeared in Sylvan Cheney’s life by chance, lighting up his whole heart.
Before Chale Cheney’s arrival, it was likely that Sylvan had never thought he would beco a father, nor had he considered having a child.
Charles Mcintosh didn’t say much, he just sent a text ssage to Lilac Serval.
Sylvan Cheney closed his eyes, his expression calm.
Before long, Sylvan Cheney’s phone rang, the number was from London.
His eyelashes flickered, he opened his eyes, the gleam within them flickering.
“Mr. Cheney, I’ll go get your dicine,” Charles Mcintosh volunteered to leave, closing the door of the hospital room.
Sylvan Cheney raised his hand, his intense gaze fixed on the phone screen, and did not move away for a long while.
So much so, he missed the first call.
On the second call, Sylvan finally answered, “Hello.”
“…” Silence on the other end.
Then ca Lilac Serval’s subdued voice, “Chale, talk to Daddy.”
The light in Sylvan Cheney’s eyes began to burn, from a tiny spark at first to a sweeping blaze, his pupils shone brightly, his gaze fervent.
Chale Cheney awkwardly dodged the phone, “Don’t want to talk…”
Chale’s voice was soft, but Sylvan heard it.
In an instant, his heart felt as though cold rain was pouring down, dousing all the brightness and flas within seconds.
Bit by bit, his heart turned barren once again, shrouded in darkness.
Sylvan Cheney closed his eyes slightly, his face showing deeper weariness.
The sparked hope had vanished.
On the other end, Lilac Serval whispered sothing else into Chale Cheney’s ear.
It was then that Chale grasped the phone, “Get lots of rest, so you’ll get better.”
The voice was as babyish as always, but children cannot hide their feelings, and the voice clearly carried a trace of displeasure.
But to Sylvan Cheney, that voice was so familiar.
Sylvan Cheney smiled, “Have you been eating well?”
“Mmm.”
“Have you been picky with your food?”
“No.”
“Have you been obedient?”
“Mmm.”
Sylvan Cheney’s lips curled into a slight, uplifted smile which was especially vivid in the sunlight.
“Good,” Sylvan praised him.
“Don’t want to talk anymore.” Chale Cheney handed the phone back to Lilac Serval and ran off.
The hand that Sylvan Cheney held his phone with paused, and he took a long ti to regain his composure, his eyes reflecting shattered glimrs.
Pervading his limbs was an indescribable complexity and desolation.
On the other end, there was no more of Chale Cheney’s voice.
Lilac Serval took the phone with an awkward air, “Mr. Cheney, the little guy just happens to be a bit busy, I’ll have him call you later.”
“No need.”
“Then… Mr. Cheney, take care and get so rest.”
“Hmm.”
After hanging up, Sylvan Cheney could not conceal the traces on his face.
In front of him flitted the little guy’s voice, the little guy’s favorite sweater knitted for him by Jasmine Yale.
“Daddy, does baby look good in the sweater? Jasy knitted it! You don’t have one.”
“Daddy, baby can’t do his howork… wuwu, teach .”
“Daddy, guess how many candies baby has in his hand, guess right and I’ll give you both pieces.”
